PARKING: Not the greatest parking situation. The lot is near capacity much of the time and it's shared with several businesses. It can get a little hairy during peak times so keep your head on a swivel. FACILITY: The overall space is relatively small and cramped feeling. They've jammed a lot of machines in here which is good for availability, but bad for maneuverability. Tons of new cardio equipment with USB ports, live TV, workouts, and even Netflix. You can create an account to save your personal workouts. Lots of space dedicated to free weights and cross-training areas with chains, pulleys, ropes, monkey bars, kitchen sinks and untapped beer kegs. Lockers rooms are on the small side but nice. Not terribly modern feeling, but clean and functional. Men's locker room has a dry sauna and three semi-private shower stalls. There is one group fitness room, and it seems popular. There are hordes of strangely dressed people in there, slowly handling invisible orbs in perfect unison. Try to avoid eye contact. Free coffee is available in a small sitting area near the front desk. CHILD CARE: The child care is free up to two hours per kid per day. The child care room here is small. Staff are friendly, engaged and competent. Given the space it's probably best for kids 3 and under. The keep the TV off at all times, which is great. Overall I go here because the location is convenient and child care is a must. The child care staff have earned my confidence. The space does feel a bit crowded, but this isn't a huge deal since I just bounce from machine to machine. read more

Not a bad gym. Never gets too busy. The masking is a little too laxed for my liking. They have signs up and all but a lot of people just wear it as a chin diaper while they workout and most of the time the staff ignores it. The water from the fountain taste VERY tap and isn't too tasty but it dies the trick. They could use some extra cleaning to the showers seeing as I've looked at the same wad of hair in the drains fir several weeks now. Great selection of equipment. read more

was told to stop deadlifting because I "was being too loud" and "dropping the weight" despite not dropping it. I told them I could switch to rubber plates and try to control the descent if that would make them happy. management was extremely rude when trying to sign up. additionally, there was fecal matter on the seat and stains in the sauna. literally go anywhere else. read more

I joined the gym when I first moved to Spokane 13 years ago. It was Gold's Gym then. I was alarmed when the Y took over but it was fine. The gym has everything I want to use, great weight room, excellent treadmills facing the windows, and helpful, friendly employees. The women's locker room has plenty of lockers and showers, which are handy for those who work out before going to work in the morning. Of course, if you join one Y gym, you can go to the others in town. read more

I liked this gym more when it wAs Golds Gym, however I use all of the YMCA's so I can use the pool at the other facilities and work out with my mom. The sauna is never on and you have to call them to check before you arrive. I did so, and got a girl on the phone. She sounded irritated on the phone, and instead of getting up to check, she said "It should be on. There's no reason why it shouldn't be". I get there and guess what!?! Sauna completely cold and no one has even turned it on for the day. I could have forgiven that, but then she lies to my face and says that no one ever called, as well as trying to act like it's broken. The sauna started to heat up, so I know it was working. I've put this sauna issue in the comment box and it's fallen on deaf ears. Half the time it is having issues and no one fixes it. Note to self YMCA South. Keep the damn sauna on!!!!!!! read more

This gym is super convenient and very affordable! They have great equipment and a lot of CrossFit equipment :-) their child care is amazing! My daughter looks forward to go in there every day. The stuff is super friendly and helpful! So happy we joined! read more

There's about 85 meatheads for every 1 squat machine and there's enough mirrors to feel like you're in a fishbowl. The staff doesn't seem available for questions on your first visit. No cubbies for your belongings, so I have to keep my keys and outerwear on me at all times. I've literally never felt more uncomfortable in a gym and I've been working out since my teens. Hoping my membership is only for one year because that one year ended last week and I'll be going somewhere else ASAP. read more
