I had a breaat augmentation with Dr. Liang at South Bay Plastics in Dec 2025 and I am so happy with my results as well as the care from everyone at this clinic. I had surgery with Dr. Liang last November for a non-cosmetic procedure. I have a company sponsored insurance plan so I wanted to make sure that this surgery is covered so I don't end up with high medical bills. I even coordinated with my insurance company to make sure they accepted my insurance before I was seen for a consultation. I spoke with Jennifer (Jenny) Berman who is the Director of Surgery Scheduling twice to verify that other costs associated with the surgery (i.e. hospital facilities and anesthesiologist etc) were covered. She assured me that there was no cost since everything is in-network and I've met my out of pocket max for the year. That made sense to me because i knew i had met my in-network out of pocket max for this year. My mistake was that i didn't get anything in writing. Now I'm stuck with thousands of dollars in bills because the hospital and anesthesiologist was not in-network. I wasn't even given an option to select or go anywhere else because I was told everything was covered during my consultation. When I emailed Jenny Berman after I received those bills for clarification on what happened, she ignored me until I sent a follow up email a week later. She responded to me by saying they are not responsible for hospital bills. I know that already. That wasn't what I was asking her. I regret trusting her when I scheduled my surgery. I'm surprised that they have someone so unprofessional and incompetent as their Director of Surgery Scheduling. This is why people are so frustrated with healthcare in this country. I had previously gone to different surgeon at an entirely different practice for a panniculectomy to remove loose skin after losing a great deal of weight and he did a terrible job. I looked like I was butchered, with my left half sunken in, right half swollen out, and a large meandering unsightly incision. This practice is very young (age wise) and their main clientele are young residents from rich neighborhoods. Got different advice here from Dr. Rendon than I did with the doctors in Beverly Hills and Orange County. If you're looking for an experienced seasoned doctor who appreciates individual beauty and natural results, this might not be where you would like to go. But if you want to look "snatched" then maybe it's a good place. Not everyone wants almond eyes or super perky breasts. I was upsold by $25,000. Place is nice and clean and they're board certified. I am so grateful for the caring staff and surgical team at South Bay Plastic Surgeons. In 2023, I was so excited to have a procedure I'd dreamed of having all of my adult life. Dr. Jewell, Allison, and the entire team were fantastic in the appointments leading up to the big day. The team at SBPS genuinely care about the overall health and safety of their patients. Each patient is required to go through a variety of pre-op appointments to ensure they will fare well through surgery and recovery. As part of my pre-op care, I had an EKG that revealed an abnormality with my heart function. An echocardiogram revealed that while I do not have any damaged heart tissue (thank goodness), my heart function has diminished. While it is unlikely I would experience a catastrophic heart event on the operating table, my cardiologist and I agreed that achieving optimal heart health should be my priority. The team at SBPS also agreed that my overall health should be the priority and provided a full refund. As much as I'd hoped to improve my body's outward appearance via surgery, they supported my need to shift to focus on my body's internal functions-- not to prepare for a possible future surgery but to be able to live a long and healthy life. I had cancer reconstructive surgery of my breast. Dr. Jewel performed the reconstruction. I am 9 days in and so far I can see her talent with promising results. I went in yesterday with excruciating pain from a drain that somehow moved to irritate a nerve. Dr. Jewel was not available but saw Dr. Burrel. She was confident, identified the problem and took action without hesitation to resolve the issue. I am a retired Police Officer and I know a BADASS when I see one. Dr. Burrel, you are one who can think on her toes and make split second decisions! That is something you can't learn in school, it's something you're born with. I haven't seen your work, but I would pick you to fix my liver in an emergency because I truly trust you'd figure it out. I had a wonderful experience at South Bay Plastic Surgeons after my breast cancer diagnosis & lumpectomy. Dr. Liang focused on my healing, & how to best incorporate my oncologic breast reconstruction & reduction in my overall plan of oncology care. He was very collaborative with the oncology surgeon involved in my lumpectomy, and had a great working relationship with her which gave me confidence that I would have an excellent surgical outcome. Dr. Liang's ability to explain my procedure, answer my questions, and provide written teaching protocols to assist me in self-care post was excellent. His attention to detail was also very reassuring as he measured & drew out his surgical plan for me in his office and again in pre-op just before I went in for my surgery. His meticulous measuring & planning were