Well deserved one star to say the least. After giving them two chances I thought my pool would be at better state trusting them as they are licensed. Was I wrong not only did I walk in to my house that I'm renting the pool had green marks. My equipment was neglected they let water get in to the pump all they had to do was keep the control lid closed . I paid the price for it today I couldn't see the numbers so I let it go because I didn't want them any where near my home. But my whole drive was burned cost $800 dollar to fix it. Southcoast recently completed our pool remodel; new tile, new pebbletech, app-controlled equipment, sheer decent water features, spillways, cast in place concrete coping, concrete landscape wall re-configuration, underground drainage replacement and wrought iron fence alterations. Considering this was a big personal investment it was nice that they treated our money like it was theirs; they even found us a way to save costs on one element. The final cost landed near the initial quote. They did a fantastic job coordinating with us on the design including tile options/layout and pebbletech color choices. The work was performed through this latest rainy season with minimal delay. We were well informed on when activities were scheduled to happen and when decisions needed to be made (without being pushy). Additionally, there was no fuss about correcting defects where identified. The crews and management were extremely professional; they were referred to us by our neighbor who also had their pool remodeled and did not disappoint. Sandy and South Coast did a great job on a recent replaster job using PebbleTek. Professional, punctual and on budget. Very pleased.

We had new pool installed South Coast was start up pool company who worked with pool builder. Started off good with owners son doing pool cleaning for first month then another employee was assigned our pool. This employee did a decent job not overboard but did average job, part of issue was he was always training another employee. Then all of a sudden he's gone another guy shows up to clean pool, this has been a year and half pool filter was never cleaned , I'm not a pool cleaner but you would think pool filter would be cleaned within 6 months or so of start up due to pool plaster being new. Finally after 18 months another pool guy shows up says he was told to clean filter . At this point I was done having our pool as training ground or new pool guy every month besides the bad attitude of Southcoast Admin who can't seem to get to PO Box to pick up payment for at least 30 days after we mailed check. We have moved on from Southcoast and couldn't be happier with same pool guy showing up same time every week. read more

This is mainly a comment as it relates to their spa repair/resurface/construction portion. The only reason they even get 2 stars is because they did separate warranty work for my warranty company and it seemed to be ok. They have significantly wasted my time twice. My pool needs to be resurfaced. After the warranty job I decided to give them a shot at pricing me. They came, stayed for some time, measured and gave me the run around. Never gave me a quote. Here is where my mistake occurred: I called them like 6 months later to find out if they can still give me that quote (I had just remodeled the interior and wanted the yard worked on). I decided to give them another shot as I chalked that instance up to a "falling through the cracks" scenario. Oddly enough, after making the appt, I got a call from what I believe is the owner who actually remembered coming by, wasting my time and not following up. He apologized and said he'd come out and measure again and for sure give me a price. Day of, time was changed. I figured, ok, I won't complain as I want a good working relationship and I was able to accommodate. Again, he comes, stays, measured etc. once again dead silence. I don't get it. Why waste not only my time, but your own to drive down here from ventura county and do this task? It makes zero sense to waste your own time like that. I guess my job isn't big enough for them. They were nice enough on the phone and in person, just unfortunate this part of the transaction is so tedious with them. Good luck if they follow through with you. I had an appointment with this company today between 9 am and 11 am. I called and spoke with Michelle. She contacted the tech who stated he was leaving Sherman Oaks in 10 minutes and would be to my home within the hour. Almost two hours later, the tech called to say he was leaving Sherman Oaks then. I called Michelle back and informed her of the insane tardiness of her tech. She claimed that he told her he would be to my house within the hour. Who is lying here? Michelle or the tech? Regardless, this is unacceptable! I asked that the owner Sandy call me and asked to reschedule to tomorrow at 8 am. She agreed. She called me back five minutes later and told me that she called my home warranty company to have my repair sent to a different company. Awesome! Thanks for wasting my ENTIRE day! Here it is, 1:24 and the tech just showed up. I guess Michelle didn't let her own employee know the job was cancelled. Again, AWESOME! If you want to waste your time and be lied to, go ahead and use this company. They're AWESOME *sarcasm*. read more

Really nice job. A hectic time around the holidays for my pool to stop priming darn it! But Sandy from South Coast made it easy and was able to detect the leak and damage underground at the skimmer right away that was caused by huge roots. They removed and replaced the skimmer, concrete, and brickwork and were able to replace all, and match it perfectly to my vintage existing deck and spa area by carefully saving and reusing the ornamental tile between the bricks. I was impressed. It looks great and I felt confident every step of the way because everyone seemed to be the best at their job. Neat and tidy. His guys were able to reuse existing materials which saved us money. His company is a licensed pool contractor unlike a lot of so called pool companies that use a general contractor license. I called to inquire why the $1,500 pump they sold to the previous owner of our house died in 3 years when the useful life should be 10+ years. The owner, Sandy, spoke with me for 2 minutes. Very rude, not helpful and just tried to get off the phone with me. I am almost certain they sold us a lemon or some sort of refurbished product. Avoid this company!!! read more

Southcoast is an approved contractor with my homeowner's policy [Old Republic Home Protection] and given the typical poor service I've experienced with these approved vendors with these "homeowner's policies", I must say that from day 1 with Jackie running the office and the tech that came out in Steven, they came through with flying colors. They're communication was fantastic (I'd have even settled for acceptable, but they exceeded my expectations). They showed up when they said they would and they were straight up with me as I bounced the additional fees off my normal pool guy of 15 years on what I had to pay that wasn't covered by the insurance company, and they were absolutely reasonable. Bottom line, even with threat of rains during a wet week in Ventura County, they came through. Barring any malfunctions going forward, I'd work with them for sure if I ever have another issue with my in-ground spa equipment. read more

Southcoast Pool (Sandy Martin) did a very good job refinishing my pool and spa with mini pebbles and new perimeter tiles. They were are able to schedule it so the pool was down for two weeks only as they promised. They even replaced some of the spa tiles to accommodate a more consistent look. They also did a great job on the startup by adding the right amount of chemicals. Their price was very reasonable and I would recommend them to a friend. read more

The service does an "ok" job but the big problem with them is you can NEVER get them to answer the phone, unless they call you because THEY want to talk to you about something. You can call, (it says between 8A - 4:30P they are in the office, but that happened once) most of the time you will hasve to leave a message and MAYBE a few days later someone will call. Maybe NOT! They quoted me a good price for weekly service and then came the add-ons, like the chemicals, and then to look again at the heater that they had supposidely fixed, another charge. They would do "repairs" without approval then just send a bill. Their billing is done "randonly" no dates of services are listed, seems like just when they feel like billing, instead of listing all services for the month, it was here's a bill, pay it. read more

They were dispatched to our house via the home warranty company and the guy that came by was very professional and did a quick and OK job. the issue is with their billing practice - when the tech left the house he asked for credit card information so they run the deductible charges of $65 but few days later i see that they charged my card for the full amount of ~250. I called twice and left a voice mail yet no one called back; I called the home warranty company and they confirmed it had to be a mistake as they got charged for the same amount as well and yet five days later and still no resolution. Sandy and his crew did a fabulous job on completely renovating my old, ugly and dangerously deep pool this year. They completed the job on time, the end result was absolutely beautiful. The pool has a new shape, fresh coping, tile/plaster and it is shallower. We will sometimes call with special needs, such as pump not working properly or most recently heater not heating properly & they respond quickly.
