Before I tell you what happened, just know that Ken is not responsible, honest or good at his job. Over a year ago, we started out strong with Ken. We needed some updating to our security cameras and we wanted the "Ring" system for our front door. He did a good job and we had him go do our vacation home, again we were happy. We were about to start a gut job on our new home, that was built in 1959 and was 5000 sq ft. We wanted a state of the art smart home. Ken spoke well, sounded like he understood what we wanted and how to go about to make it happen, but that was a pipe dream. Ken was rarely on time, even if he showed up. His employee/partner/coworker? Taylor would show up often in his place and in all honesty we preferred him. Ken would often tell you your item will be here Friday, then Friday would roll around and you wouldn't hear from him. When he finally called you back, he would tell you, he NEVER said Friday. Now repeat this same conversation over and over again, especially when it came to all the Lutron equipment. He also never accepted responsibility for any mistakes. One time no one could get a hold of him for 3 days, even Taylor couldn't reach him. Turns out he went on a fishing trip, turned his back on his business responsibilities. He did however, bring us some very fresh tuna. He installed our Lutron automatic shades in our kitchen. One of them was reverse, he showed it to us immediately and told us that Lutron had manufactured it incorrectly and that he would get a replacement and install it with the last two shades we had been waiting for since October 10th. He told us that Lutron was taking too long, so I finally called Lutron to find out what the hold up was, they had NO order from him. He has to order through a distributor, who orders if from luton, etc. I asked for invoice numbers and which company he used so I could follow up with Lutron, he created an EXCEL spreadsheet on his computer and sent it to me. Guess he didn't want me to see the actual invoice on there. I can understand why, because when he quoted us for the Lutron light switches, we felt they were very expensive, so we had our electrician ask his Lutron distributor for prices. Ken had inflated EACH switch by 300%, think about that for a moment, 300% and we needed 50 switches. We told him to order the shades and that we would take care of the switches. At this point we still wanted him to finish the AV items in the house. Not only was he trying to milk us with the Lutron equipment, he didn't know anything about it. He didn't tell us that some light bulbs won't work with the RA2 system we were installing. So the first 150 bulbs we bought we couldn't even use. Of course, this wasn't his fault. The Lutron shade in the kitchen, turns out it wasn't badly manufactured, he installed it incorrectly and his assistant Taylor was able to repair it in just a few minutes and by talking to Lutron on the phone. Ken REFUSED to do this, and kept insisting to the end that we needed a new one (it's working just fine now). Then one of our receivers was blown out, it turns out he attached too many items to it. FINALLY, the last 2 shades we had been waiting for came in. Taylor came to install them, Ken had ordered them incorrectly, COMPLETELY incorrect dimensions.. Of course, it wasn't his fault again. My husband told him to bring us the correct shades and that we were finished, we didn't want him working on the house any longer. He waited 3 days, then sent my husband a note saying that he quits, he won't be able to work with us any longer, because we screamed at him (this is true) and this was not his fault. He blames us, I won't even bother with the absolutely ridiculous reasons he gave. The point to all of this is that Ken is not professional. We really didn't know how far off the mark he was until we hired a new company to come fix all the mistakes he's made and give us the system we had wanted from the beginning. The difference is HUGE, this company is always on time, everything is in writing, we have actual invoices and they keep in constant communication. Turns out Ken talked a big game, but really should have stayed on the bench. He also refuses to refund us for the incorrect shades or order the correct ones at his expense. He just walked away. No we won't be using this company again, we will never recommend him to anyone. read more

Missed first appointment - no show. Came out, took measurements... few weeks went by. Sent the installer to again look over location... more weeks go by. Get a message that they are ready to install!! I ask for the estimate. Estimate is a very big, lump sum number with no breakdown. I ask for clarification on what is included in this huge lump sum (There had been talk of just TV install with 50' HDMI run and talk of an additional run of HDMI to 2 other locations] I get a response the tells me what the TV hanging costs and what the electrical move costs but still no breakdown of the $1600 labor. However, he indicates in a response that I am welcome to take part in the install, learn something and reduce overall hourly charges. He also states that with the main install and no additional runs he thinks the total number of hours will be reduced significantly. When I reply and tell him that I will take him up on pitching in I get a cryptic response telling me that he won't take responsibility for someone's half done job.... blah blah rant... then he tells me they are declining the job! June 10 - July 28 LOST, 2 actual in home meetings, 1 actual missed appointment. read more

