Let me just start off by saying there is so much freaking talent in this shop! I found Blake while looking for an artist to finish my husband's tattoo sleeve that was started by a previous artist. Blake was so quick to respond, so easy going, and met with my husband to plan out the rest of his sleeve. Fast forward about a week and Blake had posted some awesome drawings saying he had some immediate openings to fill so I jumped on quick! I have been meaning to come in forever. Literally. My cousin has had a tattoo here when they were at the old location. She is from out of town and when she came back to town the following year she wanted to cover up the first tattoo. I went with her to get the cover up done and was completely blown away. Granted it was a top of foot tattoo that went from a blue balloon to a blue hibiscus flower and wasn't exceptionally large but I was amazed at watching the transformation before my very eyes. I do know the shop owner as a friend, but I remember talking about the process of tattoos and his opinion and knowledge came across to me as very educated and very concerned about hygenics and of course the talent his artists have. I really trust the cleanliness of this shop because of that. And I hope to some day have a smaller tattoo done to commemorate my transplant. But today I came in to take advantage of a special they had on piercings. I would call ahead and make an appointment for the piercing even if you think you dont need it. As I came in around 6 in Friday and the piercer had already left to be with her kids. I wasnt bothered though and made an appointment for the following day. As a newbie to anything besides ear lobe piercings, I really liked that Brenda took her time and let me take time on my choices. I got to ask a lot or questions and she was super helpful and patient. I chose a bit pricier option for jewelery and we were off to the back, private and bright piercing room. Once again the entire shop is so clean and open. It took maybe 10 minutes once back in the piercing room between marking, cleaning and then piercing. I got a forward helix and was unsure of the pain to expect. It is a very sharp pince for a second or two and then it was over. I am actually sitting at home and exclaimed to myself out loud "it doesnt even hurt!" Haha I remember getting my lobes pierced with the guns at Claire's and how much my ears ached after. I am even doing research now about getting those re-pierced correctly as I cant wear lobe earrings and I am reading it could be from the way I had them originally pierced. Anyways. The piercing cost itself for the forward helix was $30 without the discount. The basic jewelry of titanium starts around around $50 and goes up. I got a gold opal stud for my ear and it was around $90. Highly recommend for piercing and tattooing. Thanks guys. read more

The artist who is no longer there did an amazing job on my arm bands. All artists were extremely supportive of each other's skills..stopping by and checking out each other's work. That part was definitely a 5. However, the death metal cranked to 11 really didn't allow for a positive relaxing tattoo experience. As a production tattoo studio I understand the youth in the artists and their taste in music. The person I wanted was Jorge, and he was free for the next two hours. At 2:06pm I walked out with my right forearm saran wrapped, protecting my own personal sacred text that will remind me of not just the literal meaning of Live Long and Prosper, but to be logical in all things, to approach life without fear, and to remain disciplined. Jorge did a fantastic, amazing job on the tattoo. He hit every weighted piece perfectly. He made me feel incredibly relaxed, was extraordinarily professional, and redid the sketch on my skin so it could be perfect - tats are forever, and he knew that. Got my nostril pierced here at the end of March during their discount day at the end of the month, had a really good experience. Jena was very sanitary and explained everything she was doing, and made sure I was okay with the placement. After the initial piercing she stated that the piercing was crooked and asked if she could do it again, and I said yes. Initially, this doesn't seem like a good thing, but it is. She recognized that it wasn't her best work and instead of ignoring it and sending me on my way she wanted to fix it, and of course i consented. The piercing looked amazing! I really loved it but unfortunately ended up taking it out about two months later. Apparently I'm just not cut out for having a piercing there because it drove me nutso lol. Jordan is extremely rude, and even pocket checks you when booking an appointment and looks down on you if things happen in your life that delay finishing a tattoo as fast as he thinks he needs to. Not only that, but after trying to contact by email and phone call to reschedule, I never once recieved a reply. Just was completely ignored even after being told I'd get a call back. I should have seen the red flags when he said he doesn't allow anyone to sit in with you during the appointment even pre pandemic which is absolutely ridiculous. I am now looking for a new artist to cover what I had done as I am as uncomfortable having his work on me as I am being around him again. If you're considering ramming a piece of surgical steel through your face in a visually important spot, you'll want to come see Brenda. In my quest to see how many things I can do to my face without getting fired, I put a philtrum/medusa piercing