BLT on sourdough, bacon(perfect portion) two slices of perfectly ripe tomatoes, lettuce and mayo! The bread was lightly grilled and the sandwich was amazing! The Pastrominator, pastrami, pickled onions, slaw, and mustard in a chibatta roll. My husband's comment, "this is one of the best sandwiches in my life" The place is great, simple screened in porch or outdoor tables plus fresh in season fruit and vegetables and Italian food. They have wines, pasta, sauces, olive oils, breads, international cheese, meats, seafood, etc. Their take and bake crab cakes are fantastic and be sure to check out their farm fresh produce, and groceries from the everyday to the gourmet. Their Deli and Sandwich Shop features a weekly LINE UP of daily sandwich specialties that are must try when you are there. Eat in or take out options are available. There is plenty of parking and the staff is friendly and helpful. Disappointing stop when leaving Surfside back to Charleston. Yes it was morning but not at opening for a tomato pie that they do so well. Did not see any, so I asked a guy putting produce out and was told if they had any they would be in cooler, and it was empty. I stood by the meat counter with at least 3 employees there and no one even looked at me much less asked if I needed help. Absolutely loved this place!! On the way back from a day trip this was noted as some thing we definitely wanted to check out. After looking at Yelp for several options I had settled on this being a crowdpleaser. From the outside it looks a little bit like a ramshackle spot but it has amazing tasty delights on the inside! There are two entrances one for the general store and one for a place to pick up sandwiches and lunch items. They have a screened in porch where you can eat your lunch or a few tables inside. We first tried the general store which was filled to the brim with imported items from various European countries. They had pastas from Italy lots of various cheeses. sauces and other delectable items. They had a whole section for jams and jellies as well as local honey. Wherever I went I wanted to pick up multiple items but settled on a few must haves. They also have a counter where you can purchase ready-made items like lasagna and other yummy dishes. The portion sizes are also gigantic so keep that in mind when looking at what you order! My mom purchased some lasagna to take back with her for another meal and probably eat it three times! She said it was delicious! This spot has a otherworldly feel and brings you back into time or transports you to a European local corner shop. They had plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables as well for purchase but we were more drawn by some of the hard to find pesto's and European treats. We stopped for sandwiches in the deli before leaving and sat on the porch to enjoy them. The bread was amazing and melt in your mouth and the sandwiches were jampacked with veggies and for the other meats. Very good balance of flavors with salty and crunchy, as well as great spreads to keep them moist. Yum! Highly recommend stopping in for items as well as lunch or a to-go for later. Stopped in today for a sandwich and tomato pie and picked up a slice of cheesecake for dessert. The tomato pie and italian sandwich were great, but the cheesecake was very strange. It had a granular, chalky texture with a stale, thin crust. It went in the trash sadly. Will keep going for other items, though. read more

We stopped on our back from the beach. What an amazing collection of items! Pierogi in every flavor you can imagine, huge assortment of cheeses and sausage. I bought a few items like one tomato because they really looked ripe red home grown hard to find in SC. A pint of blueberries at 4.99 price not bad but the strawberries wow! 12.99 i couldn't not believe I could not figure out why my bill was a little steep. A fantastic find in Murrells Inlet. Don't be fooled by the name because it's an Italian store with fresh fruit and vegetables. We ate at their cafe and had the best pastrami and Italian sandwiches. It was true New York food!Ended up going back the next day on our way home and brought sausages, pastrami and Italian food to take home. Rustic and very New Yorkish in feel. They have a good assortment of fresh vegetables and fruit - and anything Italian you can almost conjure up but also local SC rice in a real rice bag not plastic and cornmeal even blue stone grits. Fresh tomato pies greet you as you enter and fresh croissant looking sweets - I bought local honey with the honeycomb in it as well. We also purchased fresh mushrooms n 2 huge bunches of collards. This is a little hidden gem we finally decided to try on our last visit to Garden City. They have a wonderful selection of fresh produce, meats and seafood. Oh my god, this place has got to be one of my favorites in all of Murrells Inlet. It can be a little confusing and intimidating to navigate at first, but everyone was so nice and helpful. The food was *amazing* especially for the price! Glass bottled sodas are are nice touch, and it definitely gives a New York Deli vibe. Heading into the market area it's HUGE with an even bigger arrangement of stuff from fresh meat and produce to specialty items to imported goods. Definitely worth the trip if you're anywhere near Murrells Inlet. read more
