Great park!!! It rained in the morning and while the pavement and tables were wet -- the ground wasn't. Not sure where the muddy spot that everyone talked about -- definitely wasn't the case !! Unfortunately because I think it rained earlier -- no one was here !! But it wasn't muddy at all so please don't let these reviews be a deterrent. :) Four stars because there was dog poop everywhere. We noticed Texans don't pick up their dog poop. Please do better lol. Also there were car keys on the table if anyone is missing their keys. read more

Southdown Park is a great recreation area! We LOVE the playground!!!! It is covered by a giant shade/sail which is AMAZING in the hot Houston sun!! The ground cover is a non-mess rubber which is super cool. The playground is actually divided into two separate ones: one for younger kids and one for older kids. There is a Splash pad at this park BUT it is closed due to Covid. The Pearland Recreation website said that the splash pad is typically open April 1-October 1. Surprisingly, the restroom facilities were OPEN (despite Covid). Cleanliness of the faculty could use some work... it was pretty gross in there. Good to have access to a restroom nonetheless. Other than that, we didn't really explore the area much. There is a dog park here, a walking/fitness trail, pavilions for picnics, etc. We can't wait to return! read more

This is the 2nd dog park we have visited. Pretty clean and lots of dogs to play with our Thunder! The only issue was a mud puddle that the other dogs seemed to love to sit and play in. My favorite local dog park to go during the week. Why? because my little scared chihuahua, Maverick, is so small that he gets his own little "puppy park" area to run around in without being trampled by "BIG" cuddly pups. I love BIG dogs but Mav thinks they're going to eat him. The entire dog park is double gated and fenced completely around so letting your dog free as a bird is the best feeling I get here. While you let your dog run around in wide circles over and over or sniff the fecal exit route of another dog, you can chitchat amongst other dog lovers. They have little playground hoops and play doghouses for your four-legged creatures to jump through or sniff around. As long as we're in the area, we'll be here at this dog park :o) Buffalo Bayou Dog Park on Allen Parkway & Studewood is a favorite, too. read more

Love this place! I Bring my pups here as often as I can. Bring some camping chairs to sit on, there's a nice little hill that people sit together on. Great place to meet people! Really like the picnic tables right outside the fence. There's an area that gets pretty muddy when it rains. Would be great if they had a dog wash station so I didn't get mud all over my backseat. read more

This was a pleasant little dog park. Like most area dog parks there was a side for small dogs and a side for large dogs. My pup was a bit disappointed that there was no pool at this park but she made do with the large mud puddles that were on the ground due to a weekend of rain. The grass was cut short and the park was clean. The biggest reason this did not get 5 stars is that there was not a dog water fountain for them to drink, and more importantly there is no bath area to bathe your dog afterward, like many of the area dog parks. I would have been fine with even a singular hose but there was none. This would be a great addition to this dog park. read more

Today I took my little gal out for her first dog park visit. It's a Friday, and nobody else is here. No worrying about social skills this time. It's part of the Pearland event center. It's located next to a splash pad, softball field and walking track. there's a good sized parking lot next to it. The facility is well kept, decent sized, and close to home. There are actually two parks, one for the wee doggies, and one for the biggins. Our time was spent at the adults only park. There wasn't much animal waste so either the place gets cleaned regularly, or people are unusually good about cleaning up after their kids. There are lights here, but I haven't been in the evening to know if they work. Everything seems in good repair. The only downside is that there does not appear to be a hose to clean up with after our visit. That would be nice. A cleaning station. Aside from that, this place seems like a hot spot for the fur balls. We'll likely be regulars around here. read more

The grass is not kept well, and there are always those sticky pods on the floor that sticks to my puppies fur. But other than that, the park offers great space and obstacles to please even the most stubborn dog. I love taking my dog to this local park because it is close...and because there are always other dogs that mine can play with. Next time your around..come look for my little pomeranian running around amongst the big dogs!!! read more

Not a bad space, but the back fence of the dog park is pretty wrecked and I'm positive my dog could get out of it and head straight for 288 if I wasn't watching him closely. It had just rained when I went, but it wasn't insanely muddy so I let him run around for a while before we went to the office. I'd come again, just BE CAREFUL if you have a medium to small dog that doesn't listen or has a death wish. read more

