I would recommend this school to our community from now on.

Today we drove around the DMV I will be taking the test on during rush hour. PROS: - Homer was right on time - He gave lots of useful tips/ rules that I overlooked/ did not know - He asked about my goals and we practiced around the DMV. He knew the exact route CONS: - Some parts of the car weren't working. The back camera and the button that adjusted the side view mirrors (not a big deal, I just did it manually) - When I was driving around where the test will be, he got really impatient. He was frustrated and made snappy comments and would say things under his breath when I missed what he said or when I did not get what he said the first time. Apparently I was too cautious. I was overwhelmed during rush hour and all he was telling me while driving that at one point he kind of aggressively said "you should know this- maybe you shouldn't take the test but take another lesson with me". That is why I booked the lesson for stuff I may have missed! He repeated it several times. I did not say anything and then asked if i had someone i can practice with/ car and I said yes. After, he after did say that practicing with anyone will be good. At the end he said that my driving wasn't bad and that I could pass the test. Not sure where the attitude came from then. Good touch up driving school with useful tips, but if you want a more chill and less stressful lesson/s I may consider another option.

AAA is typically great for customers, but this department is a rip off!!! Pay up front for the "on…read moresale package" of the class and behind the wheel sessions. Weeks later you finish the online and pass the permit test, and then try to book behind the wheel dates. NO OPENINGS FOR SIX WEEKS! You can't start driving without the first completed session. So this means you lose 1.5 months of having you permit because AAA can't get you in with an instructor. This doesn't help new drivers get all the practice and become safer! At that point I asked for a refund and was told they would be keeping the $75 three day admin fee. There was no way for me to know that this problem existed within three days of buying the package! Speaking with supervisors doesn't help. I won't renew my membership.

Before daycare, our main care taker was my mother in law and my daughter was thriving. But due to…read morean upcoming trip, she would have to leave the country for a little over a month so it was time to find an alternate option for child care while my wife and I are working. Though relatively short notice, we had about 3 months to look at our options. As most parents do, we have asked around for recommendations from our friends and my own independent research. Unfortunately, all of those locations were either a capacity or were not accepting children until the following year. We were almost about to give up and just hire a temporary nanny to care for our daughter during work hours when we stumbled upon Little Stars Learn & Play Center. Curious, I called the number listed on yelp/google and the administrator, Ms. Asma, answered. We told her about our situation and that we were looking for a daycare to watch our then 22 month old daughter. She recommended we schedule a tour for just my wife and I to get a feel of the facilities and teachers. The building is very inconspicuous which you kind of hope for obvious reasons, the exterior clean and presentable. Upon entering inside, we were greeted by Ms Asma and introduced us to the facility. We immediately had a positive gut feeling and decided to schedule a day to drop our daughter off for a few hours to get her acclimated. There are two main rooms, one for toddlers (younger kids) and another for older kids (pre-school). We did this for about a week and decided to extend the stay out a few more hours 3 days a week. Ms Asma, Ms Tina and Ms Angel were awesome from the start, they were more than willing to work with our daughter who is very advanced for her age but has a lot of anxiety, particularly struggling with separation anxiety. They were patient with her and helped her transition smoothly to the day to day. Though she still has some anxiety during drop off, our daughter has fun all day and pick-up is night and day, almost no more tears! She eats better at school, plays nicely her friends (classmates) and comes home every day with a new word or phrase. We are eternally grateful for the teachers and staff at Little Stars and our own anxiety has also improved. Finding daycares is very stressful for both parents and kids, and it is a relief we found an awesome one!