on the agenda as my final (and most markedly obvious) modification. For those unaware, the philtrum is the slight concavity centered just above your top lip, and Medusa is a lady with hair made of snakes. My piercings prior to this session (over a period of time and via different piercers) included two piercings at an even height on either side of my nose, and a septum ring below. Adding the philtrum is the final flourish of an overall symmetrical aesthetic that I have envied from other pierced babes. That aesthetic, paired with my love for beautiful facial jewelry, led me to turn my search to Yelp for an experienced piercer who carried nicer 'starter' pieces to be pierced with. For a super low price at many shops, you can get a gigantic metal ball, or otherwise very loud attention-grabber attached to your face for the duration of the healing period. Typically, I'm right there with the bargain shoppers, but electing to go with the cheapest option means you're stuck with that clunker for up to 6 weeks. Getting something pierced with a basic barbell, labret, stud, etc, can cost as little as $40 in town, and you won't pay much more or anything at all for the jewelry. However, in recalling the giant barbell for my septum and the aggressive bull-ring vibe it gave me, I decided that this was the first time I would spent money on a quality piece of jewelry. a tiny, flat rose gold disc (by Anatometal - "Hera" end). For the piercing and the chosen piece (a rose gold flat metal 'Hera' disc by Anatometal), I paid $120 excluding tip. Yes, I even grimaced writing that number. However, I now sport a piece of jewelry that I love, and one that have would be difficult to find online to order once I healed. Etsy always has great body jewelry, but Reno Tattoo and Piercing had a wide selection of labrets for oral piercings, and it was nice to have a hard time deciding between quality options to choose from. Black Hole Piercing has a similar super-professional vibe and pricing scheme, and both are excellent for finding unique pieces if you afford a higher end face trinket. After Instastalking the shop, I found Brenda, the main piercer for Reno Tattoo (you can find a direct link to book an appointment with her via her IG handle: nein_tails). She (and other piercers) are available Tuesday-Sunday, and Monday by appt. only. As I went down the rabbit-hole of visual investigation, I felt 100% confident she would be the right gal to put a hole in my face. Her clients appeared to have both simple and complex piercing choices, and most elected to try more quality jewelry. Brenda is also a beautiful model of tastefully placed piercings, and is just generally a badass babe. Reno Tattoo is squeezed like 12 Grimmauld Place beside Kaia FIT and Recycled Records. Take the long stairway up to find a spacious reception area and a large selection of gems to peruse. Brenda took me back to a sterilized room to prepare everything, and had me lay down on the table in a supine position. She was very communicative in guiding me through the procedure, which itself was a strange cocktail of pleasure and pain. Brenda guided me through through the journey calmly and confidently. She handled the process like a pro, cuz she's a pro. This type of piercing is generally pretty inflamed right away, in terms of light bruising and redness around the site of the hole, so I was relieved to find that Royce was very dimly lit when I joined friends for a drink afterwards. The healing process otherwise went incredibly quickly, thanks to the healing power of the mouth. I did have a self-induced incident wherein I unknowingly caught the piercing on a towel and tugged, resulting in intense swelling overnight that looked like a collagen lip filler gone way wrong. I was unable to address it until 2 days later, as I had been sent to do fieldwork in Battle Mountain for the day. Brenda was my savior, switching out the original backing and relieving the swelling with a longer bar as soon as I got back to Reno. The inflammation immediately went down with the change. I made a second appointment amidst the apocalypse yesterday to downgrade the length of the bar to the desired smallest size for my philtrum, and I am happy to report that it fits perfectly for my lip thickness. The longer bar would periodically get snagged in my septum ring, which is is problem no one really thinks about occurring until it does. Brenda was super accommodating to my schedule considering the city mandate to close businesses that day, and I am beyond glad to have had her at the helm for these experiences. read more

I had to write this review because of how unbelievably professional and on point Jordan and his team at Reno Tattoo Company are!! I met Jordan about 3.5 years ago because I found his amazing work on social media and was blown away by his skill set with the use of clean lines along with vibrant colors. So he did my first two tattoos and he nailed them both! Exactly what I wanted, was super chill and understanding about any changes that I wanted done and really just great to talk to and have this experience with. Fast forward to September 2019...came back to Jordan with an idea for a piece to honor my late father. I had a pretty specific idea of what I wanted but also realized that there would need to be some artist rendering to make it translate properly on a tattoo. His first design was good but not all that I was looking for. I asked if he could change a good amount about the design that he had already taken the time to draw. I