I was visiting for the holidays and decided to get my brother's truck fixed for him--I couldn't stand seeing him afoot in the middle of winter. I selected D and D based on their Yelp reviews after being stood up by a mobile mechanic who was highly recommended via the "What's Going on in Cottage Grove, Oregon" Facebook group. Anyway, they got the truck fixed for a reasonable price and got my brother back into his vehicle. The price to replace the fuel pump nearly exceeded the Blue Book value of the 20+ year old truck, but my family and I are grateful to D and D Automotive for their expertise, friendliness, promptness. I paid $111 to have my Van checked out because I thought the transmission was going out. D&D told me that yes it was the transmission and they could put a new one in for $5,900. We went 2 months without our main vehicle while we saved money for a new transmission. I took it into AMCO in Eugene and find out it was only the alternator! A $200 fix I can do myself. D&D used to be a good place, now they overcharge for worse service. Oh also they only charged me $50 to diagnose my transmission 5 years ago. I realize we had inflation but they charge over 2 times that this time just to get it wrong. read more

Their staff is courteous & professional & they don't try to talk me into work that isn't necessary (a big factor when you're a single female mind you). Just had an oil change & not only was it completed in less than an hour including the complimentary car wash, the mechanic changed out my rear blinker & break lights that hadn't been working for months...get this... free of charge! I used to bring my vehicle for service for many years. I moved from Cottage Grove in 2013 and recently moved back. i had just purchased a used vehicle, everything had been done except I noticed after it needed new wiper blades. I researched carefully for the best blades for this vehicle. No one in Cottage Grove sold these blades so I purchased online. Because they were very expensive I wanted to have them put on by a garage. Of course I called D and D explained my long standing service, and was told that it was under new ownership. I made the appointment, the blades had a regular installation nothing special, 40.00 was the fee for at best a five minute service, Needless to say I will not be a long standing customer with D and D. Felt completely taken advantage of, which I was $40.00 absolutely ridiculous . I checked around other places that said it was outrageous. If you go there don't go as trusting as I was with what once a good name. Get your price. Learned the hard way on a very limited budget, Thank you D and D. read more

I had the unlucky misfortune of having my car die in the McDonald's parking lot in Cottage Grove midway though a move from Montana to California. I called AAA and was towed to this shop. Not only were the mechanic super nice, they also had my car fixed by the afternoon so I could continue on my journey! I definitely recommend this place! Just a note though, they only take cash (at least in my case) so prepare for that. That could have been a problem but fortunately US Bank was right down the street. read more

We are repeat customers of D&D. Larry is a great guy to talk to, and is very fair on his pricing. The work and care we have received are top-notch. My Pathfinder blew one of its 6 ignition coils a couple of days ago on I-5 causing it to run very rough. The guys at D&D got me in quickly despite a busy schedule and correctly diagnosed what exactly went bad as well as caught another coil that was ready to fail soon. Larry recommended I replace all 6 coils for best performance, but due to budget constraints I couldn't do it all right now. Larry then recommended the best course of action for me would be to just replace the 2 bad coils as well as the spark plugs, which I agreed to and also had them change my belts and do an oil change since my vehicle was due for those items anyway. Well, now I am back on the road and my old Pathfinder runs as good as ever. The service was courteous and prompt as always, and we came in under budget to boot! D&D is our first choice for auto repair. I didn't even think of going anywhere else. read more

My husband Brad and I have taken our Camry and Jeep to D&D Automotive for the last 3 years and they are the absolute best as far as we are concerned. Larry is easy to talk to and seems to be able to figure out what's wrong with very little info. They call and tell you what the problems are before working on them and they get the job done as fast as possible and get this, they even wash you vehicle and vacuum it out as well! I once broke down near their facility and Della was great to help me out by not only taking me home but stopping by the dog groomers to pick up my buddy from her grooming appointment and take her home too! I would give them 10 stars but there are only 5 to choose from here! Blessed to find a Mechanic/shop that I know will be fair and honest and do the right thing. Not only that, the work performed is done with honesty and integrity. Absolutely skilled professionals & certified. The hood of my car was stuck closed. A few people said it would need a new hood or a new cable or both. Finally one day my worst fear (one of them); I was running errands and I went to start old faithful, nothing happened. Called tow truck but had no idea where to take my car. Looked on my phone for the closest shop to where I was. D & D is conveniently located in the center of Cottage Grove. They could have made a lot of money off me (many others have). I had no idea what could be wrong. I need my car and would pay whatever for the repair, walking is not an option. I had a very old dead battery. It happens. They knew immediately how to open the hood. Came in, told me what was wrong, suggested what needed and told me how much it would cost. BOOM! They tricked me. I brought in my car for making some bad sounds, and they merely took off the heat shield of the exhaust pipe. A week later, my engine died. I don't think they did their due diligence to check for more serious issues and just charged me for the easiest "fix". I do not trust them with my vehicle anymore. read more

Unlike the other reviews, I would call my experience, unlucky in a different way. I took my truck in for a diagnostic, which took two days and 478$ it had a diagnostic alright, the wrong one. He (owner) held my truck hostage until I paid for the diagnostic service. and estimate. I ended up taking it to Kendall Ford, and was alot less money and was fixed correctly, the diagnostic took 1 hour... After asking some folks that have lived in Cottage Grove for quite some time, apparently the only business this place gets are unfortunate travelers off I-5. His buddy, the tow truck guy steers customers to this place, demands cash, (IRS?)( even though his website says credit cards and checks,) and overcharges big time...Stay away on this one or you will overpay and get ripped off, and may not get it fixed right...And by the way, I have no idea how this mades Angies list, I think another list, s^*t list would be in order.. read more