Additional Notes: The school itself is located on PCH so it is a busy during rush hour. There are times that getting in and out of the school can be troublesome. However, the school itself feels secure and I didn't worry too much about her safety as there are a lot of gates. Since we have been there for a while, we have seen a few changes in staff and was questionable at times. However, the current director does her best to manage the changes and notifies the parents as soon as possible. The director and teachers are very caring and do their best to accommodate the changes as well. The school uses an app for communication about your child and it is very convenient as they update throughout the day such as meals and if they took a nap, etc. It made me feel less anxious. I do feel that they are aligning well with the academics while fully embracing the Montessori guidance. My daughter does well with independent play and loves to learn. Both teachers, Ms. Angie and Ms. Marizol, are truly wonderful with our son. They are encouraging, engaging, patient, and fun. We were told that it can take some children 1-3 months to stop crying after drop-off, but our son stopped crying after just the first week, which speaks volumes about the kindness and care they show him. What impressed us even more is how quickly we began to see growth. After just his first week, our son learned to sneeze into his arm, and we've noticed him forming his sentences more and more each day. The school provides weekly curriculum updates, which we love, and they also focus on a monthly book, reinforcing learning in a thoughtful, intentional way. It truly reflects an authentic Montessori learning style. The campus itself is adorable, spacious, and thoughtfully designed for children. The activities offered are precious and intentional, from the Thanksgiving kiddie potluck to Spirit Week and the Christmas recital. Another huge plus is that the school offers lunch and snacks for an additional $100 per month, which is very reasonable and takes a lot of daily stress off parents. The only con I would note is the number of days off throughout the year while still requiring full monthly tuition. This can be challenging, as it requires parents to take multiple days--and even weeks--off work. That said, it is the only downside we've experienced. We initially gave this school 5 stars, and while we still love and appreciate the teachers, it's important to note that a rating reflects the entire experience--including management. Since we don't deal with administration daily, it hasn't impacted us as much, but our confidence in upper management isn't what it once was. I was taking classes with this company (South Bay Driving School) for my 6 hour behind-the-wheel training before taking the DMV test for my drivers license. (To save you some reading, please request an instructor by the name of LUIS MENDEZ!! HE IS TRULY AN AMAZING TEACHER, AND IS RECOGNIZED BY THE SCHOOL AS THE BEST INSTRUCTOR THE SCHOOL HAS TO OFFER! And if an instructor named ELYAS is assigned to you, please request a different instructor!) The first instructor assigned to me was an okay teacher. However, the second instructor was terrible. His name was Elyas. First, he was half an hour late, about a fourth of the lesson! On top of that, he had a horrible attitude. He was very rude to me and inconsiderate at the fact that I was still learning how to drive. What he was giving was not constructive criticism. It was probably just him taking out anger or stress on me. Despite the fact that we had missed half of the lesson, he dared to instruct me to pull over by the nearest restaurant so he could use the bathroom. I waited in the car by myself for 10 minutes while he went into a nearby Taco Bell. I called the school after the lesson to complain about my unsatisfactory service. The manager would not refund me my lesson, despite the horrendous experience, but she did guarantee she would be willing to make up those 20 minutes of lost instruction time, and that she would send me the best instructor the school had for the remaining lesson, as there are 3 lessons total. The FINAL instructor assigned to me was a magnificent teacher by the name of LUIS MENDEZ. He was so welcoming and humble. He was patient with me and adequately answered every question I had. He had made up acronyms to help his students remember what to do during the test, and to ensure safe driving. Those acronyms were easy to remember and extremely helpful! He seems to have an extravagant amount of experience working with students! I was so surprised to see the contrast in the quality of my experience from my second lesson to the third one. I could not have had a better instructor to tie up loose ends and truly make me feel confident enough to take my test! I had a great experience with South bay driving school!! Teresa did an AMAZING job with me and no one could've done better!! She went above and beyond all I would've EVER dreamed a driving instructor to be. I imagined a strict person just training because they have to but Teresa was the best! She didn't just train you-she developed a relationship. While she in a professional way makes sure you're driving is perfected, she jokes around and makes you laugh! Believe me, nothing you do escapes her eyes! About the time you think she didn't catch you if you forgot to do something she'll turn and say, "Hey! What'd you forget?!!" She has a great way of teaching. She doesn't make you feel stupid for your mistakes . She looks at you with a grin(and twinkle in her eyes)and reminds you to do it next time!! One of my favorite things about her is her care and love for her students. One thing she always told me was, "I love my kids!" And as I got to know her, it was MORE than obvious that she does!! **Terrible Experience - Avoid South Bay Driving School at All Costs** I had an absolutely awful experience with South Bay Driving School and would not recommend it to anyone. The owner, Audrea, is extremely unprofessional and dishonest. I paid for driving lessons upfront, but after several attempts to schedule my lessons and getting nothing in return, I realized I was being scammed. I reached out multiple times asking for a refund, but Audrea refused to return my money, completely ignoring my requests. It was clear she had no intention of offering the services I paid for. I even tried to resolve the issue directly, but she continued to avoid me and refused to take any responsibility for the situation. After hours of frustration, I had no choice but to file a PayPal dispute to get my money back. Only then, after being forced into a dispute, did Audrea finally agree to refund my money, but only because PayPal intervened. This was a complete nightmare, and it's clear that Audrea is only out for money without delivering on her promises. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this driving school. There are plenty of reputable options out there that actually value their customers and provide the service they claim to offer. Avoid South Bay Driving School if you don't want to deal with scams and unprofessional behavior. read more

