Then there was today nothing wrong with the park or anyone at the park BUT there's a house off of E Murray St and they were shooting pelt guns towards the dog park. I have the full address if y'all want it. I yelled out to them to not shoot this was but they just showed me that I was #1 and kept on . I'm very grateful that my dog wasn't hit by a pellet and they're very blessed they didn't hit her with a pellet. As much as I love going to this dog park we won't be going anymore. There's no reason to shoot pellet guns into a dog park that takes a certain kind of Stupid to do such a thing. You can tell they truly don't care about any type of pet . So if anyone has a good dog park suggestion I'll be glad to hear it. Nothing against Officer Cash dog park but for the safety of my dog we won't be going there anymore.

See below: Neat dog park dedicated to K9 Cash, the first K9 officer of the Angleton Police Department. I like the tribute! The entrance is to the right of the Angleton Animal Control building, with plenty of parking. Make sure your pooch has it's shots prior to going and gets along well with others! They have an obstacle ourse for dogs made from recycled playground parts which is neat. There's a seesaw, a "jump through", weave pol, a tunnel, a slide, and a couple other things. There are picnic tables for the humans to sit on- be sure to bring your own water for yourself. There is a water fountain for the dogs (and one higher up for humans), but I'd still bring a bottle with me. There's also a small fenced off area where you can take smaller dogs, if the big ones are too rowdy. There's doggy waste bags at the entrance of the bigger part for the dog park. Sometimes it's empty, I'd let animal control next door know this because they usually have extras. It does get hot in the summer, but there's a small covered area. Bring bug spray if it's mosquito season and it's later in the evening. There's a dog park group for this particular park on Facebook, so you can set up play dates with other pooches. Works well if you have a bigger dog and want equal sized playmates, lol!

Southdown Park is a great recreation area!…read more We LOVE the playground!!!! It is covered by a giant shade/sail which is AMAZING in the hot Houston sun!! The ground cover is a non-mess rubber which is super cool. The playground is actually divided into two separate ones: one for younger kids and one for older kids. There is a Splash pad at this park BUT it is closed due to Covid. The Pearland Recreation website said that the splash pad is typically open April 1-October 1. Surprisingly, the restroom facilities were OPEN (despite Covid). Cleanliness of the faculty could use some work... it was pretty gross in there. Good to have access to a restroom nonetheless. Other than that, we didn't really explore the area much. There is a dog park here, a walking/fitness trail, pavilions for picnics, etc. We can't wait to return!

This is a fairly accessible dog park, and with plentiful dedicated parking, which is really appreciated. Unfortunately, the park smells quite bad (probably because it is well trafficked), but there are also places (at least on the small side) where owners have not picked up after their pups, which adds to the sense the place is not sanitary. The pond is a nice touch, but as above, I worried about the cleanliness of the water. I am so glad the city curates spaces like this, but there are much nicer spaces in the city to take your pup!

To make matters worse, one of the other regulars confirmed that it happens often which was evident by the mounds of glass is random parts of the parking lot. Called the cops. The online photos made the place look nice and homey. NOPE. It was the exact opposite when I got here. This place is literally covered in dog feces, and the pond for dogs to swim is filthy brown. The place was such a disgraceful eyesore I literally went around and picked up ALL the dog feces that was left by other owners in this park. Seriously. I did. SIX BAGS OF IT. And if you know me at all I'm not even the type of person to do that, but this place is so gross I had to clean it. Is there a Yelp badge for cleaning up after terribly irresponsible dog owners? Cause I sure got one. Not to mention the people in the neighborhood next to this dog park act like they own this place. And honestly I'm not afraid to put someone in their place. It's a public dog park, get over yourself.
