Returned to Audio High after an extended break,  A favorite place for developing my growing appreciation  for high end  audiophile gear. The Mountain View location temporarily closed  during the pandemic, but they  are now back with the same friendly well informed staff who themselves are enthusiastic fans of diverse  well recorded music.  When most electronics  can be purchased online based on specs and reviews similar to other packaged goods, I greatly appreciate access to a local company to partner with providing a well calibrated space to listen,  pair and select high end audiophile gear.  Audio High has been an excellent  partner in my journey as I worked my way up the chain starting with equipment from UK based Chord Electronics and their Mobile, Hugo, TableTop now to the superbly engineered  Choral/Ultima line of high-end DACs and pre/power  Amplifiers .   I understand Audio High has staff to perform installs of well calibrated listening rooms etc...  though I am yet to use this particular service myself.   In an age where we all subscribe to spec/influencer  driven purchases often  backed by (increasingly!)  AI generated reviews etc.... I had a terrific experience with Audio High. I went into the store considering whether to downsize a large McIntosh system to a high-end all-in-one AVM product (Audio High is the only local AVM dealer). Rolie and Dan spent a *lot* of time with me over two visits, and were incredibly patient as I auditioned record after record, CD after CD, and various streaming sources. They also bent over backwards to construct a very generous trade-in value for my Mac stack. When all was said and done, I decided that I'm not yet ready to part with my blue meters (I've loved a lot of McIntosh gear over the years). Rolie and Dan were incredibly gracious about my decision not to purchase the AVM piece (which is exceptional, BTW) despite the significant time they invested in the potential sale. Thank you to Audio High for helping me and my sister with a small project. I know they have high end customers with big installatioons. All I needed was a new Sonos sound bar. They came to install it and found it is incompatible with my old rear speakers. I told them to replace them and they made a recommendation on brand new Sonos speketrs . I recently upgraded my home theater to Martin Logan speakers, and did this based solely on YouTube reviews. When I got the speakers, I realized I have a lot to learn in terms of getting the best sound including acoustic treatment in the room. I also wanted to start actually listening to different types of speakers rather then just go by other reviewers' opinions. I scheduled a 2 hour time with Audio High, and they were extremely courteous and not pushy in terms of selling me speakers. I listened to speakers that I am never going to buy, and Paul at the store was completely open to having me listen to any speaker they had in the showroom. I highly recommend listening to speakers before buying them if you are making any significant investment and want to get the best sound, because only you can decide what "best sound" to you is. read more

Rolie was very responsive and proactive to get us set up with the best plan to reconnect all the current audio equipment and replace any outdated equipment to ensure we had a high performing AV experience. I was looking for someplace where I could audition the KEF Reference series speakers. The folks at Audio High were happy to help and we setup a time for me to come by, accommodating my schedule on a day that wasn't' great for them. When I arrived they had already setup the the speakers I was interested in, and I spent an extended listening session using their system, and then plugging in my own usb source as well. It was a great place to critically listen to a variety of music, and the folks were most helpful and flexible, as we changed speaker and listening positions to hear various effects and simulate what my home listening room would be like. Everyone I met there was helpful and really listened to what I was trying to accomplish and sharing their knowledge and experience without trying to push me toward or away from any particular brand. I ultimately was more interested in a different speaker than the ones I came to hear, and that was due to the Audio High team's understanding of the various products they had in house and correlating that to what I was saying I liked. In the end I purchased a different brand from another retail location where I visited during a vacation trip. It was a brand I didn't know Audio High carried, otherwise I would definitely have made the purchase through them. I've auditioned a large amount of home audio equipment in a lot of environments. The experience working with Daniel and his crew was the best. I very highly recommend them if you are a discerning audio enthusiast - they are great listeners and very good at matching your preferences to their extensive selection of gear. I'm almost never done considering changes to my audio setup, and Audio High is the first place I'll go when I'm upgrading again, even though I don't live close by anymore. read more

Man - the two fellas at the front are awesome!! I have to thank them publicly in allowing me to spend numerous hours in bringing in my equipment to test with theirs as well as for letting me spend hours with their equipment in the listening room!! I was kind of intimidated by the website because of all the celebs and what not that they have pieced together equipment for. I'm definitely not a big baller and you'd never see me my PORTABLE rig on their website, but I DO find value in spending my well earned money for audio equipment (from time to time) in my endeavors to find the ultimate sound signatures and components that mesh best with my ears. If I could give 10 starts I would. I've never encountered any place that treats their customers as well as this one. I've had discussions for over two hours of undivided attention and zero push to buy anything. The salesperson was very knowledgeable and was able to explain every technical detail I was interested in. In fact I left with homework and was warned that the product I was looking at will sometimes go on sale and that I could try waiting a while to get it at a better price. At this point I don't even care, and I'll just get it at full price. These guys deserve every penny. The difference in the way they treated me as opposed to places like Magnolia is night and day. This place is very weird to me personally... I got there on a quiet morning. Nobody was there but one salesman with heavy accent who didn't really care about us visiting at all... maybe it was a cultural thing? Maybe judging from my look and appearance, I was unlikely one of their high end customers? Room was dark and so quiet (for good reasons of course) that it was a little creepy. Every sentence the salesman spoke had less than 5 words I think... Maybe for a super duper music expert, this place is good, as suggested by other reviewers. But I definitely feel it is not a friendly place for all. Maybe it is just the style of the store? To give people a fancy and high-end feeling? But there are many family users who want to buy a $2,000 speaker as well. read more