My daughter just passed her driving test today and only missed a few points. The examiner wrote GOOD JOB on her critique sheet. We chose Luis from the South Bay Driving School for the mandatory 6 hours behind the wheel instruction. After reading many good reviews online for Luis, we asked for him and were able to have all of the driving sessions with him. Luis is terrific! He is very thorough and personable and cares about the students.He gives 100% of his attention - not talking on a cell phone or acting bored. He even explained the process at the DMV - what time to arrive, where to check-in, what questions to expect, etc. My daughter was well prepared - in fact the examiner cut my daughter's answers off several times - saying, "that's fine" or "that's enough". Three years ago we used AAA driving school for my son. The instruction was fine, but they didn't provide any of the "DMV experience" preparation. It was also difficult to schedule the behind -the-wheel sessions because the instructor was so booked up. South Bay Driving School is great because the instructor drives to the student's home! Luis was always on time and it was so convenient - I didn't have to drive my daughter to AAA and sit and wait. I wish I had known about Luis and the South Bay Driving School three years ago when my son was learning to drive. read more

I highly recommend Theresa! Both my son and daughter went through South Bay driving school and between them they had three instructors and we were happy with all of them but Theresa was really the best. I usually don't write reviews but Theresa definitely deserves one. My daughter randomly got Theresa for her first lesson but she insisted on having Theresa for her other two. She was very genuine and personable....she shared her experience of losing her son to a car accident and that had a huge impact on my daughter. Also my daughter got a bit off track due to school commitments and I was concerned she wouldn't pass within the year given but after the second lesson Theresa got her motivated to practice more to schedule her final lesson and driving test. Thankfully during her third lesson, Theresa gave my daughter such a big confidence booster and even though she was nervous during her driving test, she was comfortable and confident and she passed on the first try. Also, I really appreciated all the extra notes/homework Theresa took the time to write on the handouts. Great service, Great staff, Great experience! I decided to take lessons with South Bay Driving School after hearing a lot of great things about the company. I was greeted by a very friendly lady at the front desk who helped me set up my driving lessons and answered all my questions in great detail. Soon after, I took my first lesson with Alfred and immediately felt more confident behind the wheel as he took his time to guide me through the various aspects of driving. I took two more lessons, with Luis and Teresa, and was impressed to find that all of the instructors were excellent teachers. They made sure I was a skilled and confident driver before I went to take my test. I ended up passing with only 1 minor mistake thanks to the knowledge I gained from my driving lessons. I recently finished my lessons with South Bay Driving School. I had a great experience, especially since my instructor, Alfred, was really great! Alred really helped me feel prepared for the drive test. His enthusiastic teaching approach helped me feel less anxious when driving, and it was effective in helping me develop the necessary skills to drive safely. Not only does he provide informative instruction and points out areas of improvement, but he also compliments what I'm doing correctly. Also, going through Alfred's mock tests showed which parts of my driving needed to be improved, and learning from these mistakes enabled me to easily pass my driving test on my first try. Alfred was open to any questions I had and helped me feel confident in both daily driving and driving for the test. My instructor, Rosie Salas, was excellent. She provided unconditional support. For example, on the eve of my behind-the-wheel exam, I got nervous when I made an improper unprotected turn. Rosie authentically read my nonverbal body language and reminded me of my amazing progress about my driving skills ever since I started with her. It made me feel better. Rosie also corrected me on the tiniest mistakes. For example, my wheel went over a solid white line when I made a right turn. Although the DMV does not consider that a critical driving error, Rosie told me to never go over solid white lines (with the goal of making as few scoring maneuvers as possible)! I am pleased to announce that I passed my behind-the-wheel exam, an impossible feat without Rosie's unparalleled support. Thank you so much Rosie for being an amazing instructor. I took the 6 hour driving training course (3 separate 2 hour sessions) with Bree as my instructor and she was wonderful! I was extremely nervous when I first started but Bree was reassuring, encouraging, and created a comfortable and safe environment for me to succeed. She explained what the actual driving test will be like and gave me many tips and things to keep in mind for the rest such as what will resulting in points off and automatic failures. Even though I only did 3 sessions with her I already feel much more comfortable and confident behind the wheel! Bree is a very fun, bright, and knowledgeable instructor and I had a great time learning with her. She also taught me how to pump gas which was a bonus lol! Thank you so much again Bree!! read more

