This shop is a good place it really is and the reason I'm lowering my rating just a tad is that Mike's place is so popular and busy that I think they do more than they probably should on any given day and I haven't been back and don't plan on going back. I'm not shitting on the place at all just saying it's not for me. You'd think this place was featured on a Netflix special with how insanely busy it gets. I've had a few wonderful experiences with this shop for repairs but the last repair I had for my muffler heat shield falling off didn't go exactly as expected. Needless to say the heat shield came loose within two weeks after Mike's shop "repaired" it so I took it to another mechanic that not only repaired the loose heat shield, the person did the repair in less than 15 mins while I waited and only charged me $30! Let's just say that was more than half the original price I paid this shop to fix it. Not gonna lie, I didn't realize (1) the job was that easy and (2) that I'd get charge so much less elsewhere AND have my car back on the road in what felt like 5 mins but was really more like 15 mins. My heat shield repair left me feeling like the job was rushed. I most certainly could have gone back to ask for the job to be corrected but I didn't and that's on ME. I just think this shop gets so busy they literally put a band-aid on my vehicle and took my money. I'm not mad (really I'm not), I just think this shop needs either more hands on deck or manage appointments better so that jobs aren't rushed and quality of work suffers. Any previous work I've had done at this shop was done wonderfully, no complaints at all. With appointments you get same day service which is really great. Just be warned this place gets insanely busy no exaggeration you'd think it was showcased on TV or something and everyone wants Mike to fix their cars. Mike and his team were a true Godsend and helped me and my girlfriend when our car unexpectedly lost all electrics and could no longer be driven as we headed from NYC to the Catskills on a beautiful weekend day. We were very fortunate to be near Goshen and had managed to restart our car after breaking down, but only to roll the car with the power remaining. A quick check on our Yelp mobile app as we frantically rolled through downtown Goshen showed Mike's Auto Care with top ratings - we thought, we have no other choice, let's get it there and make the best of the situation. We were so fortunate that Mike's garage was still open around 6.30pm on Saturday. Mike and his manager stayed after-hours to quickly diagnose a faulty alternator as the problem. As my car was older and parts were harder to find, time would be needed to order and expedite delivery, then work could begin. He brought my car into the garage and assured that it would be looked at first-thing by their reopening on Monday. The whole while the garage staff were super friendly and accommodating given the circumstances; we were very fortunate that they took time to help us in need. Now, leaving our car at the garage and heading to a nearby hotel, I was concerned that Mike's team could charge us to their heart's desire for parts and labor. I got the cost estimate on Monday morning - a bit higher due to expedited, same-day delivery, but understandable and reasonable. They were very fair and transparent about the cost breakdown. As Mike promised, they would replace the parts and ensure we could get back on the road ASAP on Monday - and he made sure that happened. I'm very thankful to Mike and his team. They were very honest and trustworthy mechanics. I'm a former General Motors employee from an auto family (uncle formerly owned an auto repair garage for years). I greatly appreciated their professionalism and true care for our car (also checking over all other vehicle diagnostics, tire pressure, and even a test drive) - and truly excellent customer service. Mike was very upfront and extremely accommodating to our needs. We had to get our front brake pads and rotors replaced after hearing them start to grind.