This Dog Park is always wet and it stinks. The fountain, which conveniently has a dog-height water spout, leaks. That turns the convenience into a gross mess. There's no hose nearby , so you have to bring lots of towels if you want to bring your dog here. This place could be nice, but it doesn't drain well, plus the huge mud puddle caused by the leak is too gross for me. Dog-poop water is a health risk to my dogs, and to me. I'll drive the extra 20 minutes to go to the Dog Park at Independence Park. read more

I have 2 Huskies that travel with us for work! I like to find awesome dog parks to take them to. They absolutely love going, but this dog park was horrible! My youngest husky is 4 months old weighing 20lb, he was able to fit through the fence and get out. They also did not have any drinking water for the dogs inside where they play. The water was on the outside by the road, and was broke. They also only had one table to sit at, and the seat was broke, only allowing 3 people to be able to sit. Yeah the grass could be kept up a little better... there are a lot of bald spots... but my dog didn't seem to mind, lol... It's pretty big, has a lot of room to run around and little hill to climb. There isn't much seating and since it is a dog park i had no interest in sitting on the grass... another bench or 2 would be a great improvement for those of us with dogs that don't play with their human but like to play with just the other dogs. Bring your own water bowl, there is a doggy fountain outside the gate, but my puppy couldn't figure it out so i bring him a bowl now and fill it up before we go in. They have a big dog and little dog area. There are some training structures around if your dog is into that. They do provide bags and trashcans, which is rare and i will really appreciate that it's there if i ever space out and forget my dogs bags! read more

It was a pretty cool place. Had a lot of stuff for kids not to far away from the dog park itself. The dog park however was pretty simple. Had a couple of obstacles for the dogs to play with but all-in-all it depends on how playful your dog is; not much different than a normal backyard. I didn't have any problems with the fence though as others have been saying, and only because that's on the large dog size of the park, I have a little shih tzu mutt lol so we stayed in the small dog area. read more

I've been to this park quite a few times since moving to the Pearland area. I have a Basset Hound that I want to get socialized more with other dogs and I can say the dog park has been a big help. This dog park has a small area and a larger one separated by fences. There are few places to sit so you can watch your dog play. I love that it's big enough for you to throw a ball and wear your dog out. Poop bags are available all over to help keep the park clean. They have a doggie water fountain to quench their thirst as well. We usually stay in the smaller "puppy" park vs the larger one. It's a bit calmer there. I can say that the park is convenient with ample enough parking. It's right next to the "people" park too. The people that come to the dog park all socialize along with the dogs. It's a great place to bring your dog and stay for a few hours. The grass could be greener, but it doesn't effect anything in my opinion. read more

I like this dog park. So does my dog, I think. The whole park area is great, despite being right next to a freeway. My dog is really old, and we've stopped coming. But when we did, he seemed to enjoy watching all the other dogs run around. Everyone has a good time. He's pretty lazy, so I don't think he ever actually did anything except sit next to me and watch the other dogs. But having fun by proxy still counts, so this place gets two paws up. read more

This is a very nice dog park with a fun children's playground nearby and restrooms. After the heavy rains the past few days, the only place that is unusable is the volleyball / badminton area, which is a pond right now. My dog and I have met some nice people here on busier days. read more

Good size. Short fence that has some damaged areas, I would not bring a jumper or escape artist here. Only 1 covered area in each side. Neat hills to run up and down. No rinse off station which is a big plus for me at other parks. Do have free bags and lots of poop trashcans. I like the convenience to 288. If you want to visit this park, it might be best to schedule a visit to your groomer directly after. Each time we have come there are huge puddles and large clay/mud pits all over. The water fountains don't work and there is no dog rinse off station that could help some with the mess of it all. On top of that there is a pile of dog poop about every 10 steps. I love the location and that it is right beside the children's park where my son loves to play so we can kill two birds with one stone. I guess a better drainage system could help. read more

When I dog sit for my friends I always take their dogs here. It looks like they have such a great time with the other dogs here! There is a ton of room to run around in and throw a frisbee! They even have a gated off section for the small dogs so they don't get run over by the larger dogs! There is also a cute little drinking fountain for them there! read more

As someone mentioned, there's not a ton of seating, but the park is a great size and shape for keeping an eye on your dog while still providing lots of run space. I like that it's mostly mud-free and there are bathrooms in the event center/community hall. read more