I messaged Audio High asking if I could demo some high end headphones. They were pleasant to speak with over email, and very accommodating when I arrived with my girlfriend in person. They allowed both of us to freely listen to any headphones we wanted to without trying to be pushy on anything for over an hour and a half. We were provided with two setups so that my girlfriend and I could listen at the same time, which I found to be very thoughtful. The salesperson we worked with always had insightful comments regarding his opinion on the sound when asked, and he even entertained me asking him to try out my personal headphones that I brought to compare. It felt extraordinarily friendly, with no pressure. Though I ended up needing to purchase my desired headphones elsewhere due to a timing issue, I wish I could have given Audio High my business. If you are interested in purchasing high end headphones or speakers, I can't imagine a better place than Audio High. Any future audio needs I have will go through them. read more

These guys are real Professionals. They were able to easily get into the Lutron system and fix a couple switches for me. They were on time they worked efficiently and made a lot of great adjustments like my Loutron shades were stretched out a little bit over the years and we're touching my window ledge. Lots of small things that mean a lot to me to be fixed. Roli, Larry, and Anthony were all great. The hours that they charged me were very reasonable and I appreciated that!! What a fantastic store! Rarely do you walk into a store and feel so comfortable and relaxed. It looks a lot more like a home rather than a store. Their tiered theater with the star ceiling is to die for! Eugene and Jazz(sp?) were welcoming and gave me the grand tour and got me acquainted with their music player and headphone amps/DACs. I wasted no time in demo'ing all their cans that interested me(HD800, LCD-2, LCD-X). When I was satisfied with what I heard, I thanked then for their time and left. Before I left they kindly invited me back for an event they are hosting on the 22nd of October. Absolutely zero pressure to buy. I've been a casual aficionado of audio equipment for years and have visited many specialty audio shops in first in Chicago, then in Los Angeles and now the Bay Area. Bar none, Audio High was the best customer experience I've ever received. The staff was incredibly knowledgable and willing to spend time with me to find a pair of speakers which would fit my music tastes as well as the particularities of my home (Eichler = open spaces & lots of glass). As I gradually worked my way through 5 pairs of speakers over two visits Jez, the sales representative, patiently talked with about the differences I was noticing and explained why I might be hearing them. He then did the same with with a few amplifiers and a DAC. All this without a single comment, glance or even gesture rushing me into a sale which I really appreciated. I left happy with my purchase and felt my choice was well informed and the pricing fair. From the pictures on the wall and the equipment they carry these guys definitely do extremely high end installations. Even though my budget may not have matched their best customers, I felt like one. After buying a house and having a baby this year, i'm trying to be frugal for the coming year. I just bought a nice projector setup, so upon talking with my wife, we agreed on an entry level 2.0 system under 1k, with an option to expand to 5.1 when more funds free up. After a bunch of looking around, I narrowed it down between the B&W 685's and the KEF Q300's, with the possibility of an LS50. These guys are the only KEF dealership in the area, so I called ahead, and they verified they had the Q300's available for a demo. The guy at front didn't smile or make me feel welcome, and told me that selling equipment was just a very tiny percent of what they do. Ok great, I may be in the market in the future for some acoustic work on my theater room. He took me in the room, and asked me what I was going to be using them for. I explained it would probably be for movies/music, and I was looking for something neutral like my Sennheiser HD600's. He made a face of slight disgust at me, but I let that go. I get that they're not the best headsets money can buy, once again, i'm entry level here. We talked a bit more, but he left me there to demo the Q300's. After about 20m, I liked what I heard, but when I went outside and told him that, he looked at me and shrugged. This made me wonder, so I questioned him, and he gave a half-assed, "no, they're good speakers." I then asked about the price, since I noticed it was $150 cheaper online, I asked if he could price match. He quickly said no, and then before I could say anything else, said "buy them." This took me off guard, and he explained "buy them online." I shook his hand and left. I felt like I was being both judged and blown off throughout the process. It didn't feel like they wanted my money from the moment I walked in. Maybe something about my appearances rubbed them the wrong way? Maybe someone was having a bad day? Either way, a few clicks away and my speakers are on their way. read more

