Raymond our tour guide was super friendly. We were debating on going on the Skagway Train ride, but this was so much less! Unless you want that train experience, this was so much more cost effective. Great views of the mountains and you get glimpse of the Gold Rush historic places. TIP: bring your passport, and ensure you use the restroom prior to your tour. Very wonderful tour! We had Bill for our bus tour guide and he made us feel like family, talked to us in a way that was relaxing, entertaining and very informative. He wound us through town and showed us highlights of Skagway as well as giving us quite a bit of history. Once we left the main part of town we headed out through the Yukon Territory, which is part of Canada, and he pointed out several spots and points of interest along the way. Such beautiful country and even though I've been to Skagway, I'd never gotten the chance to head out into the mountains and see such amazing beauty. This was a perfect excursion since, with the bus, you can stop, if need be, to see passing wildlife or to take pictures. We did both along our route. We had the pleasure to go on an ATV adventure with Mike Mike and Bill! We had little Mike for our jeep excursion and it was amazing! Well worth taking advantage of if you want to see the beautiful sights these countries have to offer. We took a bus from our boat from Skagway to Canada.(about an hour) What was amazing was the sightseeing you had the chance to see while driving up to our destination. Bill was our bus guide who told us some history and new facts of what's been going on with the area we were driving by. The hour drive flies by so don't be discouraged lol What I found exciting was when we made this random turn up a hill but was really a mountain to our tour guides. There we were greeted by mike and mike(father and son) We had like I mentioned little Mike, he and his father are new to giving these excursions as of this summer. Told us this story of how him and his father met the owner and they fell in love and decided to do this for the summer. His excitement telling us all about it got us excited to see what we had in store. This is an abandoned earth core testing area and when you go on the excursion you'll know what I'm talking about but I don't want to blow the adventure. We then drive up the mountain and was taken to an amazing view of iron mountains and regular ones and a nice hike to see a beautiful glacier! Photos do it no justice! We did a Skagway city and White Pass summit tour on the 6th September. It was overcast and raining and the road conditions were dangerous and at no stage did we feel comfortable with the tour. It wasn't until our driver was notified that another bus had an accident that our driver slowed down and drove to the conditions. Visibility was approx 10 mtrs , we couldn't see any of the supposed highlights of the tour and for safety reasons the tour should have been cancelled. If you are thinking of doing this tour don't book until you get to Skagway and access the conditions for your self. read more

We did the Glacier ATV tour and it was **BY FAR** the highlight of our entire Alaskan cruise!!! (Southeast tours runs MANY different tours, FYI --- I wish you could review it by specific tour!) We were kinda bummed that they jammed six grown adults into each ATV-- resulting in my husband and I ending up being split up for the excursion which super sucked. :( However... we could overlook it due to the awesomeness of the excursion. I will say this: I'm glad I didn't know ahead of time that the van ride out there was an HOUR long each way, b/c it might have kept me from booking this tour in teh first place. DON'T LET IT DETER YOU!!!! 1:) it's super scenic and goes quickly 2) IT IS WORTH IT!!!! You get to the ATV point and you get on these rugged, six-person ATVs and then they trek you up the mountain side on an old mining trail they used to dig samples (which you can also view and search through for gold veins in the samples at the end of the trip if time allows). Then you go up and up and up and up. You watch the timberline disappear until you're so high up (5500 feet) that there are no trees, just rocks and barren landscape and it feels like you're on a Mars rover, just drifting over another planet with the mist and fog moving around you and the hills and mountains. Seriously, like ANOTHER PLANET. Pictures cannot do it justice! Then you keep going up, and eventually, WHOA, you're at your own private glacier and glacier lake: Paddy's Peak. It's Jaw-droppingly beautiful. And it's just you and maybe 12 other people, in the middle of nowhere, at the top of the WORLD, and just takign in this amazing site. **everything** in Alaska is hard to capture in pictures --- this glacier/glacier pool looked like you could take a quick walk to get to the water's edge.... Nope. Our guide, Mike Jr, said that it would be a good 15 minute walk to get down there! My husband tried to throw a rock into the water from where we stood at the top and came *nowhere near* hitting it. Mike Jr. laughed and said no one has been able to hit it yet - you're just note even CLOSE. The scale, the enormity, just can't even be processed by your brain. After that, they take you to another location that makes it seem like you're on the edge of the world, just towering rocks, a huge lake far far far down below, clouds and fog rolling in and out. Totally surreal. And then you sit down to a picnic lunch (yummy, by the way!), just in an otherworldy environment. Words, pictures... just can't do it justice! My driver was Peter and he was crazy and amazing and so much fun. He broke away from the group towards the end and took us down RIGHT INTO a rushing creek for an epic photo op. Peter has been living "in the bush" for 10 years -- ask him about his personal story and you will be left speechless! 100% absolutely totally recommend this to everyone. Worth EVERY PENNY. (we booked direct through their website, not through our cruise ship) Dress in layers and warm, b/c when you get to the very very top and the wind is passing over the ice of the glacier, it got COLD and I was glad to have my gloves and hat! read more

