My first time at Tattoo Collective Reno and I was BEYOND Satisfied!! Carlos did my Tat and he was AMAZING!! He was knowledgeable, kind, funny and caring and as you can see...he did an EXCELLENT Job capturing every detail of what I wanted.... Clean shop, nice music playing and just overall a great place... I will DEFINITELY be coming back to Carlos...actually already have an appointment for another one in 2 weeks!!

I've gotten one tattoo here & my husband has also gotten a tattoo here. My husband is also getting a custom half-sleeve done by King currently. It's a tradition Filipino tribal tattoo with some old Filipino writing on it. King is so amazing and patient while tattooing. He makes the room feel very comfortable. I've brought our kids here before to visit my husband while he was getting a tattoo. The entire shop is so kind. They offered candy, juices, fake tattoos, little toys, etc. The owner even once offered soup. (I believe the shop does charity work feeding the homeless once a week, which is awesome!) read more

The place is clean and very friendly. My issue is with a tattoo artist that was apparently a beginner. She suggested she could do a watercolor on an existing tattoo and it turned out less than adequate. I now have to see if the tattoo can be salvaged or I'm looking at a complete cover up . Not happy is an understatement. Bit of advice - Please don't promote ideas that you are not fully able to achieve read more

I first stopped by the shop a year earlier looking for a replacement earring. When I came in the shop I was blown away by how friendly and welcoming everyone was that i spoke to. I told myself that if I got another tattoo before leaving Reno I would definitely come here. I'm happy to say that the tattoo and skill matched the high quality customer service I first encountered. JD was fantastic on both tattoos. He adjusted the music to a band I was recently listening to. He allowed a ton of time for positioning the tattoo to make sure it came out perfect. He was super friendly and relaxing. You could also see how passionate he is about his work. I'm super grateful to JD and the family at at south town for giving me such a great piece of the Reno/Tahoe area to take with me read more

JD IS AMAZING. JD the owner is really the best in Reno, he is a pretty guy so be sure to book ahead. But if you are itching for a tattoo you can drop by and be assured you will receive an amazing tattoo. He has hand selected each of the artists at the shop and they are all phenomenal. I have had tattoos by Brandon and most recently stef. Brandon was amazing, he even kept the shop open a little later to do a tattoo for me. Stef had the lightest hand i have ever experienced. Definitely come here to either schedule or spit of the moment tattoo. All artists here are great. read more

