Like another reviewer here, I hope that the fact that I live a mere two blocks away does not make me biased. But having had experience with other mechanics in town, I can vouch for Angelo and his brother! I had an issue recently where my car had to be towed from my driveway to their shop. However, it was stuck in gear and the tow-truck couldn't safely move it until it was put in neutral. Angelo sent his brother to my house and he worked on it for about 45 minutes and managed to release the shift lock. They worked on my car quickly and charged me a very fair price. It was actually several hundred dollars less than the estimate given to me from another place in town! Brought my car in for a quick state inspection based on the top reviews on here. I called the morning of, asked if they had an available appointment/time to see my car. As my car was less than 2 years old at the time, and the inspection would only be minutes, they said they could see it day of but told me to arrive before 4pm. Thinking they would prefer if I brought it a little early, I arrived at 3:30. The shop is small and there is an awning that reads 'Office'. When I went in, it was actually the back of the garage. Two men working looked at me, grumbled, turned their heads away, and then re-acknowledged me about 20 seconds later, still with grumbles. Finally the owner (I think) Angelo greeted me politely and told me it would be a short wait. There was a lot of confusion somehow between the 3-4 other workers besides Angelo, they didn't seem to know where they should be, where I should be, where my car was, etc. Once confusion subsided and I stood awkwardly around, Angelo finally was able to get to my inspection and the entire process took 10 minutes or less. My take-away was that this place is disorganized and a little awkward, but essentially run by good-hearted people. I was torn between 2 or 3 stars due to the disorganization, but went with 3 because of Angelo's service and politeness, despite the grumpiness of another employee. Perhaps I caught them on an off day, but I'm not sure I will go out of my way to bring my car here again. read more

Very pleased. Am originally from the West Coast and had a car back here that needed to be serviced while I was in town. Unscheduled and without an notice, I brought it in. Even on a busy day, but knowing my circumstances, they got it up on the lift quickly, swapped out the break pads, did a quick diagnostic and got me back on the road. I have to admit, I'm biased because I live a block away and living a block away from a good garage makes car work and oil changes way easier. Angelo is great, will explain everything and explain it two more times if you don't understand the first time. Prices are reasonable and they do state inspection. They are *much* better than the shop they replaced, so don't judge them if you'd been to Corbett's before. They have certifications for all major hybrid vehicles, which is worth noting. read more

I met Angelo and his brother (forgot his name) shortly after getting an apartment nearby. They definitely know their stuff, and now that I've had them work on a number of projects for me (replace thermostat on my GMC, put new brakes on the minivan) I feel I can really trust them. Estimates are honest, work is done well, and they go the extra mile to listen to what you describe you want done and test it afterward to make sure it is done right. I'm a big fan of having automotive work done by small shop, local mechanics instead of chain stores that primarily sell tires or mufflers. You get work done by someone who wants to keep you as a happy customer instead of just churn you out so he can get another paying customer in his repair bays. My inspection was expiring same day and I stopped into the shop when it opened to see if they had any availability to perform the inspection. Angelo told me it would take about two hours by the time they could get to it and I could leave it with them. Not only did he call me in less than an hour and a half, but when I went to pick the car up he was great. He let me know that my front driver's side tire was low and I'd need to replace it sooner than later (he was right, it cracked and I got a flat less than four weeks later!) and joked with me a little bit before I was on my way. That they fit me in last minute was already beyond my expectations, but what a bunch of nice guys there. I will visit Angelo and his guys for all of my future work. read more

I was traveling from RI to Pa with my 13 year old daughter (I live in Pa) My ford excursion broke down on route 287 I limped it across the Tapenzee bridge and off the first exit I came to. After searching the internet and seeing some reviews I was torn between Nyack auto repair and South Nyack auto repair it was 1:oo in the morning and I was very uncomfortable just leaving my vehicle I NY (my wife made the 2.5 hour trip to get us) but I took a chance and teft my vehicle off at South Nyack auto repair my decision was made solely on the fact that they had parking. It was about 4:00 am and they were not open I just took a chance the reviews looked good online. They opened at 8:00 am and at 8:19am beforw I even had the chance to call them I received a call from Angelo asking what my vehicles issue was I explained what I thought happend and he said he qould check it out and get back to me and a short time later he did and with an estimate. I agreed to the work and only a few hours later I received another call from Angelo stating my vehicle was ready to go and it came in within the given estimate I was able to pay over the phone and I picked my vehicle up after hours. I wish the timing would have allowed for me to meet Angelo in person and shake his hand. South Nyack repaired my vehicle in the same day with no appointment knowing I was from out of town and they would unlikely see me again they charged a fair price and they were very honest and professional I do most of my own repairs and I knew what was broken they were honest and fair I recommend them to anyone I am very thankful to have happened into there shop my brake down could have been a very very bad experience and Angelo at South Nyack made it very reasonable Thank You Angelo Sincerely Chris King read more
