Except for the doctor and two nurses I dealt with the people they are not friendly at all and take their time to deal with you.

I was referred by a co worker so I called to make an appointment and waited three weeks until their next availability for my five year old daughter for chronic migraines from an accident at school. I arrive, they couldn't find my appointment asked if I made it today and I told them no it was made weeks ago. Then I'm told that her insurance information was never inputted after I provided it the day I made the appointment. I pull my daughter out of school early I leave my job early to be turned away and told the Dr doesn't take her insurance. Why wasn't this told the day I made the appointment!?! They even called to confirm me the day before and I was sent packing. I wasted hours of my job, my time and my gas as I came from Riverhead ontop of pulling my daughter out of school. No one would see my daughter and I was told unless I wanted to pay for the appointment - NO you should have paid for the appointment for your mess up. I will NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE !!!!!!!! HORRIBLE YOU CAN DO THIS TO A FIVE YEAR OLD !!!!! I won't be back. Stay far away !! read more

Not happy with them. They all talk nasty or hang up on me. Every month I get four-five days later my narcotic medication . I live in pain one week every month just because they don't take it serious. I got %50 nerve damage and had three serguries on my back and one on my neck. I have a lot of pain and that's why I can't have gap between my medicine . I don't know who Jennifer Vasquez is but she's denied my prescription that is approved by my insurance & Dr. Vallencourt. I went directly to my pharmacy to check. I have been a patient for over five years with monthly visits for treatments. The medical staff is good. Waiting for a doctor or NP to see you is long (overbooking; schedule an early appointment to get to see the staff closer to your scheduled time). Based on that, I would give them three stars. Now that NY Langone has taken over the office is all messed up. I tried calling to speak with the medical staff and I do not get call backs. I tried calling each week for 5 weeks, not one call returned by anyone. I called into the front desk, talked to the Physician's line staff and was transferred to the same recorded line to leave a message. No answer to that message either. North Shore Neurologic Associates closed down their infusion suite and transferred it over the NYL. I received a notice about NYL taking over the operations. No mention of closing the suite or other arrangements. My next appointment was coming up for the suite. Called and left messages asking if things changed. Never received a reply. Went for my infusion, surprise, it was closed down and transferred to Community Hospital. Not cool. I was hospitalized for a few days. Called to speak to the Doctor or NP. Had to leave a message. No response to two requests for return calls. I can see a missed return call or two, but this is a pattern. As I understand it there has been a staff turnover. Maybe you want to wait until the new staff irons out the problems. I cant trust the facilities in Patchogue being there and doing the right thing to support me. read more

My mom sees Dr. Mark Gudesblatt just about yearly and Barbara Bumstead, NP every few months. They both are top-notch in their field. The front office staff is efficient and friendly too. If you are seeing Dr. Gudesblatt you might have a long wait before being seen (we've waited close to 2 hours before being called in), but the wait is well worth it because he is thorough and he gives every patient his undivided attention -- this explains the wait because he's treating the patients before you with the same care he will give you. He doesn't rush you out the door to get to the next patient, he listens to your questions and concerns and takes the time to answer any questions you may have. I cannot say enough nice things about Barbara Bumstead, NP, she is the most efficient and helpful healthcare provider I have ever come across in my entire life. read more

I saw Laura Buck, a nurse practitioner at South Shore Neurologic Associates yesterday. She was attentive and listened to my concerns with regard to managing chronic pain. I did not feel rushed and I received valuable information that I have not been given since this injury over 5 years ago! I highly recommend going to Laura! She had my well being and health as her main focus throughout the visit! She listens to what you are saying and gives valuable advice. She thinks outside the box which is a valuable skill to have when you are dealing with chronic pain. read more