While visiting in Reno my allergies got out of control and my nose piercing came out and I struggled for hours trying to get my piercing back in. And if you knowing anything about nose piercing they will close quickly. So I did the next best thing I googled for the nearest which lead me to South Tattoo Shop and I met J.D. Skinner. Now the son of the owner runs the place and apparently he allowed a guest artist to come in and do a Nazi tattoo in their shop. I'd like to start off with, I as a customer do not need to talk to a manager/owner to manage my…read moreexperience at their place of business. Especially if those experiences are integrated into their piercing practices as a whole. I as everybody else have the right to my opinion and what happened to us in their place of business. Here's a couple red flags I've noticed throughout the appointment. 1. They did not check the form for allergies nor did the front desk person tell the body piercer about the allergies that my friend who got pierced expressed to them about Latex. Mistakes happen but can be something that depending on the persons severity to the allergy could harm somebody. 2. They use the same marker on multiple clients, they claim to "sterilize" it by soaking it in a chemical but the marker touching multiple people on their skin is unsanitary even if they do alcohol the persons body before placing the mark. 3. The piercer had an open energy drink in their room, non water drinks in a "sterile" environment are unsanitary. 4. When they reset up the tray after laying latex gloves on it, they chemically treated the tray again however didn't wear gloves when laying down the cover for the tray and other items. 5. The piercer after piercing my friends lip ran the used needle back through the fresh hole to transfer the jewelry rather than use a taper, this is painful to the person getting pierced and also dangerous to the piercer if somehow they accidentally get poked with it. Once a needle is used it should not be put back in through the persons body, it's just pure gross. When asked if it was possible for them to use a taper they simply stated that they were not trained that way. 6. They do not use saline solution/clean your piercing after piercing you, they will apply dry cotton swabs and dry paper to your piercing to stop the bleeding. It's unnerving that they do not provide this kind of aftercare, not only is a fresh piercing in need of some kind of moisture but rubbing a dry cotton on it is super irritating. They will tell you to use antibacterial soap on the outside and give you some salt in a cup to make your own saline at the end of the appointment. I'd like to share that this studio has some things about it that make it charming, the overall ambiance is old school tattoo parlor with beautiful pin ups everywhere. Knowing the price point of the this studio with their jewelry included "surgical steel", you genuinely get what you pay for which is as the consumer I can take full responsibility for. Everybody has the right to perform SAFE and ETHICAL body art, at this studio it's very straight to the point. They were upfront about the pricing and the jewelry they used when asked. Customer service isn't a priority here, I could tell that the person in the front didn't have her heart in the practice of body art or the customers safety in mind. The piercer was kind and reassuring, I could tell she was a little annoyed when I asked lots of questions and asked for alternative methods. After asking about the marker they were quick to give me an answer as to why it's "okay" rather than offer a different solution when they would tell we were second guessing the experience. This made us feel like this business wasn't open to feedback nor willing to "hear it". It's hard to see the business owner be unkind to people who have had negative experiences in their business, if this is type of business you run should be accepting of this feedback and tell people straight up "you get what you paid for" rather than ask they speak with you first before leaving a bad review. I'm sorry that our experience was so poor, hopefully in the future this studio can improve and make the changes to keep their customers safe.

I had been to multiple specialists, surgeons, and the standard procedure for these issues is rest, pain meds, muscle relaxers, anti-inflammatories, and more rest. In my particular case, I was looking for relief from a painful heel spur that caused me to have a heavy limp. I signed up for one of her reasonably-priced packages that not only eliminated the pain in my heel 100% (with about 6-7 treatments), but she also significantly reduced knee joint pain that I experienced on a daily basis with periodic laser treatments. As long as I keep up with treatments every 4 weeks, my knees are nearly pain-free and I can go up and down stairs with reasonable comfort. Unfortunately, she discovered afterward that she had a pretty significant allergic reaction to one of the nail oils that was used during the service. That's not something I fault the salon for--she has sensitive skin, and allergies can be unpredictable--but it's definitely something we will mention before future appointments. Overall, the quality of the nail work was excellent. If you have known sensitivities, I'd recommend letting your technician know ahead of time so they can discuss alternative products. Despite her reaction, she was genuinely happy with how her nails looked.

That was disappointing, especially since I had arrived on time. I went in for a pedicure and wanted a white polish, but I was told they were out of white. While I believed her, I've honestly never had a nail salon run out of such a basic color before, so I had to choose a random shade that I ended up not liking. The pedicure itself was fine, but my technician was on the phone for most of the appointment, which made the experience feel impersonal. I originally found this salon through a TikTok recommendation. Later, I realized the creator worked nearby and appeared to know the owner--he even stopped in during my appointment to ask to borrow staples. That made me question how unbiased the recommendation really was. This salon has a lot of potential, but the customer service fell short. I was the only customer there, yet I still felt overlooked and uncomfortable. Between the paid parking, the price of the service, and the overall experience, I don't feel it was worth the cost.

I've never been tattooed at this shop but I have been harassed by one of their tattooers online. He seems to like to accuse Jewish people (myself, a resident of Reno) of loving to "k*lling kids". He also decided to go to my art page and comment "Genocider Garbage" on my art posts, clearly motivated because I'm Jewish. The tattoo community is one I've been involved in since I was 10 (going to shops with my dad) and it has always been inclusive. Obviously there will be outliers, this tattooer being one of them. Shop might need to rethink their hiring practices if they're going to have people spouting this kind of stuff online. read more
