These guys are f'n awesome. Perfection, honesty and professionalism whenever you step in this shop. Ernie, Junior, Gio and German are your go to guys for sound quality audio and kudos to the team for building a great high end setup for me. After driving my 4Runner for a year especially with this horrible jbl system which sounds like ass, I've just about had it. Those who have 4runners know the audio is horrible. Road trips and my commute to and from work have been a snoozer and I was always dissatisfied whenever I drove the truck around. I needed the same spark that my accord had to the 4Runner. This is when I went to Ernie for advice on what I can do to my truck. I was then assisted by German who had made a few suggestions with product and setup. In the end I ended up going with two mosconi pico amps, focal flax 3 way speakers which are ran active, focal coax for rear doors, a 10" jl audio w6 sub, and more. All Doors and door panels were sealed and sound deadened. What was awesome was they 3d printed custom tweeter grills to the pillar which look like they just came from the factory. I brought my highly vulnerable SS Camaro to Sound innovations after a failed theft. I got lucky they didn't get her and wanted to make sure it never happens. A quick search online quickly pointed towards getting the IGLA PIN code system and Sound innovations is a nearby authorized dealer. Make the call talk to the Boss man Ernie and he laid every detail in front of me in extreme depth. He answered all my follow up questions and was able to get me an appointment asap! I mean this guy is an expert! I asked and I received. Ernie's installer Geo was equally as impressive and clearly has an immense amount of knowledge and experience working in this field. At the end of the install during demonstration, we discovered a fault in the device itself. The Bluetooth was unable to connect to any phone. So be sure you test every single feature if you pull the trigger. Geo, being the amazing worker he is, was able to replace the faulty unit in about an additional 1.5 hours or so. The boss man Ernie was sure to discount me for the extended time. Mind you, this was not their fault, just a bad unit from manufacture. A few weeks later I decided to take it to the next level and get Compustar T13 with drone. During all this time, Ernie is merely a text away through his business' messaging system and is extremely responsive. This job went extremely smooth and I went home on time. Unfortunately, the trunk release stopped working the following day. Sound innovations came to my home to diagnose the issue. They were unable to fix it but I returned another day and they were able mend the trunk issue in like 20 minutes. Regarding IGLA System... get it! Get it! Get it! I'm like an American 007 with my secret code. It Blocks access to odb (the way they steal it) and the car won't move if turned on some other way. Takes practice to learn how to use it properly but feels like it was worth every penny. Regarding Compustar with drone. You need this because these loser thieves will go as far as pushing or towing your vehicle. This system will alert you if someone shocks, tilts, or breaks the glass. It also performs as an additional immobilizer. GPS Tracking on drone mobile is great, remote control through cellular amazing. Regarding price.... You get what you pay for. You're not only paying for the product but also for the reliable service, expertise, and peace of mind provided by knowing guys like Ernie and Geo are taking care of your baby. You can stop searching now - this is THE SPOT. I recently had a custom car stereo system installed with Sound Innovations, and they went above and beyond my expectations. Simply incredible work. This is my review after using the system for two months. Let me walk you through the process: I emailed Sound Innovations on May 9, inquiring about an Android Auto radio system install and a stereo upgrade. I didn't know exactly what I wanted at this point, just that I wanted it to sound great, look stock, and integrate with my phone. Thirty-one emails, several phone calls, and one in-person visit later I arrived at my dream system on June 14. Ernie is so generous with his time. He's happy to sketch out a diagram and explain his rationale so you understand what you're purchasing. He operates with integrity, and he knows his shit. When I visited in person, he had me listen to several different systems blind to their cost or brand. He told me he does this to help people save money - if they can't tell the difference, great, they can still enjoy themselves without breaking the bank. Leading up to the actual install, I changed my mind several times, and every step of the way I felt supported and never rushed or pressured. Sound Innovations wants you to LOVE their work, so they want to get every detail right. Radio Install: I got a brand new Alpine iLX-509 radio unit installed in a completely custom location (see photos). They moved my original display to just below the console CD tray. They scanned the cavity and 3D printed a housing and mount for the new radio. You can see in the photos, the craftsmanship is top notch. By retaining the original display, I was able to view climate control as before. Not only that, they custom wired the stock CD player so that it STILL WORKED after the new install! They installed a Maestro RR unit so that I could read engine diagnostics and continue to control the volume and skip function via my steering wheel buttons. This introduced an odd behavior in the OEM screen, so they custom printed an acrylic overlay with certain parts shaded out to maintain the aesthetic. Blew my mind. Speakers, Sub, and Amp: I ended up going with one of their premium offerings for the speakers, Hertz MLK1650.3 and Hertz CX 165. In my blind sound test, I really loved how these sounded for female vocals and the tonality for jazz was really on point. Ernie hooked me up with an amazing beast of a subwoofer, the JL Audio CLS110RG-W7AE, that matched the quality of the rest of the set. For the DSP and Amp, they installed a Audison AP F8.9bit and Audison SR1.500 and performed a custom tuning to ensure timing, phase, and crossover were perfect. Even as I arrived to pick up my car, Ernie was taking a smidge off the highs to get