Words cannot describe how thankful I am that my family had chosen this office. My mother had made an appointment for back pain, being a cancer survivor and living with MS she is normally not one to complain but this back pain and her losing the ability to walk caused concern for us. Myassar Zarif, M.D. and his dedicated team found something and under his orders we immediately got the information from his office and had it taken care of. I will never come back to this place due to the ignorance of the workers at the front desk. The doctor was running an hour and a half late apparently and not a word was said about that to me after sitting there For 45 minute. The workers at the front were a young man and a young woman, the young woman was "doing her job" I suppose but i could not tell you what the man was doing, he sat there staring into space. Peoples days don't revolve around the doctor, If have to go to work I wouldn't want to be late because of this. Ruined my day. read more

While Doctor Gudesblatt, their nursing dept & Barbara Bumsted (NP) are wonderful, the office is horrendous. You call to speak with a Medical Assistant & someone picks you up & throws you right on hold without even saying anything. That is where you are left to die. No one EVER picks up the phone & I have held, more than once, for close to an hour. I often end up calling back & press the option as if I was a doctor calling so they pick up. If it wasn't for the fact that the medical care was great I WOULD NOT stay here. read more

Since they were bought by NYU Langone they are completely and totally disrespectful and don't care about the patients. I called and made an appointment before they were merged with NYU and they took my insurance. They merged and they changed hours so they called me to reschedule my appt. They fit me in the next day but they double booked me with someone else so it totally messed me up and they weren't able to see me and had to reschedule me again. They did not tell me at that point that they no longer took my insurance since the merge. I come back Saturday when they rescheduled me for and I'm informed I owe $289.00 and I said absolutely not I have insurance the most I'll pay is $70.00 and they informed me that since the merge they no longer take me insurance. Now I am 3 hours out of work without being paid and gas to and from riverhead. So I will be sending them a bill. Yah don't mess with a bookkeeper. read more

I have been going to South Shore Neurology since 11/2011 To see my great neurologist Dr Myassar Zarif. Dr Zarif just completed a spinal tap on me 9/12/21. He was very gentle and gave me shot of numbing medication to make sure I did experience pain. It did hurt a little but didn't bleed and I followed follow-up instruction to lay down on way home my mom drove me and I had to sit with the seat all the way reclined. When I got home I had to lay down on my back for 2-3 hours and not lift anything or bend over for the rest of the day. The next day I could resume regular activities. I'm being tested for PML as per my last MRI results done on 9/6/21 which showed a large legion on my frontal lobe that signaled PML. If it come back positive we will use steroid treatments IV than repeat the MRI and repeat this progress to try to avoid demyelinating progression of PML. I also was getting my infusions of Tysabri at South Shore Neurologic in Patchogue since 11/2011. I had had a really bad MS relapse in 11/20011. I had a neurologist who was not an MS specialist at the time who had been treating me for chronic migraines. And other symptoms related to MS. My MRI's ordered by this other doctor had said I had lesions on my brain and to follow up for demyelinating disease. This doctor never sent me for follow-up. No spinal tap. He said I had to symptoms that were of something with MS. He was my Neurologist for 15 years! I went to Dr Zarif through a referral from my sister. She was seeing him for similar symptoms as me. I started seeing Dr.Zarif regularly after my severe relapse in 11/2011 when I was still under the care of the other neurologist. After my relapse. I needed to re-learn how to walk again! I had numbness in my hands and legs and had severe muscle spasms interfering with my ability to eat or hold a glass or utensils without dripping them! I had trouble sleeping trashing in bed and splitting open my knuckles on the headboard of my bed! I had physical therapy and Dr Zarif put me on Tysabri! It was a miracle drug for me! It helped control my symptoms and within a year I was walking without adaptive equipment. Dr Zarif helped me get my life back! I did try to go back to work in 1/2012 but had a second relapse! My job was 24/7 and I had a pager and worked 60 hours a week! I went back with a quad cane! It was rough! But Dr Zarif told me you need to stop doing what your doing if you want the relapses to stop! He said I need to go out on disability. That if I continued this way I'd wind up in a wheelchair for life. Or have a more severe health issue like a stroke. But was diagnosed with RA doctor during since that date. I had a wonderful MS nurse Named Serina LaBarbera who was wonderful. I didn't alway get this nurse for my infusion but she was excellent and knowledgeable and alway found my vein for the infusion right away so I didn't need to be stuck numerous times. I have a great RN for my pain management that I see called Dan Ippolito N.P. Who is also wonderful! He is very professional and helpful with suggesting ways to control pain naturally and suppling exercise techniques to use at home with instructions in detail stop by step. read more

