Elyse took the time (which I consider a display of people actually caring) to contact me back. She was concerned, her tone genuine and she was interested in taking steps with me to remedy my negative experience. People have their off days. Perhaps the person answering my call that day was having one too. I never know who's going to read my reviews once I hit post and it spirals off into the internet atmosphere. If you do not have an HR person, they can come out to help with anything you might need - recruitment, employee handbook, staff training, you name it. If you do have an HR person, they are still a wonderful organization to belong to because they can assist with any of the more tricky issues (legal woes, FLMA, worker's comp, discrimination, etc.), and provide ongoing training and support. My boss used them before he hired me to help him handle many of the HR functions of our organization, and once I came on board they helped us to develop our HR department and continue to provide aid whenever we need it. They have an "HR Hotline" when you have a question about employment law or other odd issues. They offer a yearly HR conference and a yearly Employment Law conference right here in the burbs, and both are fantastic.
