Located on the main square in downtown Lakeland, Black & Brew is a wonderful option for coffee…read more There is plenty of indoor seating and a limited number of tables just outside. The vibe is awesome with brick walls, tasteful decor, and pleasant music, and just what I look for in a local coffee shop. Prices are fairly reasonable with many drink and food options. Although there was a bit of line when I visited, it moved quickly and staff was efficient in getting ordered items out to guests. I went with a white mocha frappe (5/5), asking for it to be made less sweet. It's not something I ordinarily see on the menu at local coffee shops, so was delighted at how good it was, with just the right amount of sweetness to it. It's shame that there's nothing like it at coffee shops close to where I live, as it's something that'd be in my regular rotation of caffeinated drinks I'd order. As my friends and I enjoyed our experience here, I'd definitely return to Black & Brew, and would recommend them to others looking for a quality coffee shop in Lakeland.

The standout for me was the Holiday Ham breakfast sandwich, and it absolutely lived up to its name. Built on a flaky buttermilk biscuit, it layers a light, fluffy egg soufflé with thinly sliced ham, praline bacon that adds just the right touch of sweetness, and a cranberry orange jam that ties everything together with a bright, unexpected pop. Every bite tasted thoughtful and seasonal without being overcomplicated--comfort food elevated. I paired it with Jennie's Dolce seasonal espresso drink, and it was so good I immediately wanted another. Even more impressive? The second one tasted just as perfect as the first--a small detail that says a lot about their consistency and care behind the bar. The coffee shop ambience immediately stands out, with a relaxed yet polished vibe that makes it just as ideal for a casual morning as it is for catching up on work or meeting friends. Service was warm and efficient, and you can tell this place has become a staple in the downtown community. If you appreciate creative twists on classic breakfast favorites and expertly crafted coffee drinks, Black & Brew is well worth the stop. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

This is a super cute restaurant in downtown Lakeland. It feels like you are at your friend's house…read morehaving dinner. The staff is very attentive and well trained in the menu. Our server described the dishes perfectly. I tried the Beef Wellington and loved it. I was not crazy about the mashed potatoes I felt like they lacked flavor but the Beef Wellington was the star. We also had the Cherry Roasted Duck. Again cooked perfectly I just wish it was a larger portion. This is on the pricey side so be ready to splurge a little.

Small European style bistro on the north end of downtown lakeland, there can't be much more than…read moredozen tables. Reservations are essential on busy days. The menu is french inspired but portions are over the top even by american standards. The cordon blue must have used two chicken breasts as it was easily 10" long and at least 3" across. Honestly, it's enough for dinner, lunch, and dinner again the next day and that's coming from a guy. The cooking was well prepared, chicken and fish were cooked to the correct doneness, but there's a few places for improvement. Too many things were overly salty and the chef seems to favor garlic to the point that it impairs the flavors of the rest of the food. I would never have described the brussel sprouts as "pan fried", they were boiled and then hit a pan for like 30 seconds. One of the heavily salted items, between the texture and the salt, they were nearly inedible. One quick side rant - do restaurants not understand that we all have cell phones and can google the retail price of a bottle of wine? I'm not paying $10/glass for a wine that is $11/bottle (and probably not buying $11 wine anyway). Cut your prices in half and you'll actually sell so much more that you'll make up the profit in volume. Win-win. For a french menu, I didn't see a single french wine on the list. Hmmm Desserts sounded great, the only one we had was the creme brulee. The custard was perfect with a strong vanilla flavor and you could see the beans in it. The caramelized sugar was too thick. You should be able to crack it by tapping it with your spoon, not have to stab it to force it to break. Anything more than 1 mm is too thick. Getting all frenchie and metric on you. Still, a respectable place. I'd like to see a wider variety of herbs and spices used and tone down the the salt and garlic. This place has michelin potential, but is held back by Food Prep 101 mistakes.

Amazing early dinner this afternoon for my partners birthday…read more Ahi tuna appetizer was great! Served on a bed of arugula and cucumber with a snappy dressing. Beef medallions with shrimp and smashed potatoes. And, blackened Mahi with red beans and rice and collard greens. The food here is flavorful and truly fantastic. Pomegranate martinis with a basil leaf for flavor. First time sitting at the bar. Nicole, our server/barmaid was an absolute GEM! Her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor, plus her menu and libation knowledge is one of the biggest reasons we will return to sit with her. The service was outstanding and the food honestly never disappoints. The restaurant is clean, and everyone is very friendly. If you have never been to Harry's Seafood, definitely give it a whirl. One complaint: each table features a card advertising happy hour. Although we were there during happy hour, drinks are not available at the happy hour price. Our waiter was as confused about that as we were. He said the cards had been there quite some time. Misleading if not downright deceitful. I love this place too much to make a fuss, but I felt like my loyalty had been betrayed.