I love Teresa! She is very funny and helped to make me feel a lot more comfortable with driving. She was very patient and gave me a good amount of really good tips and helped me by telling me specifically what to work on in between each lesson. Before taking a lesson with Teresa, driving was extremely scary to me and I dreaded driving. After my first lesson with Teresa, I was able to get over my fear and actually stay calm while driving. Teresa also keeps conversation during lessons and is very easy to talk to, and nicely reminds me of things I should keep in mind while driving, and corrects things I'm doing wrong. I've been trying to get my license for a while now and i finally did it thanks to the wonderful help of Teresa she helped learn how to drive unlike my first trainer who literally told me nothing on how to drive just kept on saying I'm doing it wrong with out giving me directions on how i was doing anything wrong while Teresa was awesome after only two lessons with her I'm a licensed driver and she was patient and kind and the best instructor i could have had because i was beginning to think no one could teach me how to drive but luckily i got Teresa and she helped me significantly thanks to her now i can be free on the road she was absoulutley fabulous. read more

Had Alfred as my driving instructor. He made sure to make every class a unique experience; changing routes/directions or introducing new locations. Alfred is a model instructor with a down to earth and hands-on approach to driving. He uses encouragement and repitition to build muscle memory. This is to iron out any specific mistakes the student may make on the driving test. He is very friendly and always willing to give a helping hand. I asked to practice more on certain maneuvers and Alfred was more than happy to oblige. Lastly Alfred has a great personality; glad to have met him. He made driving not only easy, but fun. read more

So lucky to find SB driving school. My instructor Teresa has helped me become much more of a confident driver- in a very short period of time!! She is very detail oriented, and always willing to explain and answer all my questions! She is also a fun person to be around and really cares about her students, making student safety her priority. Today I had my first stick shift lessons with Ali. He was knowledgeable, kind and addressed the issues I was facing in a parking lot before hitting the road. While on the road he gave constant instruction and constructive criticism on what I was doing wrong. I plan on getting a stick shift car soon. I think with one more lesson I should be ready. But the basics and more were taught to me in my 2 hour session. Most important he knows how nervous it can be not to stall and his calm manner really helped my frantic self when stalling at a light. My instructor was Luis. It was refreshing to meet a person who takes his job so seriously. He has a passion for teaching & tons of patience with his students. I agree with another student that Luis's teaching style is quirky but practical & effective. I am a senior with driving experience in another country. I had to unlearn some bad driving habits & Luis helped me tremendously to earn my driver's license. I believe that it is better to have the same driving instructor for all of your driving lessons since each instructor's method may vary. I recommend Luis! read more

I am grateful to my teachers, Alfred Campana and Gabriel Rivas. They helped me learn and be better with my driving skills and I passed the test and got my license because of their guidance. I got a little nervous throughout the drive lessons till the actual drive test but still ended with a passing score. I couldn't be happier. Both Alfred and Gabriel had their own teaching techniques but both were awesome teachers and I had a great time with them. My son's driving instructor is the best ever! Gabe was able to give guidance and instill confidence in my teenage son learning to drive at the South Bay Driving School. He taught him how to know and respect the rules and laws of driving. He even took my son for his DMV driving test and came in on his day off to do so!! He said it was an honor for him to be with my son for his DMV drivers test. All in all our experience with the South Bay Driving School and Gabe was 5 stars. I took a manual transmission (stick-shift) lesson here and it was a great experience. I'm a seasoned adult driver with no real stick-shift skills and after two hours I felt confident enough with what I learned to operate a manual car. The instructor was very professional and had a great teaching style. He was very patient and taught the fundamentals and helped to bolster my confidence to go from putting around an empty parking lot to 5th gear in full traffic within two hours. I recommend this school for all drivers who want to learn the right way. read more

I can't even explain what a great experience I've had with South Bay driving school! I learned so many different techniques. Rosie Salas is absolutely incredible! I began my lessons with two other instructors, but I wasn't able to reschedule with them due to busy schedules, so I booked a lesson with Rosie (best decision I've made haha). Rosie is so kind, and she truly helped me navigate the road. I ended up scheduling a lot of lessons with her to practice because she was so helpful. I passed my Behind The Wheel test at San Pedro DMV today! Very happy. read more
