On our way back to DC from New York, my mom, sister, and I stopped over in Philadelphia for a…read morecouple of days. We stayed with a friend in the suburb of Media (the first American fair trade town and home of a big FBI scandal in the 70s), and in order to get to downtown Philadelphia, we had to take the Regional Rail train from Media Station, a 40 minute commute. Unfortunately the train only ran once an hour, but it was quite reliable. Media Station is small, but it was comfortable, with benches and indoor seating, and most important of all, a bathroom. Ed, the ticket agent, was friendly and helpful, and very patient with my mom, who asked him a billion questions. Although the train runs seven days a week until quite late at night, the sales office is only open Monday to Friday, from 5:15am to 11:15am. However, you can purchase tickets on the train.

It also stops at other center city stations, to connect with regional rail and subway lines. This line does not go directly to the airport. You are better off getting a taxi or private car for the time it would take to make connections for the airport. * * * TIP * * * There is a GREAT convenience store up the hill and across the bridge to your left, Kovac's. These are the BEST hoagies around!!! We don't just go there when we have to catch a train; they are on my list for top hoagies in the whole Phila area. This historical station has been around a LONG time and little has changed. See vintage postcards I am posting.

I was recently selected as the chairperson for a trip to Washington, DC by our VFW post. Lucky…read moreme..... I have never booked a bus trip before. I have only ever gone on bus trips as a passenger with other groups. I didn't have a clue what to do so I just searched online and started calling places. I figured in my head, hey I get the cheapest price and the guys will be happy. The first couple companies I called were nice enough, and gave me prices, but certainly did not go out of their way to make me feel that comfortable or make this any easier on an old guy like me. Honestly, Werner Coach was the last place I called. I'm so glad I made that one last call to Werner! The woman who answered the phone transferred me to the sales manager, Lynsey. What a blessing! I apologized that I didn't really know what I was doing, but I needed a rate for a bunch of us guys to go to DC. She was so nice and knew exactly what questions to ask about what we wanted to do. Things the other companies didn't ask about rest stops, itinerary, she suggested places we could stop to eat and was just a joy. She was so accommodating even until the day before the trip when she called to confirm all the details. When our bus arrived earlier than expected I breathed a sigh of relief. The bus was clean, the AC worked, and it was comfortable. The driver pulled up, got out and introduced himself and shook my hand. His name was Jason. He went over the itinerary with me to make sure there were no last minute changes. Everyone loaded and we were on our way. Jason's driving was excellent. He was very cautious and safe. Even in Washington, DC. There was so much traffic and some of the streets are narrow and he handled it like a pro. Throughout the day he was on time and ready even when we were running late a few times. He pointed out sights to us as we drove by which was appreciated. We got home a little late due to traffic, but it was an awesome trip thanks to Werner. From the first call, to the time Jason dropped us off, they were first class. I am definitely recommending them to everyone I know!

The Moylan-Rose Valley station is located on the Media/Elwyn line of the SEPTA regional rail system…read more(in Zone 3). It is between the Media stop, and the Wallingford stop. Access to the station is from Manchester Ave. This is closest to South Media as well as the two neighborhoods mentioned in the station name. Manchester Ave. is not very walkable into town, with a somewhat busy road and no sidewalks. I do not recommend this stop if you are walking and are not familiar with the area (it does connect to bus 118). If walking, you are better off getting off at the Media stop to access Media Borough. *If you are trying to get to The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, then yes, this is closest, but still, watch traffic as you walk there, because that bend of the road is dangerous in a car, let alone on foot. There is a sizable parking lot at this station, however it is pretty full as are most SEPTA regional rail lots. (I know a number of people who live nearby and walk there.) Each space costs $1 in quarters at the machine per day. This station has a SEPTA ticket office, open 5:15am-11:15am M-F. This station also has a US Post Office (which is only open M-Sat 7am - 10:30am -- see separate Yelp listing). There is a small porch overhang off of the station house for inclement weather. Fun Fact: This station has operated since 1870!
