Completely unprofessional and highly recommend not going here unless they give you clarification on line by line approval or you will get yourself a surprise bill. In the end my insurance company had to use another line code to cover the made up code to get it covered for something this office makes up.

Despite that, they insisted on taking new X-rays. I later found out they were not covered by my insurance because they had been done too recently. To make matters worse, I was led to believe I was making a copay payment. It wasn't until I asked for a receipt that I discovered I had actually been charged for the X-rays. Had I known that was what I was paying for, I would have questioned it immediately. The office acknowledged that this was their mistake and assured me the charge would be refunded. Nearly two months later, I still have not received my refund. I've called about once a week to follow up, and every conversation has been disappointing. Diane either seems confused about why I'm calling or has the details of my case wrong. Most recently, she told me that my insurance company would be sending me a check instead of the office issuing a refund--which makes no sense since the charge resulted from the office's own error, not my insurance company's. It's incredibly frustrating to have an office admit they made a mistake but then delay resolving it for months while repeatedly acting as though they don't understand the situation. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office.

During the initial consultation, the doctor confirmed the necessity of all three root canals. I specifically brought to her attention that one tooth was symptomatic and requested that the treatment commence with that painful tooth. While the doctor acknowledged my request, she ultimately proceeded in an order of her own choosing. The work was completed in the following sequence: the two asymptomatic teeth were treated first. Following the completion of the first two procedures, it was determined that the funds allocated by my dental insurance for the calendar year had been fully exhausted. Given the pain I was experiencing from the remaining tooth, Dr. Chi proposed completing the third procedure, with the stipulation that I would cover the cost entirely out-of-pocket. We discussed the fact that the procedure would exceed the insurance coverage limit, but it was understood that the claim should still be formally submitted to the carrier. Submitting the claim would obligate the office to adhere to the contracted rates established with the insurance company for that specific service. Instead of following the contracted fee schedule, the office requested that I pay the full, unadjusted amount. While it is standard practice for many dental offices to collect the full fee upfront, they typically submit the claim, receive the Explanation of Benefits (EOB), and subsequently refund the patient any overpayment based on the negotiated rates. This standard procedure was not followed by Dr. Chia Chen Susan Chi's office. The office failed to submit any claims to the insurance provider, leaving the insurance company entirely unaware that any services had been rendered. Upon investigating the matter, we discovered two primary issues: 1. **Overpayment on Initial Procedures:** For the first two procedures, we were charged fees that exceeded the contracted rates, resulting in an unauthorized overpayment for both teeth. 2. **Unilateral Pricing on Final Procedure:** For the third tooth, due to the complete lack of claim submission, we paid the full amount demanded by the doctor, which bore no correlation to the established fees outlined in her contract with the insurance company. When my insurance company attempted to contact the doctor's office to obtain the requisite billing information, they were unsuccessful. It became clear that the doctor had unilaterally decided to set arbitrary, non-contracted prices for her services. All attempts to resolve this discrepancy with the doctor's office were futile. The office insisted their prices were correct and claimed to have a "special contract" with the insurance carrier that permitted them to establish their own service fees. However, the insurance company explicitly **denied** having any special contracts with Dr. Chi that would grant her the authority to unilaterally determine pricing. I am documenting this extensive account to serve as a warning to potential future patients of this doctor. This is the first time in my history with medical professionals that I have encountered a situation involving such deliberate deception regarding billing practices. Consequently, we ended up paying nearly **double the appropriate price** for her services.

Also that with every procedure, there could be unexpected changes once they get in there. After a brief consultation they did some panoramic X-rays and I got on the schedule for the next week. Fast forward a week and I showed up for my appointment. We got started after Dr. Vogel explained what he was going to do and me telling him my concerns from the previous root canal. Unfortunately things did not go as planned since my tooth had some infection in the root. Dr. Vogel explained that we would not be able to finish up and he was going to clean out as much infection as he could and get me a temporary filling so we could go over my next step options. After everything, he took the time to call my dentist and speak with them about what I needed next. He sent them the X-rays he took and waited with me while we discussed the plan. He told me that he was not going to charge me for the root canal since he wasn't able to do it and instead charged me for an incomplete. I appreciate that and it ended up saving me a lot of money in the end... especially since I will now be visiting an oral surgeon. While I hope I never have to have another root canal, I would definitely come back to Dr. Vogel and highly recommend him for any endodontic needs.

The gal who answered acted like she was far too bothered and busy to help me, and it was like a gatekeeping process just to get an apt. They wouldn't even see me for a CONSULT for two and a half weeks, and then she said, "Listen, you might not even want to be seen by us because we... well, what sort of pain management do you want because I'll tell you right now we don't even offer nitrous oxide, or any sort of sedation treatments or anything like that". This was before she even asked if I had insurance or anything, so it wasn't like she was screening me because she thought I couldn't pay (which would not have been good either, but I could have at least understood a motive). Dr. Sameti is not only a great Endodontics, but also a very decent and pleasant person that you want to be his friend not only your Endodontics specialist. He is very knowledgeable, humble, and put the time and effort to make you feel at most comfort with the most accurate diagnosis and treatment. I can honestly say that I am completely satisfied with the work he performs and his professionalism is fantastic. i did not experience any pain or discomfort during the procedures. I went to see Dr. Sameti when I was in a lot of pain. Dr. Sameti and his assistant Nelly performed a complicated root canal treatment which lasted nearly three hours. They both took the time to walk me through the procedure and kept me updated throughout. Everything went well and the pain was beginning to subside before the end of the procedure. I was referred to Dr Devoll from another dentist when she told me I would need surgery to correct my periodontitis. Terrified, I went. Dr Devoll is fantastic and explained everything in a very gentle and informative manner. After being anxious about it for a long time I finally went in for my surgery (gingivectomy + all 4 wisdom teeth extraction + bone graft) this past Friday and received IV Sedation. The process was over before I knew it (I don't remember anything at all after the medicine went in) and the recovery process has been nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. They gave me plenty of time, information, and reassurance beforehand. Good meds for recovery. I never felt rushed or pressured at all during the whole process. Dr Devoll and his staff are true professionals, the best I've ever seen in the field of dentistry. They are caring and I feel way less scared about dental work as a result. Dr Devoll is someone you can trust. I will be going here as long as he is practicing. Can't recommend high enough.

The gal who answered acted like she was far too bothered and busy to help me, and it was like a gatekeeping process just to get an apt. They wouldn't even see me for a CONSULT for two and a half weeks, and then she said, "Listen, you might not even want to be seen by us because we... well, what sort of pain management do you want because I'll tell you right now we don't even offer nitrous oxide, or any sort of sedation treatments or anything like that". This was before she even asked if I had insurance or anything, so it wasn't like she was screening me because she thought I couldn't pay (which would not have been good either, but I could have at least understood a motive). It was like she just didn't want patients! Again, this is not a reflection of the doctors, they might be great, IF you can get to see them.

After getting me to pay for something initially that my insurance didn't cover they did the procedure and low and behold there was something else that wasn't approved and I am supposed to come out of pocket for after the prior authorization went through stating they were covering everything but the thing I already paid for. Completely unprofessional and highly recommend not going here unless they give you clarification on line by line approval or you will get yourself a surprise bill. In the end my insurance company had to use another line code to cover the made up code to get it covered for something this office makes up.