I must say that when we first found SSN I was very pleased. My son was going there for checkups (ADHD) and service in person and via phone for refills, etc. was quick, easy and friendly. Since then, his doctor has left, and they haven't reassigned the patients to a new (or different) doctor yet. Now when I need a refill, etc. I end up having to call multiple times and get the run-around from first the front desk and then the assistant taking the refill requests. Not only that, but most recently i spoke with them 2 days in a row (TH & F) letting them know my son was going to be out of state and needed the script prior to him leaving, which they said "ok no problem" then proceeded to not send the script in until Monday after my son was already gone. So now due to their lack of patient care my son will be without his medication (which he takes daily) for several days. I would highly recommed you shop around before deciding to use this facility, especially in their current state of unorganized nonsense. read more

Don't ever go to SOUTH SHORE NEUROLOGIC ASSOCIATES P.C. All they care about is money. There billing department doesn't know there elbow from there ass. They have billed me for procedures that should have been covered by my insurance, which they NEVER advised me that would be extra and not covered by my insurance. To top it off, when I called them, they told "YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT YOUR INSURANCE COVERS." Regardless to say that I had to pay the fees. I didn't even get a sorry from them. Now, I arrive for appointment for them to tell me that they DON'T accept my new insurance. I called ahead before I switched my insurance to make sure ALL my doctors accepted my new insurance. Again, the billing department told me that they ACCEPT my new insurance. However, when I arrived they said that they DON'T accept it. SOUTH SHORE NEUROLOGIC ASSOCIATES P.C. I was going to be a returning patient and waited months to see a neurologist for debilitating migraines only to be told my appt was cancelled and my bad for not letting me know. Then proceeded to make me a new appt.no thank you!!!!! I will be seeing another practice for my migraines and will never go back. Very disrespectful on the telephone when I called back to speak to an office a manager. It didn't phase them in the least to lose a patient. The staff is horrific and should be fired for the way this was handled. Sorry that I was bothering them. I now have a migraine from being so upset over this. Dr. Firouztalé is a brilliant Phycisan. He is caring and an absolute professional. When I had an emergency situation it seemed that he aligned the stars to get all my coordinated care immediately scheduled. The staff is fantastic. Pat McDonald and Laura Buck are terrific as are coordinator Jennifer and Colleen in records who is an angel. The offices are very busy but I am always greeted with a smile. The wait times can be long when calling but I certainly understand and am ok with the wait as the care is exceptional. read more

I'm going to make it simple. When I called to make an appointment for an EMG, I spoke with two different women who I would like to say were "coldly efficient". This efficiency included having to call my doctor to see why I was being referred despite having a prescription that said exactly why. So there is no wonder why they never called me back-- I"m guessing my doctor felt the same way I do-- why call when the information has already been provided? It seems it would have been professional for the office to call me back to let me know what happened. It must be nice not to need people's business. read more

Besides my Issues with Dr. Raza (Which I left on their Islip office Yelp page), I had to come here for a lumbar puncture. They refused to take blame, but long story short, I had spinal fluid mixing into my blood and making me sick. I was told to go back their on short notice for a "blood patch" and I informed them that the person dropping me off could not come back to the office for about an hour after the procedure over the phone. Low and behold they reneged on their word, the nurse was great (only reason I gave them 2 stars) and talked things out between the angry doctor and my friend, who wound up missing her appointment because of all of this anyway. South Shore Neurological is so compartmentalized that their records, their staff and their doctors never know what's going on. Don't bother calling, you'll just get the run-around. If you have any questions or anything, I suggest you head to the office and find out whoever is in charge of the front desk and bring it to their attention. Otherwise, nothing gets done. South Shore Neurologic seems to be waiting for a malpractice suit. read more

