This was always the station I took into the city when I lived in Connecticut. The trains between Southeast and Grand Central run until around 2 in the morning, which is useful if you're going into the city for a night out but not staying over. The huge parking lot is a double-edged sword: you'll always find parking, but if the only parking available is at the very far end, you'll have to frantically run about half a mile in order to not miss your train. They offer free parking on weekends & holidays, so that's always nice. read more

This station has a large parking lot but that's about it. Their is no one around at night, the Parking lot is lit but it's deserted. Their are no restrooms or security patrolling the area. I'd advise not to take the elevator it either breaks and you will be trapped or its very dirty. read more

Minus 1 star for the gargantuan parking lot...because it sucks to hike across that at midnight when you've been in the city all day. However if you are considering Danbury branch service, drive 15 more minutes and go here. Better service, a round trip is about 80 minutes shorter for only $2 more. And for the love of God, buy your ticket here, don't be the idiot paying $8 more and paying on the train. Free parking on the weekend. Bathrooms would be nice, but otherwise nothing fancy, but who really cares? Personally, I prefer Brewster station, but more often than not the parking is lacking so I end up coming to Brewster North *ahem* Southeast. read more

If you're going to NYC for the day, the best place to catch the train for those in the Greater Danbury area is at the Southeast Train Station. While Danbury and Bethel have their own stations, it is just more of a hassle to take the New Haven line due to having to transfer in Stamford. If you drive a mere 15-20 minutes over the state line into NY, you can hop on at Southeast and ride direct into Grand Central without having to transfer. The station, itself, is barebones. The parking lot is long and you may end up parking close to 1/4 mile away from the entrance thanks to its popularity. This is not a station that I would use if I am accompanied by someone in a wheelchair or who has trouble going up and down stairs. As you must ascend a steep flight to buy your ticket and then descend down a second set of stairs to the platform. Do not wait and buy your ticket on the train. Buy it while you are awaiting the train's arrival. While you can buy it on the train, it's almost 7 to 8 dollars more expensive on the train than at the station. There is nothing by means of food or drink at this station either. Try to grab a coffee at the Dunkin Donuts just down the street if you have time. read more

Not much else to say except that it's been my transfer between Wassaic and New York City for a good 18 years (!!!), and it does the trick, with the connecting train in either direction either there or mere minutes away. When you get to Southeast, you're roughly 40 minutes from Wassaic an about an hour and fifteen minutes from the Harlem 125th Street MetroNorth station. One time, many moons ago, I when I still lived in Connecticut, I drove and parked there; the parking lot is very vast. In the day, it didn't really matter, but at night, it's a little freaky to walk to the far end alone. Fun note: If you walk up the stairs between the platform and the parking lot, you can find some vending machines. If you have a few minutes to kill and need a snack, go and get it! read more

Very basic station. No in-person help but they do have the machines in a handy location. I believe parking here is a nominal cost ($3, I hear) & it's free on weekends. No problems with long waits for the train though it does get cold on that platform. read more

Southeast has a lot of non-permit parking (for a fee). Parking is free on weekends in any spot (permit or non-permit). There is handicap parking as well (same rules apply for weekdays and weekends). There is an elevator for handicap/elderly/small children). Heated structure to wait in on cold days. Trains are pretty much on time. read more

They must hose these elevators down with urine each night. The stench is always there. This putrid station makes the $40 roundtrip ticket to NYC tough to swallow. It's actually cleaner at the Brewster station. read more

Parked here for a vacation trip into NYC after driving from Maine. Came in on a Sunday and the next day was President's Day so we got 2 free days of parking. Parking lot is very long but to be able to park so inexpensively and have a no-hassle trip in/out of the city it was a small inconvenience. We bought tickets and a metrocard from the kiosk. We have friends who live nearby in CT and they recommended this station. 4 stars only because there are no restroom facilities. read more

Southeast, or Brester North, as some folks call it is popular with CT commuters and it is tough to get a parking pass for the right side of the parking area. I waited 2 years for mine and I live in Carmel, NY-a 10 minute hop on I84. It is a long haul for those in the left hand pay-for-parking area. There are metered spaces along the tracks in the latter half of the right hand parking area, but those are gone early in the AM. Handicap parking is usually gone by 8am and the station could use a few more spaces. The SE station IS accessible for handicapped or physically impaired people, as there is an elevator BEHIND the stairs going up to the ticket machine area and another elevator opposite the down staircase which brings you down to the platform, where the first car going toward NY stops.. Granted, one or the other may sometimes be out of order. If it is, the elevator at Croton Falls is usually working (however, those without parking passes may be out of luck to find parking there as there are only about 60 pay-for-parking slots and they are usually gone by 8am the latest). The pay-for-parking area is a good walk to the track area-uphill-so be mindful of that. There may be some handicap parking at the track area, but call first. You WILL get a ticket from North Salem police if you are parked illegally. There is a coffee truck called Anastasia's at Southeast usually for rush hours, starting at 4 am (say Hi to Peter!), and he carries bagels, muffins, rolls as well as coffee, tea and juices. He does carry specialty teas and decaf too! If Peter is not there, stop at the Dunkin Donuts in the right section of the mall (Applebee's side) on your way to the station. Hope this info helps those looking for some handicap access. As always, calling ahead to check access status is best. read more

