Wow the front office staff is so rude. I tried to call to ask a question and she just hung up on me. Sad

In the…read moreseveral visits I had with him for my Fibromyalgia, he never ever once listened to my lungs or heart (& I have COPD). He sat in the opposite corner of the room, What? This was so uncomfortable! Well, the practice itself, Oak St. Medical, + all their affiliates, says it all. No, I'd run the other way as a new patient. I did!

Doctor Andrew Gilchrist has been my primary care provider for about a year now, and I have never…read morebeen more satisfied. Dr. Gilchrist has a profoundly sane approach to patient care including empathy, humor and access. I am able to reach my doctor any time, and receive a response almost immediately. He is available via text always and is also quite easy to schedule with. I have never (never!) had to wait to see him. Beyond being very knowledgeable, easy to talk with and amazingly kind, Dr. Gilchrist also provides a level of care that is incredible. He has dropped off prescriptions for me, been proactive with insurance issues and worked diligently to find me other providers, such as physical therapy, who are equally good. Concierge care may require new thinking at first. Paying a subscription rate on top of insurance can seem prohibitive, but when given the level of care and contact, it's actually quite a bargain. Dr. Gilchrist has seen me several times a month, as well as offered referrals, text consults and encouragement, all within my monthly cost. No copay, no additional fees, and of course all services that he refers too work with insurance as usual. It's an easy win- and genuinely adds to my health and well being to be part of his concierge practice. I would encourage anyone to get in and see Dr. Gilchrist! He's the absolute best!

Finding a PCP in Eugene has been a next to impossible task. I feel very fortunate that I was able…read moreto schedule an appointment with Dr. Sunkomat, and she was absolutely amazing. She listened, asked questions, and showed compassion and understanding. I had been on a waiting list forever. I finally got a call that a doctor was available (not Dr Sunkomat) but still had to wait three weeks for my appointment. The day before my appointment,"that" doctor canceled and this was after they had just confirmed the day before. I was furious, I had been waiting so long, and they had just confirmed my appointment the day before. As it turned out, Dr. Sunkomat was available so I was able to get in to see her. And as it turned out, it was a blessing in disguise! I am thrilled that I have a doctor that cares and is compassionate about her work!

I was given a temporary appointment with Dr Sunkomat to see once for a refill on my Hydrocodone which I have been taking for fifteen years at the same dose. I told her I would be interested in finding out how I could quit the hydrocodone. Dr Sunkomat not only did not refill my prescription but suggested I quit the hydrocodone cold turkey. She said "It won't kill you. You might have a few bad days". I could not believe what I was hearing. In her notes she also checked off many things she supposedly did, but didn't, like check my heart, lungs, eyes, ears, etc. As you can imagine, I never went back to her. Telling me to stop taking a drug abruptly that I have been on for fifteen years, without any preparation and without a thorough examination seems to me unprofessional, dangerous and apathetic.

She was kept overnight. The next morning Dr Whitsel walked in the room and her first words were "She has dementia!" I questioned how she could diagnose it so quickly and she responded that mom was given a story to read and then asked questions about it and that she had failed the test. I continued asking questions and she said that she had 8 new patients and she would have to look over her notes. I think she should have gone over the notes before she entered the room. She has HORRIBLE bedside manner and does not like to be questioned. I would suggest you request a different doctor if she is looking at your patient.

Decided the moment she saw me that she had issues with me, it was obvious. Popped into my room throughout my week long visit at McKenzie Willamette's Progressive Care Unit (which she is somehow the 'hospitalist' for) to make weird and taunting statements while displaying a poorly disguised grin. After a procedure to save my life, she (the last time I'll assign it any human/animal pronoun) was the first face I saw while coming out from under anesthesia, telling me it was discharging me immediately. My actual cardiologist had told me I would be kept for observation. When I argued with it, it told me it was her wing and it was not going to be argued with. I stayed the night but was rushed out next day even after staff had damaged my prosthetic in the process. Yeah, I'm also an amputee. I would recommend it be stripped of title and prosecuted. It is an absolute monster and it never should have been given license to practice. Still in process of taking legal action. The ER staff were amazing. The majority of nurses on it's wing became increasingly cold and passive aggressively punitive as the week went on, and I have no doubt it was at the urging of Whitsel. F@#k Whitsel.
