    The infamous unprofessional bartender.

I definitely see why there's a low rating for this establishment? #1) It feels like they have the heat on in here. It's 80 degrees outside. It's cooler outside than in. #2) there experience i just have with one of the bartenders was beyond unprofessional. Just simply pointing out to him that I was standing in line before the person he waited on, his reply (in a very loud and unprofessional tone) was "I DON'T HAVE TO WAIT ON YOU. THIS IS MY HOUSE. GO TO THE OTHER BAR!" That left me completely appalled. Never will I ever come back here!

Sound bar features some really good DJ's and is a hot spot in the Chicago night scene. You can RSVP and get free cover if you go in before 10. If you plan on arriving late for the feature artist, be sure to buy tickets in advance avoid cover which goes up $10 every hour after 11 pm. Drinks are inconsistently priced depending on which bartender you go to. So be sure to ask before they make your drinks. My biggest issue with this place is the amount of shoving that goes on in these locations. I have to often stand my ground with elbows out or push back to all the inconsiderate ravers. I'd say it's a handful that kinda ruin it for everyone. I'm surprised fights don't break out nightly there. Also I wish security would keep an eye out for the really intoxicated women. Seems like a lot of predators lurking for an easy score.

A staple club for those who like edm and house occasionally ! Ngl it's a great spot for Asians because a lot of UIC & UIUC students and alumni come and party here! I have fun clubbing even without drinks so I can't really attest but this club is more for partying. Drinks are secondary and only if you're still sober. But bartenders do their jobs fast so you're not waiting around for a long time. And the main point I like about soundbar is the 2 floors (especially the basement) because there will be 2 different djs playing. The basement has more to explore and is more fun imo.

Security kept hitting on me and my friend. Super inappropriate and an abuse of power. We went to see Doctor P, he came on at 1AM. He is a dubstep dj so it was awkward that they had a house dj before him. The house dj's performed since we arrived so 10:30PM-1AM. It was an awkward crowd mix of yuppies and bassheads lol. We left by 1:15AM because we were tired.

At 12:50 AM, we were suddenly told there was a strict 2-hour limit, something never communicated upfront. Not by the person we booked with, not by the door guy when we arrived, not by the employee that walked us to our table, and not by the girl who took our bottles order. When we asked for proof, staff couldn't provide any and instead blamed the promoter, taking zero accountability. I've never experienced a "time limit" for bottle service anywhere, not even Las Vegas where bottle service is such a big part of the nightlife, so this was especially frustrating. After us pushing back on the "time limit", staff kept passing by our table checking how much of the bottles we had left, which made the experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. The service overall was disappointing, and our server even appeared to be intoxicated so at least she had a good time. We specifically chose this club to see DJ Orma (Bad Bunny's DJ), whose set didn't even start until 2:00 AM. Despite that, the general manager and busboy came and cleared out our section around that time while we weren't even finished. I believe it was a made-up policy to turn tables and maximize profit for the night. They are probably used to people just saying yes and not giving push back. At one point I spoke to the Owner who was apologetic so I'll give him that but between the lack of transparency, poor communication, and dismissive attitudes from everyone we interacted with, this was an extremely disappointing experience. For the price point and claiming to an "upscale" nightlife establishment, this level of service is completely unacceptable. Don't waste your time or money. There are so many other good nightlife options in Chicago that won't ruin your experience.

THIS PLACE OFFERS NO FREE WATER. I asked for water and the bartender gave me bottled water and a check for 11 dollars. I asked if there were any place I could get free water, she apologized and said no. We ordered 2 double drinks, and was charged 73 dollars. I attached a receipt. Just be wary of how expensive everything is. Service was fine, but this is the first bar I've ever been to that was so expensive and did not offer water. Only when someone was blacked out did they offer a bottle of water.

But something about this place makes me want to channel my inner Doberman. Let's talk about the staff--the rudest I've encountered in Chicago, with an arrogance that makes you wonder if they moonlight as royal palace guards. * If you're not physically kissing the wall while waiting in line, prepare to be barked at. * Stand patiently in line for the bathroom? They'll glare at you like you just committed a crime. * Try to make their job easier by explaining what's in your pockets before a pat-down? That's apparently "uncooperative." * Step aside to send a quick text? Nope, you're "in the way." * Uber two minutes out in subzero temps? Out you go, even if you're not blocking a thing. This place operates on a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" policy, where even existing seems to be an offense. I'm a respectful guy, but they push my buttons in a way that makes me question my sanity. Respect is earned, and let's just say they're running a serious deficit. The cherry on top? I got elbowed in the nose, ended up with a bloody one, and as I tried to clean up in the bathroom, I was watched like I was about to commit a felony. No concern, no assistance--just judgment. I rarely come here, and every time I do, I'm reminded why that's a solid life choice. Or, in the words of Joey Swole: you need to do better.

I came here on Halloween last year, and I had fun but the music wasn't really my vibe, so I was happy when my sister wanted to celebrate her birthday here and we saw they were doing a Y2k night! All the songs they played were classics that everyone knows, and it was so much fun. The bar is pretty large and there's a lot of space to dance. They don't let it get too crowded, so it never feels unsafe or too hot. The decor inside is like a retro 1960s salon, making it great for photos. There's also a photo booth where you get 1 colored and 1 black and white strip ($7). They charge a cover around 9pm I think, so just get there before then so you won't have to pay. We got there around 8pm on a Saturday and barely anyone was there, but around 9pm more and more people started to show up. There's usually a line if you get there later because they limit the amount of people inside. Also keep in mind cocktails were $16 and there's a card minimum of $20, which basically forces you to buy two if you're using card. The drinks are super strong and they definitely do not skimp lol. The espresso martini was my favorite of the night!

We started with dinner at Good Funk (sooo good) and then walked over to Beauty Bar. We joined the line of women waiting to get in when I remarked that I don't really wait in line these days- especially in 20 degrees! My friend suggested we go up to the bouncer and talk our way in as we used to in the good old days, but I looked around and noticed we were 20 years older than everyone else...so figured that wouldn't work! Regardless it was worth a shot so we went up the bouncer and tried to talk our way in...and denied! Finally enough people left the bar that they let us in to crowds and crowds of women. We paid the the cover fee of $15 and I was delighted to see that in 2026 you could pay bars with apple pay! I'll admit this wasn't really my scene these days, but we made the best of it and started dancing away. The music was really great! My friend warned me that the best drinks were served in cans so I ordered a high noon. At one point my friend and I had to use the restroom so we pushed our way thru the hundreds of sweaty women. Plus the 3 men who showed up after an epic beads game. Our biggest complaint was that there was nowhere to hang our purse in the bathroom, which i'm sure the rest of the under 28 crowd wasn't worried about. At midnight our carriage (aka party bus) arrived so it was time to leave Beauty Bar. I can't say I was sad, but it was definitely an experience and always fun to go dancing at a bar every decade or so these days. And, most importantly, the bday gal had a blast!
