The store manager, John, loves his job and that's so easily apparent. He loves spirits and has a truckload of knowledge, but also enjoys helping customers find what they want in store. He'll even order something for you that the store doesn't have if he can get it. The bourbon and vodka inventories are impressive, and there's tons of all the other stuff too. The store is very, very well organized and is quite easy to navigate on your own. No pressure while browsing here at all. John runs free tastings here quite frequently (we sampled 4 Bulleit whiskey products on our 1st visit) and he has some really great deals going too! Prices are way better than most ABC stores, though they carry lots of high end goodies as well. I'd say their prices are quite comparable to the big box stores and you'll find John and his staff to be down to earth, knowledgeable, and kind. They won't push you into buying anything at all and will certainly give good recommendations. Without a doubt, the customer service provided here gives you the small town country store feel, with employees actually having conversations with you, as opposed to the big box stores or super busy places where you're just another nameless walk-in off the street. This is one of only 4 Food Lion liquor stores in all of South Carolina and we think it's a gem; enough so that we will drive 40 minutes from the heart of Myrtle Beach to frequent. I'm betting if you stop here just once, you'll likely revisit again. They also have bathrooms...if you need one and they are closed Sunday of course, but open 9 to 7 Monday through Saturday. Tons of free parking out front or along the side.

Clean grocery store! Plenty of parking. Produce is always fresh and employees friendly.read more

The second visit, however, came with a greeting I've never heard in my fifty‑plus years: "You've been out all day. I can't serve you because I'll be liable if you're over served." I've bartended before. I understand the responsibility. But I was never asked a single question about what I'd actually been doing. For clarity: we had lunch at Michael's Seafood before our first visit. I had one non‑alcoholic seltzer at Island Beverage, and my partner had a four‑flight sampler. After that, we went thrifting and shopping at Goodwill, Lowe's Foods, and Dollar Tree. No drinking. No bar‑hopping. Nothing even close. On our second visit, Geneva gave us water and let us charge a phone -- and I do appreciate that. But being told "you've been out all day" instead of "welcome back" was unnecessary, inaccurate, and frankly insulting. It was an assumption presented as fact, and it was embarrassing. What made it even more absurd was watching Geneva continue to serve patrons who were clearly intoxicated while I sat there with a glass of water. So here's the takeaway: Don't go in twice in one day. Apparently that alone is enough to get treated like you've been drinking all over town. After this experience, I won't be going in on any day. I hope the staff can handle situations like this with actual communication instead of jumping straight to conclusions.

They had a more than ample selection of local brews on tap, and all that we sampled were delish. They had a huge selection of wine and even served wine by the glass. There were a ton of games to play while you sip, which will be on our agenda next time. The bartender couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming to 2 non-locals! Next time we are bringing the rest of the crew!