Eugene rocks! We are trying to get ourselves a really great home theater system, and stumbled across this place. We had already visited multiple hi-fi audio stores, and this one is by far the best. Eugene helped us out through our entire process. We probably went there about 3 to 4 times, spending more than an hour each time. He explained all the different types of speaker options, hooked them up in whatever configuration we needed, and let us audition them at leisure. He took a lot of time to demo everything, and in almost all cases, we ran over their official closing time. But there was no pressure whatsoever. He also gave us a demo of the super expensive Meridian speakers, to set reference points. (YES, those were amazing!) We have decided on buying the Dali speakers, and will buy them from Audio High. Now I am waiting for the economy to get better, so that I can afford these ;) read more

As someone just getting into the audiophile world with no experience with high-end audio equipment, I came in thinking I wasn't worthy enough to audition anything there. But as soon as I walked in, Eugene made me feel right at home. I was able to test different Audeze headphones (LCD-2, 3, and X's), Sennheiser HD800s, and even the KEF Blades with no pressure at all. Just got off of lunch when I decided to check this place out. I had seen this place online and was piqued by their high-end headphone setup, particularly, the Audeze LCD3's and X's. I was a bit worried having a random one-off visit, coming totally unprepared without any of my own music, source or amplification. I was dreading the mockery and bile so prevalent in snooty high end audio, that I would run off frightened and ashamed that I hadn't dared bring my $5k worth of equipment to show my worth. Of course, that was no such case. I walked into a gorgeous open lobby area. I met with Jez, whose eyes lit up when I mentioned I was there for the Audeze's. The setup wasn't ready, but that didn't stop him! He quickly drummed up a quick solution, and without any pretense, encouraged me to try out as many of the models that I wanted with any of their CDs. He pulled out a Grails album, pulled me up a badass listening chair, and left me to their devices. I felt at home. Absolutely zero pressure, great service, and a great conversation. The guys here know their stuff. It's worth noting that they specialize in home theater systems, but they love all their equipment equally. It was very endearing. I didn't end up buying anything, and he was none perturbed. He seemed to be happy to be talking to another audio enthusiast and Grails fan. Had a chance to listen to the Kef LS50 today at the store. Jez was helping me compare the LS50 and R300 (swapped the speakers a couple times). With that I got to really hear how they sound with the songs I'm familiar with. It's pretty easy for him to figure out that I'm a newbie in this hobby and he spent the time to walk me through the differences of those speakers. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but if/when I do get a Kef I'd get it from this store to support them. read more

These folks did a great job of upgrading our old Audio Visual set-up along with our indoor/outdoor zoned audio system. The owner (Michael Silver) came out to our home & did a complimentary evaluation of the mish-mash of equipment & built-in speakers & wiring - then we went back to the store for an in-depth demo of several options to simplify and upgrade the systems. I was impressed at their skill in integrating our cable, DSL, audio zones, old equipment, new HD TVs, new equipment etc. We're now able ot use 1 remote to switch between TV, DVD, DVR, stored movies, Wii, Audio, iPod, a VCR, & a turntable. We opted for a media storage system called Kaleidescape (http://www.kaleidescape.com/) which holds about 700 CDs & 300 DVDs - so it was great to be able to put all the DVD boxes in jewel cases away in the basement & declutter our family room. I communicated with other places like audiovisionsf or prohomesystems and they did not always respond or follow up my emails. WOW! What a great place to buy audio equipment. I needed to purchase some audio equipment for a business and they were very accomodating. Even though I did not need the highest quality equipment they listened to all my needs, let me listen to some of their speakers. To get a better idea of what was needed, Jez even came into my store. For Christmas, I want to treat myself to some new headphones for home as well as outfitting a new pair of cans for work purposes. Noticing they are a local Audeze retailer (Yay!), I visited Audio High for the purposes of trying on pairs of open-back LCD-4, closed-back LCD-XC and closed-back LCD-2s. When I walked in, nobody was present. There appeared to be a wall of Audeze and other headphones. One gentleman was on his computer in an office, apparently he couldn't help me so he called out to someone in the back. Someone else came out and asked what I was looking for. I mentioned I wanted to try on the LCD-2s to start. He kind of looked at me weird and asked what I wanted to use them for. I mentioned I have a JDS O2/odac amp on my desk at work and am looking for some new headphones. He somewhat rudely asked "...and you are wanting to just take these?". I said no, but I wanted to try them on and give them a listen. He told me he couldn't let me listen to them because they don't have an available source. They have a wall of premium cans, but nothing to plug them into? Don't expect to be able to walk in and make a purchase. I was walking in ready to purchase two pairs of headphones, and they couldn't even help me listen to the ~$5800 worth of kit I was ready to buy today. It was a weird, uncomfortable, awkward experience, where I was all but ignored, and the "salesperson" made me out to feel like the weirdo that wasn't walking in with his own audio rack. The "showroom" was a complete disorganized mess, and in the end I couldn't come anywhere close to even making a simple purchase. I don't know what the deal with this place is, but go somewhere else. read more