Sound Home Solutions and Ken, the owner, are great. When I first had Ken come in to evaluate my current home theater and prepare for new equipment, he diagnosed two issues that I was having since day one. One issue was with my highly rated AV receiver and the other was with my 5 star rated TV mount that I bought on Amazon. Those two quick, spot on evaluations proved to me that he knew his stuff and was enough for me trust him with our new home theater build out. We had Lance and Ken from Sound Home Solutions come out and do a site survey for our remodel in Cardiff. Both are very knowledgeable in the audio video field. We had 3 bids and we went with SHS and we feel very fortunate that we did. We were shopping at Best Buy and online at Amazon for tvs and a surround sound receivers. SHS told us the pros and cons of each device and were able to get us a Samsung Smart TV, Denon receiver (I can work it with my iPhone) in ceiling speakers and they actually BEAT both Amazons and Best Buy prices and will service the devices if there is ever a problem with them. They worked well with our general contractor who says he will be using them on future projects. There were a couple of minor issues after the install and anytime we called them they came right over and solved the issues. One time it was the cable box needed to be rebooted and another time the maid unplugged some wire or something . We are very pleased with the service and the prices and would recommend Sound Home Solutions to anybody. read more

We had another great experience with Ken. He showed up on time, prices were fairly reasonable, and he switched out a TV, added in an Orbi and a mobile phone antenna. Not sure why there are some negative reviews. read more

These guys are great. My neighbor works at Quallcom and one of their executives used them and put them on a inter office referral list. I wanted an audio system and a Tv mounted over my brick firelace. I had 2 contractors say it couldnt be done and a guy from Best Buy tell me they would have to cut all these holes in my ceiling and we would have to hire an electrician and so on. He never even got back to me with a quote. I called Sound Home Solutions and Ken took a look at it and told me " Lets get a carpet guy over so we can run the coaxial cable across ther room under the padding of the carpet. The rest of the job will take us 1/2 a day." I was kind of in shock as everyone else said it couldnt be done and this guy just matter of factly said piece of cake. They did it! 2 small holes in the drywall next to my fireplace to get the HDMI cables and electrical behind the TV and they used a big masonry drill thing and it turned out beautiful.! They mounted a really nice soundbar on the brick below it also. Very, very clean work and very nice people. I couldnt be happier and reccomend them highly. read more

Ken came out to our home, he knew exactly what to do and he was very quick and knowledgeable!! We had a good sound system and he figured out its issues very quickly. He changed everything to work with our new receiver. Next week he is going to move our bedroom plasma TV and improve its sound system. He tested and programmed the components to make sure each piece worked perfectly and in a way that we understood. read more

We had Ken from Sound Home Solutions perform work installing a TV above our fireplace (which was a big job considering is was brick behind the drywall) and it worked out great, no cables showing and was a fair price. He also took the extra time assisting us configuring a new remote for our other TV and connecting it to our WiFi. Great work and we would recommend his company to our friends and family. read more

We had a pretty good, complex sound system but an aging tv in our RSF home. Ken came over the day after we contacted him and quickly gave us a thorough analysis of some of the options we had and the type of tv that we'd probably prefer. We reviewed several issues with him to do with complexity, timing and price and settled on an approach. While he was there, we also asked for advice on a laptop and on improving our wifi and he took care of those issues, too. The next week he installed everything we needed and spent most of a day testing and programming to make sure each piece worked in a way that we understood. When I had questions a couple of days later, he walked me through one of the issues on the phone and came over the next day to explain a couple of other things to us. In addition, he suggested a much simpler remote for us. Over the couple of years following, although nothing major was needed, Ken always responded to our calls and texts immediately and was happy to answer any question. His service was not only fast and solid, it was also provided in a most pleasant and patient manner and at extremely fair rates. We just moved and of course we called Ken to install our new tv and sound system. He had very little space for wiring and equipment and yet he managed to hide everything. All that is visible is an elegantly simple tv and sound bar on the wall. On each of our installations, he brought appropriate assistance when needed. We wholeheartedly recommend that anyone who wants creative solutions, low-stress working relationships, and truly fair prices contact Ken.
