There is an ME in TEAM!

The bar - and the band. Not just two pianos but bass drums and guitar. The musicians were fabulous, and the one female band member sang like Whitney Houston, banged the keys like no one's business, and was one heck of a drummer, bass player and harmonica player! Such a good time! Bring the team and get some after-work bonding time in - this place is fantastic! Too much fun....set a double alarm in the morning and pop those two Advil before bed!

A bar near the corner of grand station. Grabbed a drink for happy hour here, the atmosphere is good, not many people here at 7. Staff are friendly.

    Easy to find!

This is a must do while in Chicago! Make a reservation and have some food and beverages. The entertainment is off the hook! We will go back many more times!

Gahh this was one of the highlights of our Chicago trip. This place was super fun and energetic. High energy all around. I've never been to a piano bar other than on a cruise, so this was new to me. But boy was it a time. The bouncers and bartenders were phenomenal. Of course the pianist and backup singers were very talented and engaged well with the crowd. It's always fun being in a new place where no one knows you.

If you like deuling piano bars, this is the place for you! So much fun, energizing, lots of engagement from the performers and the crowd. Fun decorations at this place and even a couple TVs in the back for the sports fan who would prefer to watch the game instead. More like a full onstage band with guitar and drums to back up the pianos. Customer requests welcome. Good for large groups. Generally a cover but worth it!

Who doesn't love a good dueling piano night. I came here because they were supposed to be doing a 2000's night. Well that sort of didn't happen. Of course there was some old foggies in there requesting Margaritaville. No hate but I was really pumped for the 2000's tunes. I understand the musicians got to make their money...so it's all good. I did get to hear a rendition of Umbrella by Rihanna and they did a good job. I didn't reserve a table and will do that in the future. We were able to find a non-reserved table in the back. Not the best of views but we could see the band. However, the sound projected forward so sometimes hard to hear the lyrics of the songs. Overall the musicians were talented but I didn't really hear anything that blew me away. I would would love to come back and see how they handle rap and hip-hop. Most songs were pop and golden oldies (60's, 70s and 80s). On this occasion they did have shot specials and other happy hour deals. We tried the jello shots and they were good and strong (surprisingly). This is definitely a fun vibe so check it out when you wanna try something new!!!

I found myself in Rogers Park for two days for my daughter's freshman orientation at Loyola. Of course, my number one concern after the first day of seminars was to find somewhere awesome to eat that evening. After extensive searching throughout the day, I believed I had settled on somewhere to go... that is until the front desk attendant of my hotel handed me a sheet of recommended places to check out in the area. Normally, I will just explore and research on my own to figure out somewhere to go. Despite the many exciting choices nearby, of which I almost settled on Ethiopian or Cambodian, I stumbled on Le Piano; and my oh my, I couldn't be happier that I did. Looking at the listed provided by the hotel, Le Piano was in a small section titled "music, food, bar" and specifically labeled as jazz. Taking a minute to hit up their website, I found that night that Gerry Hundt, a blues artist I didn't know was going to be playing. My interest already now piqued, I rushed over to the menu, which is awash in wonderful sounding continental and French classics made local and fit for a jazz bar. The cocktail menu also matches, but is also incredibly extensive and has a very interesting Victorian flair. It was at this point I was sold, and booked a seat immediately to head out that evening. Arriving, I found this to be one of the coolest spaces I have ever been to for music. Styled perfectly with a dark Victorian-yet-jazzy flair, and intimate, my assigned seat was allowed to be changed to an amazingly worn leather loveseat, like something out of a noir film, with a single taper lighting my table. The bartender and my server made a point of giving me their names, which I believe were Chris and Steven, but I can't remember because my memory is Swiss cheese, but they were both amazing, talking with me and being completely engaged with me as a Chicago newbie. This doesn't even include the perfect sazerac and jasmine that Chris made to round out the artichoke fritters I ordered. The fritters were outstanding. Barely breaded and flash fried to perfection and one of the best fried dishes I've had in years, as I don't prefer that type of thing. Steven's recommendation was seriously on point. If a spot like this existed near me, I would be there weekly. If I lived in Chicago, Le Piano wouldn't be able to get rid of me. Don't pass on this place and get there now! Enjoy some wonderful music, legendary drinks, and outstanding food!

I came here for the first time knowing my grandparents started coming here in the 50's for date night jazz. This place was founded in 1947 and you can see they've preserved this place to keep that same feel with all the greats from the past... Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, Lonnie Liston Smith, Hugh Masekela, Dexter Gordon, etc. (those are my favorites!). I saw the Kyle Swan Quartet. They were absolutely amazing. You see young and seasoned musicians that are so talented. I usually go to Birdland in NYC but this place, Jazz Showcase, is better to me because it feels more welcoming and like home here versus a production at a theater. We interact with the artists here-- well, they interact with us and make us feel like we are at home and like we are supposed to be there with them, not a performance transaction. $25+ for a show and booking online was a breeze. It's comfortable here, chairs are good and there's sofas in reserved areas but the whole seating area has a great view of the stage no matter where you're sitting. The staff seems gracious and kind of everyone who visits and genuinely wants you to have a great time. They see very selective in their talent that performs here... but why wouldn't they when they've been here for so long and had the best artists perform here?! I came the night that The only downside that may be for some people is they don't have food... only drinks. Me personally, I ate before and don't come for food, I come for the jazz... but they've got beer, cocktails, and other spirits. Macallan and Laphroaig for those who need a good whiskey. Come here if you're ready to relax and listen to great jazz with artists who know their craft. I'm coming back with friends... or even alone. Yeah, it's cool like that. ***Side note: the GPS may take you to the Main Street and you may not see the sign right away and actually have to turn the corner on Plymouth and walk down that side street to get to the end of the block (where the dead end/no outlet is).

Table 12 for the win!…read more I was in Rosemont for a work trip, which usually means dull dinners, early nights and generally a bit Puritanical. Since we were in Chicago, I took my boss and coworker to the Tiki TIki next door for a shot of Malort. It's Chicago, after all. 1 shot became 2, 2 became 4, and before I knew it, the bartender was ushering us through the swinging door into Pete's once they opened. Fun fact: we were the first ones in and also shut the bar down. From the moment the pianists started, it was clear this place was on point. Even them doing introductions and giving the ground rules was done musically. All four singers were wicked talented, and rotated in and out through the night. On occasion, they came together and became a full on quartet playing instruments other than pianos. Vocals were amazing, the energy in the place was such that I didn't even realize the time until they did last call and the lights came up. The layout of Pete's lends itself to entertainment. Regardless of what table you are at, you have a great view of the stage and no one has their back to the performance. The atmosphere is covered with fun and bright signs all over and despite being a larger place, it feels intimate when your song is played and everyone sings along. The table service was also great. She never hovered, but we also never lacked a drink. The next best thing about this place, after the performers, is the level of crowd interaction. There were folks singing along to every single song, and at times it was the whole bar. A couple of times during the night, folks were running around the bar riding a horse's head (or maybe a unicorn) on a stick. Somehow, it all just made sense. Pete's turned what could have been another boring end of a work trip sitting in the hotel into a night full of laughs, shots, and having a hoarse voice for days.