The station at Brewster is adorable and looks like it could be in a Hallmark movie. There is limited parking, but if you're just being picked up, it's easy enough for someone to grab a spot and wait (or just circle around until you come out). I like the Brewster station. Note: you need to be in one of the front four or six cars to exit at this station, so don't get on at the back of the train.

Then the station is locked, so if the weather is cold you can only stand by the tickets station, which is not that big. The taxi charge 30-45 dollars to take you someone, especially if you live in Danbury. There is not enough shuttle buses at the train station. A bathroom would be nice. Children, elderly, pregnant women do take the train now a day.

I haven't used this service in awhile and as I got into the taxi I started to remember why. First of all, I do want to give them props for calling when they reached my house, instead of honking in my driveway like some other taxis do. But it was hard to get into the taxi- the car door handle was missing and the driver wasn't aware. When he pulled out of my driveway, I had to type my destination into his phone which is annoying considering he could have done it himself while we were sitting there. The ride was quiet, I was on my phone texting my partner updates because he was going to pay for the taxi. I had remembered that this taxi service had always been wonky with their prices, and was hoping they'd charge near the normal amount. I take this ride weekly and get charged $12-$15. When we got to the house, he told me $20! I was shocked. I asked the driver to hold on while I got my partner to pay. When I told my partner the price, he was furious. He began demanding where the driver got the number from and was refusing to pay without explanation. The driver explained the price increase by saying we were basically paying for the ride from where he started, to my house, to my destination! The argument went on, we were charged unfairly. The driver had threatened to call the cops so my partner finally caved and left him $20. I can assure neither one of us will be using Southeast Taxi again. I want a consistent price, not made up ones. Also, taxis with door handles are nice.

It's a quiet little station devoid of the crackheads who are rampant in Waterbury, so police presence isn't needed late at night - yeah, it's deserted, but on the same side, nobody's going to bother you walking to your car at the garage across the street because there's nobody there to bother you. However, if it's the weekend or I don't want to spend a zillion years travelling, or just need better service frequency, I'd take the extra 15 minutes to ride over the state line to Brewster. On the weekend the slight extra expense for tickets evens out when your round trip is 80 minutes shorter and parking is free. That said, during the week there are some direct to/from GCT trains during peak hours.

There is parking right in front of the station which I opted not to do as I have black leather seats which would be scorching when I got home and thinking ahead I do not want to shovel snow off my car. I park in the deck which is very close. The conductors on this line are very nice and even comedic. While the ride to Stanford is long - I know I will quickly get used to it. I can sleep! It has only been 3 days but the service has never been delayed.

This station has signs of MTA Metro-North Railroad and logo but the trains that stop here is actually NJ Transit which operates on time. There are self-service ticket machines that function 24/7. There is also a small indoor heated sheltered waiting area which is useful during inclement extreme cold and rainy weather. Not sure if there are any facilities at this rail station.

For just 1.50 and free parking you may leave the car in Newburgh side, take the ferry. It takes less than 15 mins to get to the other side of the bridge, directly stopping at the Beacon train station. The route: Start by walking under the Beacon train station to the parking lot. Take the stairs up to this mini park and hang a left there. Keep following that route until you reach the main entrance to the bridge. Ensure to stay on your left, as it hooks to the bridge on left. There's not much crossing the road. Maybe, some parking lots here and there but that's about it. For your safety, always be aware of your surroundings for cars as they drive b fairly fast. This is a about a mile to the bridge. On the bridge, it made me nervous. I couldn't help but look down to the river. You are running on a metal plates all the way through. This is very sturdy although, the shaking could be unnerving. Next time, I will take a bag with me. Across the bridge is about 2 miles, keep following the trail to exit the bridge and will take you directly on the road to Leroy Drive. This road doesn't have a pedestrian walk way but fairly safe other wise. Along this route, there are some homes that are historical to Newburgh. This road is another mile to get to the port or docking station. Don't forget to stop in to take a pic or have a beer. Some restaurants here have the view overlooking the bridge. Key note: Please be careful when parking your cars on the parking lot. Although, there's immense foot traffic, stay within those hours when the area is busy in Newburgh. Another safe way to do it is to park your car in Beacon lot, free on weekends. Take the ferry to Newburgh and run from there (opposite to what I did). On Saturdays, Beacon train station has a Farmer's market. It's very small but worth checking with free bands playing.
