I reminded DJ that I had been quoted $40 (the top of his range) on the phone. He wouldn't honor the price quoted. I told him I would take my business elsewhere and had it done at Les Schwab for $36. To clear up any misunderstanding I phoned back later and explained my reticence to pay 40% above his quoted price. DJ sarcastically apologized for "charging $5 over the quote". I reminded him that the quote was "$30 - $40". His response was "whatever!" and he reminded me that after he made the quote I had mentioned a higher bid I had gotten from a competitor. Then it clicked -- he had raised the price because he thought I was clueless and he could get it. It had nothing to do with their labor or costs but was purely opportunistic. A rip-off, in other words. Roseburg could use a good independent mechanic shop with high values. Unfortunately, HIS Automotive services is not that. Very disappointing. They know how to talk the talk, but they don't walk the walk.

Things were going smooth until we turned onto a freeway entrance and the axel of our car snapped and we were unable to move. First of all, the people of canyonville are amazing. Long story short, towing company recommended Bill's since they were the only ones near and open (it was around 6pm) We get to Bill's and they're so friendly. Quoted us an extremely affordable price and told us it'd be done by noon the next morning. Perfect! Doesn't stop there; since we are from out of town and have our cat with us, they personally drive us in one of their trucks to a near motel that accepts pets. We get in for the night, next morning we walk back to Bill's and the car is ready to go and it's 10am! All I can say is if I wanted my car to break down, this was the most ideal and smoothest situation ever and that is a huge thanks to Bill and his staff and also the people of canyonville. He has asked for them back with text and calls MANY times over the course of the last couple weeks, and they do not even answer calls or reply to texts with anything other than false promises that he will return the call later. At this point my father has been forced to spend thousands of dollars on new drive lines, and lost over a month of income from doing business as a contractor. I want to warn anyone considering us this company, please find someone ethical. If Mike calls my father and makes restitution (return the drive lines, and pay for some of his loss of time) I will update this review. This should be criminal, but unfortunately it seems it is a civil matter. We are very reasonable people and my father was personally and financially hurt by this company.
