When I say the have one of the best slices of carrot cake I've ever had.. I mean it. I drove from Brandon all the way to Lakeland slice of this carrot cake. I have to find one like it in my area. Luckily, it's also a coffee shop so I usually get a coffee as well. If you've never been here, they're located in downtown Lakeland. Now on this particular visit wasn't too busy and I was able to order and get everything right away. The lady working the front was so sweet when I told her how much I love the carrot cake she got me a fresh slice of a new cake and it was so good!! The carrot cake by itself would be perfect but velvety cream cheese icing on top really brings it together. No on this visit I did get a nice latte as well. That was a little dark when it first came out, and she could tell by the look on my face that something wasn't right and she fixed it right away lol. Had the croissant sausage egg and cheese sandwich was delicious as well as the coffee. They have a lot of variety for drink as well as freshly baked goods and pastries along with cookies. Various coffees cold and hot. A good value for a delicious sandwich. The employees are helpful and patient and a pleasure to speak with. This is one of those places you go to when you just want to relax a lot of people go there to work on their computers they have Wi-Fi. It's more of a very easy going relaxing pause in the day. Highly recommend if you're in the area Saturday mornings they have the farmers produce market there which takes up four blocks. I can't say everything is good bc I never was able to stay for breakfast, I was here on a modeling gig. I can say what I got here is not just inexpensive but freaking good! I got a ham, cheddar, and egg sandwich two days in a row! It was so good. Now the hash browns were very greasy. I also tried there chicken gumbo and I would not recommend! The flavor is more spice then season and overly rued. It was giving trying but not accomplished. I've had better gumbo in Chicago. However the sandwich was fire. The hashbrows were ok, I don't hate them, I purchased them twice. My opinion still stands on the grease it heavy on grease but perfect for a hangover lol. Everyone was very nice in the restaurant. The service can be slow bc the coworkers talk more about personal things vs getting the orders done but it's still good! Nice quaint Coffe shop located in down town Lakeland. The ambiance is Awesome some business, some students studying, some church talk and some walk-in regulars. Michael and Emma/Hannah were incredible and provided excellent service! The ambiance is cute and it's clear that a number of people go here for not only a yummy meal, but also a great working space that's very unkept. The muffins were yummy and fresh (I enjoyed the blueberry and pistachio muffins) and I tore up the bowl with avocado, scrambled eggs and parmesan cheese that I removed and substituted with turkey. Very cute coffee shop in downtown Lakeland. We stopped here while visiting the Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning. There was a line; however, it moved quickly. I ordered two frozen lattes (similar to Frappuccino): snickers and caramel. The snickers latte tasted like a chocolate or mocha latte. The caramel latte was very good; good coffee flavor and not too sweet. For food, we ordered croissant egg and cheese sandwiches (I substituted the pork meat options for Turkey deli meat); it was very good. Overall, I would recommend this coffee shop. Nice area, tasty and reasonably-priced food, and good coffee. My rating is more so a 3.5. read more

This place is adorable and quite a good meeting spot with great energy. I regularly order their Mitchell's signature breakfast burritos for my work crew and always grab a latte when I come in to pick them up. My crews LOVE them and they are always helpful because sometimes I am ordering 15-20 of them. They are generous and very unique. The reason for the 4 stars is their service counter is always distracted and very slow. VERY slow. The line gets backed up with as many as 10 or more people who have to wait in line for a very long time-so much so some of them just walk right out the door because they don't want to wait. They would do extremely well and not lose customers if they train their staff better. They are good people just not trained as well as they could be to greet people immediately and acknowledge the patience their customers have for waiting so long. They could gain great value in having a dedicated barista just to keep the orders coming out in a timely fashion. Great potential if they would spend some time working on their management skills and front of house customer experience. read more

Not the same value of the initial Mitchell's. One worker said the place sold last May to different ppl. *sad face* We ordered a turkey cheese wrap (comes with chips and pickle wedge). Chips were tortilla and looked like a toddler grabbed what was in the bottom of a bag to put on my plate. Also ordered a sausage breakfast sandwich, which was a 3/5. Could make at home. Coffee was mediocre. Lastly, ordered a chocolate chip cookie- had high hopes because it was as big as a frisbee, but tasted day-old. Cinnamon bun looked good at first, but evidently icing has become a scarcity. Even asked for more and well, hardly got more. They are stingy with the icing. Had to ask for the desserts after waiting on them. Tipped too. Oh, for the love of Mitchell's of the past. Those days are gone I think. read more

I've been coming to the Lakeland area for a while and my barber is always getting a coffee from here so I figured I would give it a try. The staff is nice, service was fast, the shop was quaint, but the coffee was no good in my opinion. I got the salted caramel latte that was advertised. It tasted watery, lacked flavor and I was just not impressed. My fiancé felt the same about the s'mores iced coffee she got. I'd possibly try this location again if I was feeling lazy and not wanting to walk like 2 blocks to my go to spot. Time will tell if I return. read more