My spouse had a not so pleasant experience with the doctor there. Dr Xian was very quick to "diagnose" without hearing situation or allowing us to ask questions. He eventually ran tests and then changed his diagnosis twice after we went to the hospital for further testing. It's a shame because the field of neurology is so important to people w neurological disorders. Dr Gudesblatt is very competent however. A family member sees him for his MS and is great. read more

Don't bother going here, you will never be able to get in touch with your provider afterwards. They are the worst with their phones. 1) You're on hold for twenty minutes only to be hung up on 2) They leave the phones on service after lunch and don't put them back 3)They forget they have you on hold and even if you leave a message for the doctor's coordinator they never call you back. I have been trying to get in contact with my father's Neurologist Dr. Pflaster for two weeks now and all they can do is put me on hold and hang up on me. Mind you when you go there in person so much staff at front and everyone is on their phones., but such horrible phone service! Like seriously, a joke! read more

I have been going to south shore Neurologic Associates for several years. The doctors and PA's are all very good. The problem in this location is the office staff, they have no compassion and mostly don't know what they are doing. I was running late for my appointment recently and they told me to still come in. I was about 20min late and was told that I would not be seen because I was late. There were 0 people in the waiting room. I was the only person there and was refused treatment and rescheduled for the following week. They didn't want to hear anything about my discomfort or reason for making the appointment. It's really sad because I don't think the doctors would be ok with what happened, they probably don't even know. read more

Poor response. Bad service. Filled out forms wrong, said I had a stroke when I DID NOT! Made me wait almost 2 hours one time. I left and no one called me to reschedule. They had to credit my copay. Requested records and I'm still waiting after 40 days! Dr G stopped seeing me without consulting me and gave me to a new younger doctor. I talked to him regarding nutrition and he told me it was all BS and I know it's not! I always saw a doctor in Islip and the last appt I went to Islip and the doctor was in Patchogue. I've had other neurologists that I wasn't happy with but this is the first time I have ever written a review since there were so many things that were negative.... read more

I have been coming here for about 5-6 months now and in the years I've been suffering with back and tailbone pain and injuries, I have yet to receive the attentiveness and help as I have from the doctors here. Between Dr. Laura Buck checking in with me every month, to Dr. Argyrio giving me the epidurals and the women at the desk both in the upstairs offices, I couldn't be happier. I'm finally getting the help and relief I've been looking for for years and instead of tossing me prescriptions for narcotics, they're actually helping me. So thankful for this practice! read more

