The more time you spend here, whether as a student, a parent, or a professor, the more apparent the budget issues are. One way University of Dallas makes its money is by increasing the price of tuition every year. Academic awards for students do not increase, so you will be paying more each year. Many departments are underfunded, and the former president who focused heavily on increasing revenue was let go due to some back room scandals and drama that the administration will not disclose. There are a lot of instances in which I've felt like UD cares more about PR than it does about its own students. Most recently, when the new President was inaugurated, students were prohibited using from certain parking lots near academic buildings because they were reserved for "guests" at the inauguration, and apparently students are not guests at their own president's inauguration. I have a lot of things to say about campus life like most students. Mainly there is never enough parking to accommodate everyone and it cost $125/year when I was there just to park on campus. The parking fines are extremely petty and show the university's greed for money. The housing requirement for students is similar (unnecessary and only exists to bring in money). The food on campus is mediocre, and Aramark, the provider of food services, has a monopoly over the food available on campus. So having said all that, the education you get here is pretty solid, and professors are generally passionate about their fields while also challenging towards students' preconceived ideas. The core curriculum is focused on God, Nature, and Man, and all the academic subjects that encompass/combine these. I really liked a lot of my professors. UD students are known for their writing skills, and employers are aware of this.

Think of it as a school where all the big businesses in the area got together, told UNT what kind of things they'd love to see in graduating college kids, and then UNT made programs tailoring to that. Bam. You've got the Frisco campus. No, it's not just a business school, although a heavy focus of the curriculum is put on accounting, finance, things like writing press releases, fund raising, public relations, etc. All sorts of things are taught there that corporations have a huge desire to see more focus on. Another key thing about the Frisco location is that it is predominantly all night classes, so it's tailor made for those already in the work force, maybe those wanting to get a different degree or even further an existing degree. You can still come here and do some basics (I took chemistry and a psychology course here) but they are typically afternoon to evening courses. Lots of the commuter students at the main Denton campus like the Frisco campus because parking is free and PARKING IS FREE. Yeah. It's worth putting twice. Plus they are super freaking friendly here. They always great you with a smile when you walk in, they give you free swag all over the place and I swear...It's like they remember you paid them to go there or something. Amazing. They cater food in all the time for all students and you can rent a laptop, use a printer, get scantrons, all free. Instructors are fantastic. I hope they offer more daytime options for core classes. It's a great facility.

By the time you get any help, or any answers, most of the slots for the classes are TAKEN so you have to either enroll for some BS class, or take a class you didn't even want to, in that particular semester. It's almost like they put the online students on the back burner, and IT SUCKS!!!!!! Like they make it so inconvenient & it makes me soooo angry!!!! There's literally NO HELP!!! Idk about other departments, but the SOCIAL WORK DEPARTMENT/ADVISORS, omg, NO!!!!! It would be better if they had MORE THAN ONE freaking advisor per group of last names!!! One advisor per one group of last names is absurd. It slows things down, it makes people frustrated, and discouraged!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the best perks is that all of the food and snacks are complimentary, and there's a large variety of options throughout the property. The Bistro drinks were very authentically Starbucks quality. The matcha was even better than Starbucks. I also loved the snack rooms on every floor, each named after a city and stocked with a unique snack inspired by that location. Such a fun and thoughtful touch. The staff everywhere on campus were incredibly friendly and helpful. Albero, the new Italian restaurant, absolutely lived up to the hype. It's fine dining served family style, and everything we tried was excellent. The campus is also very convenient with shuttles between buildings and even golf carts that take you to the parking lot.
