I took my granddaughter there who was extremely excited to learn to ride. Needless to say they treated her poorly. It was easy to see that the white students were given lots of attention while she was ignored or critiqued. DO NOT PATRONIZE this establishment if your child is a minority. read more

I cannot express my gratitude for the amazing impact this fabulous facility with the wonderful staff has had on not just one, but both of my granddaughters. I will never forget hearing my granddaughter saying her prayers after her first show, saying, "Thank you Jesus for the most wonderful day of my life". This center did so much for her confidence as a little girl, now she is grown, in the Army, and hoping to get a degree in equestrian science once she comes home. Now her younger cousin is riding there and the positive effects it has had on her have been remarkable. This is the one and only sport that has helped her overcome so many challenges that she faced. I highly recommend this Bay Area Equestrian Center especially for any child that may have emotional, physical or developmental challenges. There is just something special about the bond created with these magnificent horses. I appreciate the care and kindness shown to my granddaughters by the wonderful instructors as well. I really wish I could write a good review about Bay Area. Their instruction was top-notch, all of my instructors were thorough and engaging and I enjoyed my time taking lessons here. I purchased the foundation lesson package, and had no plans on progressing out of foundation lessons, as I ride/own horses elsewhere and was only riding here for fun with a friend. I got through a handful of my foundation lessons before I received a receipt for a missed lesson. I scheduled my lessons on a case-by-case schedule as I am busy with school, work, and my personal horses, so I was sure there was no way I missed a lesson. I called and the charge was promptly refunded. About two weeks later I called the barn asking to schedule a lesson with my friend and was told that would not be possible, since we had not yet graduated foundation lessons (which I understand, although we had received lessons together in the past). I also noted on the phone I received a second charge for a missed lesson and asked for an explanation. Not even 10 minutes after being told I was not able to take a group lesson due to not completing the foundation program, I was told that I HAD graduated from the foundation program and was being charged for routine lessons. During this phone call I asked to speak to the manager, but was told I couldn't. Later that afternoon I had my father call. During this phone call, we were informed that I had spoken to the manager previously about graduating from the foundation lessons and being placed in a more advanced lesson schedule. This conversation never happened. I had never spoken to the manager. The lady on the phone became very defensive and began to accuse me of lying. There was never a resolve to our situation, as we were both not allowed to speak to a manager. I wish this could've been resolved in a better manner, but unfortunately, it was out of our control. Take this review as a caution- the lessons here are amazing, instructors are well-informed, and the horses are well taken care of, but the management definitely needs some help and I would keep an eye out for unwarranted charges if you began taking lessons. read more

My daughter, who is 8, has been taking horse riding lessons here since she was 4. She started off taking private lessons, and has since moved on to group lessons. I have nothing but good things to say about BA Equestrian. All of the instructors have been knowledgeable and helpful. Her current instructor, Miss Ruth, is awesome. I've seen my daughter grow leaps and bounds with her. The center keeps the horses well kept and healthy. I've looked into the cost of keeping a horse there and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend BA Equestrian Center to anyone who is looking to learn to ride horses, especially children. read more

My daughter had a wonderful 2 days learning the ins and outs of horses. She came home so excited and proud of herself. She has never ridden a horse before, she is extremely afraid of heights and very shy in public settings but the wonderful staff at Bay Area Equestrian Center took such great care of her and really brought her out of her shell. I loved the parent demonstration at the end as well. The best part was getting to see her trot on a horse, weave in and out of cones and play "Simon says" while riding was great. Our family lives BAEC. My daughter has been coming for a year for foundation and group lessons. The instructors are patient and kind. The horses are well cared for and the stables well kept. The ladies at the front desk do a good job of remembering the kids and making them feel special, like they belong. They even let me take home horse manure for my compost! I definitely recommend Bay Area Equestrian center. The best part is that my daughter loves going so much that she keeps her grades up so she can get her lessons. Then making good grades became a matter of pride to her instead of just something she had to do to get lessons and last year she made Honor Roll for the first time. She has become more motivated and she looks forward to her "horse therapy" each week. read more

I loved my horse but I paid 45 dollars for several foundation rides. I was not given criteria for moving to a group ride except it had to be okayed by the teacher. I did not realize my 30 mins included brushing, tacking and cleaning hooves which I actually enjoy doing. Not to mention, it was 5 mins for the instructor to bring the horse, I had a 5-10 min ride/instruction!? Not worth it at all!, don't waste your money. The instruction in tacking could have been done by a passerby as I had most of it down except the order of the 3 neck bridles. read more

My daughter absolutely loved it as well as I. Even though she's only 6, they paid attention to her in detail and assisted her every step of the way. Her instructor certainly has passion behind what she is doing and it showed while she was assisting my daughter. We have changed our mind in just going every other week to every week.