very reassuring, and I have had an excellent surgical outcome because of that attention to surgical detail. He also anticipated my post op needs by pre-ordering meds for pain management, nausea & the potential for constipation that often occurs post-operatively. For me, another important skill is Dr. Liang's ability to listen & get to know me as his patient. He met me in the exam room for the first time while I was fully dressed to talk to me about my priorities, & my concerns. I was lucky to find Dr. Liang when looking to do a little work on my neck. I am 52 years old and have been in the sun quite a bit and wasn't happy with the way my neck was sagging. Dr. Liang's first recommendation was to do nothing. He said I looked great! I pushed...and finally did the procedure. Dr. Liang personally called me to check on me for the first 3 months. I had been struggling with the way my nose looked almost all my life. I did not like the way my nose looked due to bump that I had. As an RN, I have known of Dr.Newman's reputation as a good surgeon (and a great bedside manner) for many years, and I recently became a patient. I have undergone a few plastic surgeries over the years, and I was very pleased to have a much better experience than with previous facilities. First and foremost, the recovery experience was unlike my other experiences. Instead of being left to recover on a hard gurney in a holding area, I was in a quiet room, positioned for comfort on an actual bed. I was give oral hydration, and allowed much time to slowly wake up on my schedule. I'm not exaggerating when describing with other out- patient surgeries, I was rushed to "wake up" and rushed to dress and rushed to the parking lot. Having this extra time in recovery made for the best post-op experience yet. No nausaea - thank you to Dr. Patel who gave me the best "cocktail" of meds. In fact, very little discomfort and no need for the prescriptive pain meds. I never felt rushed during the consultation, recovery, or check up process. Before a friend recommended him to me, I had had consultations with two other plastic surgeons. My experience with other surgeons was not nearly the same! There seemed to be an arrogance or ego with both other surgeons and Dr Newman is not that way at all! Instead of talking about how great he was, he focuses on his patient and making them feel comfortable and excited for their result. After our initial consultation, Dr Newman spoke with several surgeons about doing my hernia repair at the same time as my tummy tuck. He personally called me when he found the doctor that he felt had the best approach to fixing my hernia. After seeing this Dr (who I also loved!), his assistant Stephanie coordinated my surgery with the hernia surgeons schedule. Stephanie was easy to get a hold of, and called me back promptly when I called her. My surgery went extremely well! I am over the moon happy with my results. I am 35 years old and had 4 children in 3.5 years, including a set of twins. My stomach was so big when I was pregnant with the twins that it looked fake. I had so many stretch marks and tons of loose skin. I work out 5-7 days a week and maintain a healthy diet. My weight had returned to my prepregnancy weight but I always looked 3 months pregnant. I had corrected my diastis recti drastically through exercise, but still had a gap I couldn't close. When I wore jeans or yoga pants, my skin would hang over the top. Now my stomach is flatter than it has ever been! All of my loose skin is gone. I am 6 weeks post op and can't believe this is my new stomach! I mean, where do I begin. My experience was beyond amazing from the beginning to the end. Dr Liang made me feel very comfortable from the start. I didnt have many questions to ask him on my initial consultation visit because he explained everything in detail. I was referred to him by my Primary doctor. I went in for a breast reduction and let me say, not disappointed at all. I was in tears when I saw my final result. I am able to wear dresses that I thought I was never going to wear. Girls! His technique gives you a breast lift at the same time he reduces. The whole staff was great, I have to say thank you to Cherise, she went above and beyond, very very helpful. I can't begin to explain how extremely grateful I am to Dr. Burrell and the staff at South Bay Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Burrell did my breast reconstruction after having a preventative double mastectomy. I couldn't be happier with the results. Dr. Burrell is a master of her craft. As a breast cancer survivor, I have been on an emotional journey, which took me from being scared for my life and concerned about how I would look, to being cancer free and elated with the results! Dr. Jewell is an absolute gem and a top-notch surgeon who truly cares about her patients, the process and results. I am so very pleased with my surgery and the follow up care that I received. I had a bilateral mastectomy in 2002 and my implants needed replacement and reconstruction. Dr. Jewell is a perfectionist and an artist. My results are quite beautiful and I feel much more confident about how my breasts look. I knew I was in competent hands after our first consultation. She has a friendly, loyal and welcoming staff and a well-managed professional office. She is on time for all appointments which is a rarity in the medical field.
