The crust is definitely the star. The sauce is just right tangy with a bit of sweet. Toppings are great and they throw in fresh basil after it has been heated. Chewy but crispy crust with a selection of just about all my favorite toppings. I started with sausage green pepper and my daughter had cheese. Excellent selection of soft drinks in cooler (Jaritos, Polar Orange Dry...) You can eat there but not great atmosphere. And I could feel the cold on my feet and legs so not even cozy warm in winter. One of the best pizza shops I've been to... in Concord NH no less! Usually the dough is an afterthought but it plays front row here with a cold fermented sourdough base upon which the various pies are built around. These are a bit like the square pan pizza slices at the famous Prince Street Pizza in NYC. Dough has great flavor but their topping combos are sublime as well. Ate the Vodka (house made vodka sauce, mozzarella, stracciatella, fresh basil), Fungi 2.0 (thyme cream sauce, mozzarella, house roasted mushrooms, caramelized onion, lemon truffle aioli), and Eagle Square (crushed tomatoes, mozzarella, pepperoni, ricotta dollops, hot honey) which are regulars on the menu along with 4 others and then a rotating weekly special. Sour Joe's Pizzeria (The Pizza Project) opened their physical location in Downtown Concord on Pleasant St Ext between Main St and Storrs St. They have been doing pizza pop-ups around the area, mainly at local breweries and festivals. They offer several kinds of square/rectangular pizza slices with a homemade sourdough crust which changes often and may include the Eagle Square, Fungi, Sausage Pepper, Margherita, Spinach & Artichoke, Spicy Calabrese, Potatoes Rosemary, and Vodka, $5-$6 plus tax for each slice. The pizza slices selection changes each day and is sort of similar to Sicilian and Detroit style, except the sourdough crust is semi thick, not greasy and no extra tomato sauce covering the pizza. They also offer cold drinks from the cooler. They cater to the Downtown Concord lunchtime crowd and they are open until sold out and their hours vary. They closed early on Tuesday since they were overwhelmed by demand and sold out of product. I stopped by Sour Joe's Pizzeria for lunch takeout during my lunch break twice in the same week. They had 5-6 kinds of pizza slices to choose from on display. On the first visit, I picked up two slices including the Eagle Square ($6 plus tax) and a Sausage Pepper ($6 plus tax) and I was in and out quickly. On the second visit, word of mouth must have spread quickly and the place was very busy with 5-15 minute waits for pizza slices. I also picked up two slices again including the Margherita ($5 plus tax) and the Spinach Artichoke ($5.75 plus tax). Total second visit time was 17 minutes. Each of the slices had a good tasty combination of toppings on top of their semi thick soft & slightly chewy sourdough crust. The Eagle Square had pepperoni, crushed tomatoes, fresh basil, hot honey mozzarella cheese, and soft sweet ricotta cheese. The Sausage Pepper had pieces of ground sausage, mozzarella, marinated cherry peppers, crushed tomatoes, fresh basil. Each slices was excellent and I finished both slices before resuming work. The Margherita had fresh mozzarella, crushed tomatoes, basil, olive oil. The Spinach Artichoke had fresh spinach, artichoke hearts, feta, mozzarella. Sour Joe's is now one of my new lunch spots for pizza slices! Just be aware the place can get extremely busy during the lunch rush. read more

Not sure what the buzz about this place is all about. Expensive for what you get. Not the best counter service as the cashier looked lost in the eyes the entire time. Yes, they crust is decent enough, but that is it. The taste on the cheese and vodka was underwhelming. We were hoping for more. I've been coming to this place since they opened a few months ago. I seriously need to limit myself, as I can easily go broke eating an entire pizza for every meal of every day. The place is quiet, well arranged, and makes for an easy place to drop in and grab a slice. While it may not be set up for large groups, there's always to option to take an entire pie home and follow their reheating instructions. Pizza that....I guess? Is for people who want "healthy pizza." I've never been anywhere with most of the pizza just bread and very little in the way of toppings and cheese. If you're looking for a decadent treat...this is not it. If you want fussy pizza with scant toppings and only a slight brush with cheese, this is for you. My friend and I went there for lunch. I got fungi and she got Buffalo. Both were barely warm. They both were really dry with a parsimonious amount of sort of dried-up cheese. Her's had literally zero sauce (you'd think it would be like maybe blue cheese dressing with Sciracha?--but no) and she said the chicken was like eating a dried sponge, coated with something. The fungi was better than that but not by much.We found the crust ridiculously hard to eat, like gnawing on a bone, and almost impossible to tear into it. Had such high hopes for this place. What a let down! So much hype. If the people were friendly that would be one thing but the girl taking orders seems like she hates customers. read more

The person on the counter didn't acknowledge us, and when I told her we hadn't been there before, she offered no help. When I went in near closing time they still had a great selection of slices ready to be heated, I got two and they were both great! Best pizza I've found in NH so far. Wow! Concord now has two outstanding, totally different pizza places. Along with NH Pizza on Main St (which I have raved about) there now is Sour Joe's just around the corner. One thing that separates the two is that Joe's does slices. The slices are square with an outstanding sourdough crust. The pizza case had plenty of option from white pizza to buffalo chicken. I chose one with a salami and cherry peppers and the other pepperoni. Joe's obviously uses high quality ingredients. The pepperoni was cupped and charred appropriately. The cheese was gooey but not overly thick. I could go on about the other slice but I may drool on my keyboard. You need to try Sour Joe's! read more