them just right for the type of music I listen to. They want it tuned to your preference, so any changes you make in the parametric equalizer are just salt and pepper. They performed sound deadening of the front doors and rear deck which honestly makes for a lovely driving experience even if you aren't listening to music. Road noise in the city and on the high way is significantly quieter. This lets you enjoy the system and pick out details without having to absolutely crank it in loud areas. Lastly, the presentation is great. The wiring of the Amp/DSP, speaker install, microphone, etc. is very professional to the point you can't even tell work was done. Over the years I've had a few custom car stereos installed by several shops in the Bay Area. I was always moderately happy with the results, and the other shops did an ok job. Then last summer I discovered Sound Innovations. Whoa! I didn't realize what I was missing. Sound Innovations is several steps above any other car stereo business that I've encountered. Their service and quality are excellent. This is the the place you want to go! Here's my story: Last summer I purchased a new Honda Odyssey. I wasn't expecting it to have a great stereo, and it DIDN'T! I took it on a 3000 mile road trip, and in the middle of the trip I couldn't take it anymore! The sound was terrible. I called Sound Innovations to inquire about their services. Ernie exchanged several e-mails with me, and talked with me on the phone for a good 30 minutes. He asked me a lot questions, taught me a few things, and he got a sense of what I was looking for. A couple of days later he sent me an estimate, we talked some more, tweaked the design, and then we scheduled the service. We decided to keep the factory head unit, because it's well-integrated into the vehicle, communicates with all of the Honda hardware, and has CarPlay. However, the rest of the audio system was replaced. They replaced the tweeters, the front door speakers, the rear door speakers, and the subwoofer. They fabricated an amazing subwoofer enclosure in the rear side panel, added some serious sound deadening to the doors, added some speaker baffles, added an amp for the speakers, an amp for the sub, a subwoofer volume knob, and a switch to change between two different EQ profiles. Wow! It's sounds amazing! It's also a very stealthy installation. You can certainly tell that it's a custom stereo by listening to it, but you would never know by looking at it. I went into this with high expectations, but they still blew me away with little surprises that I didn't expect: * The subwoofer enclosure is a work of art. You should see the attached photos. First they removed the crappy old Honda sub, made a 3D scan of the cavity where the new sub would go, cut the side panels as needed, and then fabricated a new enclosure. The new sub looks and sounds amazing. They even matched the texture of the surrounding Honda plastic. And my god...the bass...the bass is lovely! :) * The sound dampening in the doors was extremely thorough. I immediately noticed that the doors felt solid, unlike any doors that I've had before. Tapping on them with my knuckles makes a dull thud. Closing the door makes a satisfying booomp. There is no sound resonance at all from the speakers, and road noise is greatly reduced. * They sent me several photos of the ongoing work on the vehicle. It's was fun to see all the steps they were taking. It also gave me an appreciation for the amount of work involved. They also sent photos asking about parts of a panel that needed to be removed. I appreciate them letting me make the choice. * While looking at the photos, I noticed that they were taking extreme care to protect the vehicle. Parts of the car were covered with a plastic film to protect it from scratches. When I got the car back it was flawless. There wasn't a single scratch, dent, or mark (other than what was already there.) * The tuning of the stereo was great. The sound was lovely! Then I came back a few months later, and they tweaked it for me since I wanted a bit more treble. They also fixed a small rattle that developed around my sunroof when the subwoofer was thumping hard. They really stand behind their work. Anyway, I've said enough. Sound Innovations has me as a lifelong customer now. I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

Such a great experience! Ernie was extremely helpful, communicative, and genuine! I used SI to surprise my fiancé with Apple CarPlay. Sound Innovations is by far one of the best custom automotive businesses in the industry nationwide. I'm sure that anyone who has ever paid someone to install aftermarket audio can picture the sketchy storefront stuffed with unorganized and dusty speaker boxes and a guy behind the counter who looks and talks like a stereotypical rotten car salesman. Then, when you see your investment in the garage, you see technicians either too young, sketchy, or proud carelessly damaging your panels and jamming wires any which way is easiest. Sound Innovations in Union City, managed by Ernesto (Ernie) is the complete opposite of this. The experience I had here was what I imagine buying a new Porsche or Mclaren would feel like. Ernie removed the damaged system that I had done by a shop in Belmont and installed something breathtaking. Sound Innovations reinstalled my JL C3-650s and powered them with a JL VX600/6i. He then gave me an excellent deal on a custom JL 12" subwoofer, box, and Audison 1.500 mono amplifier. The thing is, after my ordeal in Belmont, I didn't even ask for any deals or deductions is price. Ernesto saw how bad my situation was, fixed it, and even helped me out with reconciling the issue with the crappy shop owner. Before I picked up the vehicle, we sat in the car with my wife and he tuned the system with his laptop specifically to our taste in music. Afterwards, he gave me some life advice to stay positive and continue to believe in my car audio hobby even though some bad apples ruin it. He maintains text communication with me to make sure everything in the vehicle is to my liking. As far as installation and sound quality, this is the cleanest and clearest system I've had, and I have had 4 sound systems installed since 2012 in 4 different vehicles. My tweeters generate highs at any