Food: Food and drinks were really good and I don't like coffee. But I kept grabbing for Brittany's cup. They have a lot of flavors and all the ones in our group tasted great. The deserts are also very good. Carrot cake is one of Brittany's top desserts and this was her second favorite across the entire east coast of America. The cinnamon roll was also amazing! Huge! Great flavor. Atmosphere: Mitchel's has a coffee shop feel. It was closing time when we went so it was quiet and spacious. I liked it. You can see in my video what to expect. Kids or Date: Both! This is a cute little coffee/cafe and bakery. The first time I went I had a breakfast burrito. It was ok, could have used some type of salsa or hot sauce just to give it a bit more flavor. I also had a latte which I found to be very tasty. The next time I went I shared one of their very large cinnamon rolls with a friend along with a Carmel Latte. The roll was very tasty and you don't need the icing with it at all. On the way out I bought a couple of their large chocolate chip and one of the peanut butter and jelly cookies to take home for the family. The chocolate chip cookies were good but the peanut butter and jelly cookie was a complete letdown. I was expecting a peanut butter cookie but all I got a plain cookie with a little bit of peanut butter and jelly stuffed in one small portion of the cookie. If you weren't eating that specific portion, there was no flavor otherwise. I will likely go back as it is a nice place to meet friends and chit chat. And the coffee is good. I was near lakeland in the morning and searched for the coffee place around me. I decided to have coffee and quick breakfast at Mitchell's Coffee House. It is a small cafe with a very good atmosphere. They also have books which one can read and also work from the cafe. After browsing through the menu I decided to order Latte Espresso Drink and Veggie wrap. I got my latte in 5 minutes. The latte was hot and freshly brewed. I loved the latte. In another 5-10 minutes i got my veggie wrap. The wrap was also delicious and loved the wrap. Amazing cafe with beautiful atmosphere in the cafe. read more

I tried the Almond Joy Iced Latte and it was so good! It tasted just like the candy bar. I also had a croissant sandwich and it was so good!! The croissant was so buttery and the sausage was flavorful. I like that Mitchell's is in the downtown Lakeland, it's so convenient to get to. The layout of their building isn't typical but does take away from the food or service. The staff was friendly. They were busy when i came in so it took a few minutes, but the server apologized. We love Mitchell's Favorite Burritos. Most of the time they get the hash browns and bacon crispy inside the burrito, and the chipotle sauce sets it apart. Went here after the Lakeland farmers market one weekend. It has a prime location in downtown and I've been meaning to stop by, especially since I am a coffee aficionado. They have several menus scattered around. I ordered a nitro cold brew with milk and sugar, and the girl handed to me a coffee drink with very little milk, so I asked for more. Oh my gosh. It appears they are pouring hot coffee over ice and calling it cold brew. So watery. It was actually undrinkable! I dumped it out. Unless they thought I got something else? First visit to Mitchell's and we were greeted by the friendly staff when we walked in the door. We ordered I Dream of Jeannie frappe and hot drink, an iced latte and a huge chocolate chip cookie. What a nice and comfortable coffee shop to come in, chill out and read a book or enjoy time with family and friends. We definitely recommend this coffee shop. You can also order breakfast or lunch. Update 2nd visit MARCH 10- we were here for late breakfast and ordered croissant with bacon and cheddar, ranchero burrito (scrambled egg, ham, onion, peppers, cheddar and salsa), a apple cinnamon Muffin, iced latte, butternut toffee latte, and vanilla latte. The place was busy and we really enjoyed the food and coffee drinks. We ordered at the counter and our food and drinks were delivered to the table. The staff is friendly and charming. Definitely worth a visit for breakfast or lunch. This is also located on the street that the farmers market takes place. 3rd visit and still loving it. Today we ordered Short stack of pancakes with scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage patty and hash browns. The pancakes are huge and so very tasty, the hash browns are crisp and probably the best I've had. We also ordered the bacon cheddar and egg croissant which is always good. While I'm updating my 9 yr old review and adding a star, much of the original review still stands. Parking nearby is "iffy" so visits are rare. They don't have nonfat milk, a preference for my iced lattes and their unsweetened almond milk provides a funny taste (or was it the hazelnut syrup). They charge more for oat or almond milk. It's Lakeland's first coffeeshop and patronized by many. I still find it chaotic behind the counter and too noisy to dine in. Their pastry case is so full of condensation you can't see the offerings and can't help but wonder if the drippings land on the products. It is available during the popular Saturday farmers market but I found it funny that they maintain an unmanned table in front of their store to drive customers in the store (or to keep other vendors from blocking their store?) In any event, it's last on my list of coffee shops for many reasons. Granted others may find it wonderful for all the reasons I don't like it. read more

Who doesn't love a coffee shop downtown? I love the homie feel that comes with the rustic, small-town decor. There is plenty of seating, in addition to a patio that is secluded by a fence. It was a tad bit loud outside, and the fence didn't do any noise control. I also noticed right inside the entrance to the shop they had a board and area for local papers, business cards, etc., Which can be really helpful! I purchased a cinnamon roll that was HUGE. They offered to warm it up and put icing on the top! I also got a salted caramel iced coffee that had soooo much flavor. They had various options of food and drinks to choose from!
