I have nothing but amazing feelings and thoughts about Dan, Electra and the whole team at SoundCheck Music School. We enrolled our son in guitar lessons ten years ago and never in our wildest dreams did we think it would turn into this. After about 2-3 live band performances each year, our son is flourishing in music and has developed an artistic personality that has lead to his band, The Silence, to do great things. They recently won first place at Battle of the Bands at Northridge Park on May 16th. They will be performing at the Valley Blockfest in Chatsworth on June 28th along with having their very first gig at the Whiskey a Go Go on July 17th. The environment at SoundCheck is so welcoming and encouraging that every student we see perform there gets better and better every time. The culture that Dan and Electra have built has also brought the parents closer together as we all high five each other every time we see our children perform and flourish. I was referred to Electra by a classmate at MI back in 2017, and hearing how strong, her voice was, I knew that Electra was the real deal. Years later, not only has SoundCheck Music School grown, but Electra and Dan's family has grown too!! I got to meet their kids for the first time!!! I want to support their business for all they do for the music industry and those who want to build on their talents and learn new instruments. I've just started taking Bass lessons with Josh and Voice lessons with Kristelle. In just the first lessons, both music teachers showed me techniques and tips to better my skills. Josh gave me pointers on my form in how to hold the bass, pluck, slide with control, and he's really encouraging and look forward to learning more. Kristelle was so great from the beginning. She made it a point to let me know that I'm allowed to make mistakes and that I was in a safe place, and it's nice to be reminded. Right off the bat, she noticed the bad habits I've built in singing, and made me more aware of how I can break those bad habits. Soundcheck Music School is both a center for musical education AND a family. My daughter has been taking singing lessons since she was 8 1/2 (she's now 14 1/2) and the growth and development has been amazing. I was looking for the right school for my kid to learn to play drums. On a recommendation we looked to Soundcheck. My kid loves it here. His teacher is tops and the crew at Soundcheck are amazing. Our kids have done the three big local band performance programs, Soundcheck, Join the Band, and just completed the School of Rock today. The biggest difference between the three programs is that the students at SoundCheck take the stage with confidence. That says a lot since the students coming out of this program were taught the skills they needed and the owners care about their students. The other programs are just take the money and run type of programs. The owners especially at School of Rock don't show any care as he sits in his office majority of the time with his back to people. School of Rock sends group messages without any individualize messaging, so you have no idea how your child is doing. Electra and Dan talk to each parent individually. You would think a big corporate program like School of Rock would be very organized, but Soundcheck runs circles around the big guys. Electra and Dan, the owners, really care about their students and want to be sure their students put on the best show they can. Their students don't go on stage embarrassing themselves because they were taught the skills and confidence to be rockstars by the Electra, Dan, and other teachers here. I probably shouldn't say this here, but Soundcheck is way undercharging for their programs. There is no better program than what is being ran here! Don't waste your time with the others like we have! We just moved out of state this week and are going to dearly miss Electra and Dan! read more

If you're serious about improving your singing, come to find Electra. She is one of the best vocal coach one can have. Ive been having vocal lessons with Electra over a year now. I gotta say Ive learned so much from her and I'm so happy with the improvements on my singing skills. What makes Electra so great is that she teaches each student differently based on student's voice. So the teaching is tailored for individuals. Yeah you wanna be the next Ed Sheera, Adele, bla bla bla, I get that. But she will make you YOU. She will guide you to understand your own voice and bring out the best of it. She will make you a singer. What I also love about SoundCheck is they host students live show like every once in a while. It really gives the students the chance to embrace the stage and the crowd. Getting used to it and feeling excited about it makes you a better musician. Also among the drummers in the world, Dan has the coolest dreadlocks. :p read more

I was recommended to Electra by a friend, as I was looking to improve my range & vocal stamina. Within 2 lessons, Electra had my problems diagnosed and solved. What I learned is that a vast majority of my issues stemmed from proper breathing and placement. She's a strong, patient teacher, but she accepts nothing but your best effort. I was a little lost when my son asked for drum lessons... i found this school on facebook and checked yelp which had great reviews so I figured... lets try a lesson. My son really loves it here... mind you my son sometimes needs a push to work a little harder and Dan gave him just that, he kept in contact with me on what my son would need to work on and would work with me in holding him accountable when it's obvious he hasnt been practicing. The school provides a safe comfortable environment for anyone who would like to explore their musical side and I am thrilled my son found his place here. SoundCheck is an amazing music school. My kids have been coming here for years taking guitar, voice, and piano lessons, in addition to participating in their band program and performing at their live shows. Our kids' musical skills have improved so much and their confidence has increased since they have started taking music classes here. The school is really great for all ages, all skill levels, and all musical aspirations (which, for us, was very important because one of our kids is consumed with music while the other one just does it for a hobby). Their teachers are all excellent in terms of their musical skills but also in terms of their rapport with the kids. That's what brought us to the school in the first place, but we have gotten so much more out of it than just that. The owners of SoundCheck are a dream and have really created a warm community around the school. They are so such a pleasure to work with and make everything easy on the students and parents. They are also really excellent at communication, and they are great with scheduling and sending scheduling reminders. Also, for what it's worth, the school has a great location, and is great about accessibility and parking. This was a real issue at our last music school. We have found their pricing and policies to be really fair and comparable if not more competitive with other music schools. I've been playing guitar off and on for roughly 25 years. I started at age 13 at my Junior High (when music was still taught in public schools). I learned the basics. But I never learned theory. Since then I've depended on friends to teach me what to play but I never knew the ins and outs or why's. So fast forward to about a month ago. I saw an ad for Soundcheck Music School. They had a great promo going. And I emailed them to get more info. I received an immediate reply from Dan Welby (Co-owner and instructor for drums). We set up an appointment that was convenient to me. I went in and had my trial lesson with Josh. He asked what my goals were and what he could help me with. We proceeded from there. Josh, I found to be very knowledgeable and passionate about guitar. He doesn't teach at you. He works with you and explains and teaches in-depth. I found a whole new passion for guitar. Josh opened up the guitar to me and I see it in a whole new way. So much to discover. So in summary. Soundcheck Music School works with YOUR schedule. They adjust the curriculum to your needs and level. And the owners and teachers are really nice people. I seen how they interact with adults and kids.