volume without any harshness at all. The sound stage is beautifully towards the front, and it feels like I'm at a concert when I drive. I often forget that I'm driving -- dangerous...I know. Lastly, the mid bass seems to pierce your chest and the bass in the trunk is connected seamlessly and powerfully with the music. And yes, the hardware is definitely higher end, but the magic is in the tuning. Before Ernie, I didn't even know that car audio shops were able to tune your sound system unless you rolled up with 10 stacks and a Rolls-Royce. When you talk to Ernie, you can tell that he has an intense passion for music and sound. It's definitely more than just crushing a profit margin for him. More than anything, Ernie did not look down on me for being young, for riding JDM instead of German/Italian/American Classic, or for not being an expert in car audio. It's these types of relationships that last a lifetime and that will make a business rise above others. Lastly, I'd like to give a shout-out to Junior and the other technicians that worked on my car. When they install the dash cam,during that time, not a lot of shops does model 3 dash cam. It took 3 hrs to do since he hasn't done many model 3. However, Ernie gave me a first class experience by personally dropping and picking me up in the movie house. To top it all.... after several months I had to replace my windshield and the service guys at Tesla didn't put back the dash cam the way it was before. Old school attention to detail combined with constantly evolving their working knowledge of the latest technology, installation methods, and vehicles out there. I have been having issues with a VicoVation Power Plus battery drain protection device hooked up to a BlackVue DR900S-2Ch. The installation was done by another shop. The camera kept turning on & off even while driving. I asked the folks at Sound Innovations if they would be able to modify the installation to work off of a BlackVue Power Magic Battery Ultra so that I do not have to worry about draining my car's battery while parked. They did a fantastic job removing the hold protection device and found an issue with the installation. Rather than resolving that issue, we decided it was best to still proceed with the battery. They completed a very clean installation without any signs of the battery presence visible. The location of battery makes it easily accessible should there be any issues. On the drive home, the battery fully charged up, and the camera ran smoothly! If you're reading these reviews to assess if the reviews are legit, believe me, these guys haven't been in business this long with reviews like this because it's all fluff. Besides a complete satisfactory of the original installation, I would like to callout a great continuous customer support from Sound Innovations. Dropped by this morning after a car battery change which for some reason broke the audio system, Ernie helped and efficiently root caused the issue and fixed it -- turned out to be a ground line left unconnected. A magical experience though -- efficient, solved the issue and no extra charges. Besides this, a while ago, I also did swap a sound amplifier after 2 years usage (so apparently a normal wear and tear), but Ernie was able to swap for me free of charge as well. read more

I have waited to post this review several months after Ernie and his crew at Sound Innovations (SI) completed our installations to give you a complete summary of my experience. If you are in the market for a sound system, I strongly recommend you consult with the good folks at SI. Simply put, SI is a strong performing company that will go the extra mile to meet your needs. In June of 2020 I started my search for 2 new sound systems for our Toyota and Lexus. Our mechanic recommended a local company here in our home town. I called to get a quote from that company and the rep. took my number and told me he'd get back to me later that day. I'm still waiting for him to call back. The next day I started researching other companies when I found the Yelp reviews of SI. I was struck by the number of five star reviews and the glowing comments. My first reaction was that this sounds too good to be true. However, after talking to Ernie, I found the reviewers were not engaging in hyperbole. I talked to Ernie several times over the course of the next week.....from Pismo Beach. That's right, he and his family were on a short vacation but he wanted to ensure I was a satisfied customer. Ernie did all the research necessary to ensure that he found the sound systems that would best meet my needs. We settled on two Kenwood systems that included backup cameras and Apple CarPlay. With Covid19 raging Ernie had to jump through a number of hoops to secure all of the parts that were needed to install the systems. This meant he had to order parts from four different companies to ensure he had the proper configuration. We set the date for installation. SI was able to complete the work on both cars on the same day. Before we drove away, Ernie gave us a quick primer on how to pair our phones and how to use our apps, including Waze, Spotify, text messages, phone, etc. The sound system is clear and really enhances our driving experience. The backup camera has worked flawlessly and we are able to navigate the Kenwood system using the buttons on our steering wheels with ease. Simply put, we are extremely happy customers. One final note. The true measure of a company's performance is whether they stand behind their product when problems arise. We ran into a minor snag, when our daughter, who drives one of the cars, noticed that the trunk mechanism was rubbing against the interior felt. I called Ernie today and he told me to bring it in. He quickly identified the problem as a tab that needed to be installed, which he did in minutes. Voila, problem solved. I know this post has gone long, but I hope it's given you a complete picture of why the highest rating of five stars is merited for SI. I had Ernie and his team install built in headrest DVD players on my Lexus and they turned out amazing! Ernie ordered the headrests to look like the existing factory ones and so you can't tell any different. I dropped off my baby at 9am and it was done by 4pm....insane! The price was pretty reasonable!
