I was less than impressed with the service provided by Southern Charm Events. I rarely give low reviews and usually try the service twice before reviewing if my first experience was negative. However, I would not recommend this service and I will not be trying it again. More than a few important aspects of my friend's wedding day were overlooked, which added stress to a day that should be solely full of celebration. As a scholar deeply committed to uplifting the Black community, I am a proponent of supporting Black-owned businesses. Unfortunately, Southern Charm Events Group's performance at my Line Sister's wedding made me regret that support. The services (and I use that term loosely) delivered by Danielle, the Day of Coordinator, were nothing short of horrendous; they amounted to a dereliction of duty. There was no task too small for Danielle to bungle. Even the minute details eluded her competence: one of the bridesmaids who was not holding a flower bouquet asked Danielle what she should do with her hands; Danielle simply did not respond. It was left up to other bridesmaids to provide the information. A slightly more abhorrent failure occurred when members of the bridal party informed Danielle that they were vegetarian. There were a wealth of options that she could have brought to the table, but she settled on a lone bowl of Brussels sprouts that, in the end, were topped with pork rinds. For those that are inclined to think, "well, at least she tried," it is important to note that that specific blunder was indicative of Danielle's performance generally--she was, quite simply, a day late and a dollar short in all regards. The most egregious example of her negligence and incompetence is that she started the wedding without the officiant being present. And, to add insult to injury, because she showed up to the wedding dressed as if calisthenics was the theme, it was left to the photographer to deliver the bad news to the groom. It took the loving bridal party, family, and friends, along with the absolute graciousness and poise of the bride and groom, to remedy Danielle's multifarious shortcomings. I cannot stress enough how incredibly inept, unprofessional, inadequate, and deficient her services were. In my opinion, which is shared by the overwhelming majority of those who attended the wedding, Southern Charm Events group is boo boo. read more

Southern Charm Events Group was beyond unprofessional at one of my best friend's weddings. Danielle came dressed completely inappropriately for the elegant black tie affair. Danielle wore Zebra print pants and flip flops, which was completely out of place and unprofessional. Danielle had the procession begin without the officiant being present and provided the officiant with the wrong start time. When this was brought to her attention she claimed she did not have the contact information of the officiant, a detail that all wedding coordinators should have. When it came time for the meal, Danielle did not provide any organization in table assignments going to the buffet making it disorderly and confusing on when the guests were supposed to go eat. During part of the reception she left to drop her son off at another location. Prior to this, her son had been sitting in the car throughout the ceremony and reception, completely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. During a discussion in which the bridesmaids were speaking about her failings, Danielle sent a Facebook message stating "You know I can hear you." instead of addressing her shortcomings with the party and discussing ways to provide a better service for the guests she chose to completely ignore the legitimate concerns being presented and attempt to intimidate them. I would not recommend Southern Charm Events Group to anyone, it was very clear that Danielle is not a professional event coordinator and had many oversights that a true professional would have anticipated and corrected. Luckily our beautiful bride and handsome groom made the best of every poor situation Southern Charm created and had a great celebration. read more

Hello, This review is past due, but quite necessary! Danielle was the wedding coordinator for my best friend's wedding and let me tell you.... she left a lot to be desired. From her haggard appearance during the ceremony, to her multiple logistical fails, she was not exemplary in her service on such a momentous occasion. She is also easily rattled, which we all know weddings can get hectic, but you sign up for that level of stress as a wedding coordinator. The rehearsal: Danielle was visibly stressed and as bridesmaids we wondered what her deal was and why she was struggling to keep it together. She kept referring to her helper, TJ the mythical being that we would know once we laid eyes on him, and this left us scratching our heads as well. Day of arrival at the venue: As we floated into the venue looking like beautiful melanated goddesses, Danielle was there in a t shirt, sweats, and sneakers. This in itself was not problematic due to her doing some last minute prep work outside the venue that required manual labor. I asked her would she be changing for the event and she indicated that she would..... BUT SHE DIDN'T. Here was the wedding coordinator in a tshirt and sweats during the actual ceremony. This became problematic when she couldn't come down the aisle to update the groom on an issue during the wedding so she had to send the photographer instead... the photographer was amazing btw. She was more of a coordinator than Danielle could've wished or hoped to be in that moment. Logistical fails: She let the ceremony start without the officiant being present. YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT! She didn't have enough presence of mind to call the officiant an hour before the ceremony to confirm her arrival at the right time. So there we were standing in front of guests and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, until we figured out what had happened. Instead of calling tables in order to get their dinner, she basically announced that the buffet was a free for all, which effectively stressed out guests and the food service staff. FAIL! Danielle left during cocktail hour to change clothes and drop off her minor child that had apparently been sitting in the car waiting on her for an extended period. WHO DOES THAT? Upon her return, her attire of zebra print lycra bell bottoms and a short sleeve black blazer was so hideous that the wedding guests started wondering who she was and why she looked the way she did. Branding 101: appearance matters. U think she missed the memo. Overall impression: STEER CLEAR! Also be warned that as a customer or potential customer of hers that she will more than likely speak negatively of you on social media. It's sad really. Self - reflect Danielle and perhaps you could be a dynamic business owner in the future. It's unfortunate that when u were needed most you couldn't rise to the occassion. read more

Did a great job helping with my best friend's wedding this past weekend. My friend was overwhelmed and reached out needing a planner, and SC came highly recommended from one of our church members. Needless to say, she helped and went above and beyond! The day went very smoothly and she had everything in order from start of day to end of night, even checking in with all of the us the next day and sending a thank you note. I know from my own wedding experience that hiring a day of coordinator is what you make of it, and they can't make your day great without your cooperation; however, Danielle went above and beyond and I will recommend her to anyone else needing any event services. read more