Dr. Rahman changed my life! Dr. Rahman and his staff are miracle workers in my book...I don't say that lightly. I had been in excruciating pain for the last 4 years of my life because of 3 back surgeries including a spinal fusion and battling CRPS-Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in my left leg since 2013. I was very skeptical because over the years I have seen many Doctors and tried different methods of pain relief. I had resigned and eventually accepted living this half of my life in pain. Until Dr. Rahman and staff performed first 2 trials of radio frequency ablation on my lower back area which in turn helped a little at that point. I was still skeptical it would work. Once Dr. Rahman and his staff performed the radio frequency ablation in only 2 visits I was 85% out of constant all-consuming pain. I still have some flare ups in the leg and some mild/moderate burning in the leg, but compared to the excruciating pain I was in-this is a cake walk. Also-I have been informed that this can lasts up to 12 months-so it's not permanent, but I can have it done again. I'm not worried being in their care. I also have cut out 95% of my medications. I feel like a new person. With the help of EXTREMELY professional and knowledgeable Physical Therapists and staff...mainly Nick Froiseth-(Another miracle worker!) and Hunter Greco are extremely gifted. I believe that they genuinely care and their main goal is to RELIEVE your pain and RETRAIN your body on how it should be-especially BEFORE and after Dr. Rahman and staff took away 85-90 % of my pain! I also have to give a shout out to Manny who works along side Dr. Rahman. I never had any issues with scheduling, front desk. It may take some time to get in initially, but once you are in the staff know what they are doing and it all ran quite smoothly. If I could give 10 's-I would. Even though I only met with Dr. Norman Pflaster once initially-he was very professional and seemed to know which direction to point me in with Dr. Rahman and staff and Nick Froiseth and his assistant Hunter Greco. So let me start by saying I am scheduling a new appointment with a different doctor and I will update this review if it's better, but I had an awful experience here this time last year. I was going in for numbness throughout my body and told them that I knew it was due to something going on in my lower back. He asked me if I ever got headaches and I said "yes, occasionally but not often" and he just totally went off the deep end with that, and literally labeled all my charts with frequent headaches?? And every time I came in I'd tell him that it wasn't why I was here and I didn't get them often and he never listened to me. He ended up insisting to do an mri of upper back/spine even after I told him over and over again that it was most definitely lumbar spinal area. He didn't listen and low and behold of course the mri for the upper spine didn't show anything. After some other IRRELEVANT tests he wrote it off as "you have a little extra weight" and sent me on my merry way, with no problems solved, wouldn't do the lumbar mri, and didn't help me at all. Now, a year later, I'm still experiencing problems and some aspects are worse. I will be going back to see a new doctor but I really don't think I trust this place anymore. We shall see. read more

Looks sure can be deceiving. The office is beautiful. I was told to arrive early for an early morning appointment and still had to wait. The secretary was having what was clearly a personal conversation with a man at the window in Spanish. Even though I was standing waiting to check in this continued. After waiting quite a while to see the doctor-Bernbaum, I felt like I hardly had a real examination or a she took the time to listen to my symptoms. read more

Saw Dr Mebrahtu and could not be happier. He is a very thorough, competent and kind Dr. His medical assistant, Ms Yajama, is just as incredible. Handling multiple tasks at once all with professionalism and a smile to boot. What also stands out besides these 2, is the competency and professionalism of the whole office staff. When you arrive and when you leave, you deal with separate staff that specifically do each aspect of your visit. I have been going to Dr's for many years and have never seen such an efficient system. They do everything you need at one time, do not need to be told nor reminded of anything because they make sure everything you need is completed properly the 1st time. They do all this again with a smile, a happiness and professionalism that is rarely seen these days and even rarer in most medical offices. Everyone here from the Dr to all the support staff are very good at what they do and seem to really enjoy doing their jobs very well. read more

Dr. Xian, and Dr. Vaillancourt are EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude. I saw Dr.V first for injections on a monthly basis. One instance, my gf came with me, and he made an inappropriate comment about her attire. It made her feel very uncomfortable and upset me too so i immediately changed Drs. I started seeing Dr. X for my injections. I had a tumor in my head 20 years ago which caused permanent damage with my back, left hand/wrist, and right leg, with footdrop. I've been tested yearly since this happened with MRIs, and have been clear of any tumors. After Dr. X gave me botox injections for my footdrop for about a year, I went to my follow up appt. and explained that it was not working well for me, as he expected it to be. I asked him for any other methods to relieve pain and pressure. He didn't like the fact that his botox plan was failing me. He became very hostile, rude and defensive and said, "you have brain damage from the tumor that's why its not helping, you should get a brain MRI as soon as possible." He spoke over me as i tried explaining my MRIs are up to date. I left the office feeling completely hopeless, and unheard. Nobody should ever be made to feel this way. In my opinion, this practice should re-educate their Drs, and teach them about compassion for the patients. read more
