The procedure is awful. First of all, there is absolutely no parking. There is an employee-only lot which is almost always full, even if you want to brave the "you will be towed" warnings. Street parking on Downing is rarely available and there is no parking on 16th Avenue. I often end up parking at the retail Post Office on Marion Street and then walk the two blocks to this location. In the past you then came to a locked door, rang a one-way intercom, gave your name (wondering if anyone had heard you), waited forever, and maybe then someone would appear with your package. Things are now much worse because the retail Post Office on Marion Street has been closed for months due to problems with that building. All of the people who have P.O. boxes at Marion Street must now come to this USPS Annex building to collect their mail. No retail services are offered here so the entire neighborhood has to go to the Post Offices at the Civic Center, downtown, or in North Cherry Creek for any other postal needs. The one concession made by the Postal Service is that regular window hours are now being kept. There is only one clerk on duty and there is always a line. Most of the P.O. box mail appears to have only been sorted into groups of boxes, so the clerk has to go through tray after tray looking for the mail for a specific box. This can take 10-15 minutes per person. If someone with a package delivery issue shows up, that can take 20-30 minutes or longer. There's a very small lobby in front of the service window that now has four broken-down chairs and room for three or four people to stand. I've waited as long as 40 minutes to pick up the mail from my box in this cramped area. The whole situation is absolutely miserable for both the people waiting and for the poor clerk. USPS management does not care. Do they even understand what a customer is?

In my experience, it's easier to pull into the parking lot by turning right from Broadway (before E Floyd Ave). It's a one way parking lot with stalls to the right. My first time driving there I was coming from a different direction. I went around the block and pulled in from the back alleyway. There are a few straight stalls immediately behind the building - their availability is hit and miss. If you park in the lot, keep your eyes out for people pulling sharply into the lot from Broadway! Walking in, there are some steps to navigate. Upon entering, either turn right to get in line, or turn left to get to the mail drop off and PO Boxes. It's a relatively small enclosure, but pretty efficient. There has always been at least one person in front of me when I stop in. Doesn't bug me - gives me time to look around at the wood detailing, the mural, and people watch. There is something about stopping at the USPS that you know it's going to take a while if you need to o redact with a teller. Post person? Cashier? Anyway, the nice thing is when you get to them, you've had plenty of time to fill out your certified mail slip, or check out the various stamps for sale, or even peruse the cards. They're always nice and very helpful. The first time I did an Amazon return (without having to go to the Amazon Store or find a box), I mistakenly thought I was supposed to go to USPS - it's the UPS Store I needed ‍. The guy who helped me was very understanding and told me where the nearest UPS Store was (only a few blocks away). Docked a star because the process once you're at the counter is always slow - why do they have so many buttons and things to enter? It's amazing! Also, the stairs at this location are slick when wet.