I did the 6 hour shuttle tour to the Sled Dog Camp aka Caribou Crossing which includes petting puppies, other farm animals, a BBQ chicken lunch for $104.00. (WAY better than the train ride, my fellow cruise friends did not enjoy that) For $45 at the camp I paid for a 15 minute ride being pulled by the sled dogs and interact with the mushers. It was great for me and my family who did not want to do that portion of the trip. Brian, Bryan (sp?) was GREAT! He told us all about Skagway, the inhabitants, daily life in the dark winters, their education system, the small town feel and just made me love Skagway more than all the other stops in Alaska. On the drive up he constantly stopped to allow us to take gorgeous photos. We were lucky to have CLEAR skies and saw mountains, mirror lake, the 1 side suspension bridge, his self named proposal rock, and he would also give us tons of stories about his past trips, jokes about going through Customs, and educational things like why the pine tree's there are so tiny! I loved all the things I learned and saw. We stopped by a camp and saw bear markings on trees and I skipped a rock and touched the icy waters of... lets call it Touchy lake! I can't spell it there either. If you are lucky, and have time, you can also stop by Emerald Lake at the end of the trip. Really LOVED this tour line and the prices were $20-50 cheaper than the cruises and I felt the passion he has for his job and this town. A++++++++ read more

We had 3 tour guides, with Bill being our first contact. They really took care of us & we felt like family. Took the 5 hour trip from Skagway up to the dog sledding camp up in the Yukon Territory. The sights where breathtaking. The landscape is like none else They provided lunch at Caribou Crossing (generous portion of chicken, baked potatoes and dessert with coffee). We stopped multiple times for photo ops at the Alaska state sign and the Yukon Territory sign. The tour met in downtown Skagway at the coolest little popcorn shop. Everyone was very friendly. Bryan is far and above the guide of Alaska. He knows the details and the history. You are not trapped in a tour bus but entertained and educated about all aspects of The Skagway and Yukon area. He is willing to pull over and encourages you to look for wildlife. Yelling bear gets an actual response. The luncheon served at caribou creek is worth waiting for. And the exhibits, gift shop and museum offer a bit of everything. Visiting playing and getting to know the sled dogs was a treat. These social dogs want to interact and have a bit of your time. And you just want to take the puppies home with you. But Bryan frisks you before leaving. It was such a fun adventure.... read more

Was 2 hours, stopped at a waterfall & Welcome to Alaska sign which driver told everyone to get off the bus and he would take photo. It was nice but that was part of the 2-hour experience. Had a stop at an outhouse to use the bathroom. Then the summit / or near buy was a photo opportunity and we turned around. We were in a group of travel agents' part of our group got to go on a longer tour, and they went to a dog sled camp which would have been nice to see. If I would have planned it individually, I would have asked for my money back. Again, we were in Skagway and if there isn't much around and you have to come up with something for a tour. It was also to include a city tour. The only thing about the city was what restaurants were in town and what they had on menu. Very Disappointed. We hadn't booked any other tours at other ports, and we should have. Didn't see much but tourist shops in the port towns. read more

We scheduled this tour before or cruise. It was cancelled because of a family emergency. They tried to call me, but I did not have cell service on the ship. When we checked in for our tour, they told us they got us on another tour from a company down the road. They took us there and made sure everything was in order. Fantastic is all I can say. Bryan Terrell was our driver/guide. He not only is a great driver but he told us so much about the area and "how to live in Skagway ". The time flew by. (6 hr tour) We traveled to the Yukon. Bryan made several stops for photo opportunities and always had a great story and tons of information. Our lunch(simple and delicious) at Caribou Corners was fun. We played with puppies and learned about the life of the sled dogs. The views are spectacular and Bryan was able to arrange a sunny day (haha) in Canada/Yukon. All I can say is- Take this tour.