will say that this aspect of getting a tattoo can be VERY nerve racking...you want the picture of the piece to resemble what it looks like in your mind but we aren't artists so trying to convey that can sometimes be hard. Jordan took my advice and asked that I come back in a little bit. When I returned what I saw was amazing. He was able to render the drawing with the changes that I expressed and did it in a way that was exactly what I had imagined yet still left him to incorporate his own style of art. I've been coming here since I turned 18. I have gotten all of my piercings at Reno Tattoo Company and I also got my first tattoo done here by Brian Chambers about 6 years ago (which was a beautiful piece). Although I now see a different tattoo artist, I still come here for piercings. Their new location in midtown is way more spacious than their last and parking is also less of a hassle. It looks deceiving from the outside, but once you walk in you're blown away by how nice and open it truly is. It's on the second level, right above Recycled Records. The rooms are more private than they were at the last location which is nice. My first time at the new location was a few weeks ago when I decided to do a drop in around 6:30 for a daith piercing. I called ahead of time and was informed they were open until 8 taking walk-ins for piercings. When I arrived and told the guy what I was here for, he mentioned their piercer (Brenda) was just getting ready to leave for the night but would check and see if she could stick around to do my piercing. I got the vibe she was a little ticked off (which I could semi-understand, but at the same time they're supposed to be open till 8). It was my first time meeting her, all of my other piercings were done a while back by someone else (nose, belly button, cartilage). My co-worker had just gotten her daith pierced two weeks prior and told me it was $40. When going over jewelry and prices, Brenda informed me they had raised their prices and the lowest cost for a daith would be $52. It was more than I was expecting to pay, but the frequency of migraines I used to get were worth the cost. I was a little intimidated by her at first, but she seemed to warm up after a few minutes. It was cool of her to stay and take care of the piercing for me, which I thanked her for. She gave me some salt and care instructions to help keep the daith piercing clean and free of infection. read more

I have had several piercings done by Both Jena and Brenda at Reno Tattoo. I had to go back when one of the posts needed to be changed out for a longer one, and Brenda changed it out for me. My latest piercing was done very near to an old healed up piercing and I expected it to be quite painful. I have 14 piercings and 7 tattoos. 4 piercings and 2 (soon to be three) tattoos have been from this shop. I honestly don't know why I went anywhere else for any of my work. The piercers here are professional, clean, educated, and they make you feel comfortable. They have piercing deals on the last saturday of every month, and friday the 13th tattoo specials that bring in a ton of clients (many of which come back for more work.) I HAVE had one bad experience with a tattoo artist but thankfully he no longer works there. I feel like a friend walking into RenoTattoo Co. But when it matters, the artists become professional (but not stuffy) and welcoming. There are two piercers here, one female and one male. In some shops, there's only one piercer and if you want a genital piercing you're kind of screwed if your uncomfortable with the opposite sex doing it. All in all, I love RenoTattoo Co. Longer version: I was vacationing here for my 21st birthday last weekend. Someone told me to go to Ace's Tattoo on Virginia. So I passed this place up as I was walking there. That was a HUGE mistake. Aces treated me like crap. I called and they said to come down, I get there and they wouldn't give me the time of day. They kept interrupting me as I was talking, looking at me like I didn't belong there. They told me they had no time available, it didn't matter that I was from out of town, they couldn't help me, and even if I called a month in advance they would have never made an appointment from over the phone. So I walked back to Reno Tattoo Co. I explained what I was looking for, and they recommended who they thought would be the best for the job. How helpful is that?! They weren't giving me the person who was available that second, or most expensive, or their buddy, or whatever. They gave me the person they thought would be able to give me exactly what I wanted, someone who's style matched me. I felt so much better right then. I made an appointment for the next evening. Jen Minor came in on her day off just to tattoo me. She was beyond amazing. Straight forward, but in a good way. Friendly, and answered questions about tattooing that I bet she hears constantly. She gave me breaks when I needed them. She even made me feel better after I was embarrassed that I felt like I was about to pass out from the long tattoo. She was so great, and the work was so good that my fiance made an appointment for the next morning right before we left town so he could have work done by her. Everyone in the shop was nice and down to earth. They wanted to make me feel comfortable, not stare me down because I wasn't already covered in tattoos (Ugh. Aces). This was my first big tattoo and it was the best experience ever. So to re-iterate. Go here first. Save a headache. These people RULE. read more
