As soon as you walk in you know this is not a typical Mexican restaurant. It's very beautiful inside and more upscale than usual. Our waitress, Allison, was attentive and helpful. Checked on us often but not hovering! We started with free chips and salsa, very good salsa with a tiny kick. Next we ordered mango margaritas and table side guac. The margaritas are definitely made from scratch, very good mango flavor but get an extra shot if you want to taste liquor. The guacamole was delicious with nice lime flavor. I was disappointed that they had no enchiladas on the menu so I ordered the Molcajete. It's definitely large for one person so plan on bringing home a bag! The food was delicious. The only con was that the meats were not sliced all the way so you had to pull out a chunk to slice. I also feel the steak was a little tough to chew. The pineapple slices were unexpected but delicious. The food came out hot which was great. The chicken fajitas and the steak fajitas were also very good. If you order it with cheese, it's going to be melted in and the pineapple is cut up and mixed in which was unexpected and was the only downside. Hubby liked the shrimp bowl. I've been here for happy hour a couple times now and both times its been relatively bustling. The food here is good and their happy hour pricing is very fair. 6 dollar coconut margs are nice and chips and chorizo queso for 6 bucks would be too, if you could get someone to bring you a chips refill. I subtracted two stars because on each of my trips here, the service has pretty much sucked. Both times our party was basically totally forgotten about...no refills on chips or waters and we had to go off elsewhere inside to flag someone down simply to get and then pay our bill. This place is awesome! They bring you as much chips and salsa as you'd like. Also offer table side guac which was amazing. I'm giving this 5-stars because the food is so great, it would be a disservice to dock them. I got the steak burrito and it was fantastic! The others I was with got the tacos, short rib and carne asade and theirs all looked great as well. The only room for improvement was the very slow service and how long it took to bring our food out. It was packed for Cinco De Mayo, so that's understandable but my burrito was ordered with no cheese dip on top and it still had it. Overall, this place is awesome!!! read more

My family and I went down to Myrtle beach in November of last year and we found this place on Yelp. It was our favorite place we went to! It was a really nice ambiance. This was probably my favorite spot we ate at this past summer on vacation. We found out it's owned by another restaurant we love, Drift, and we knew this was going to be a bomb meal too. The space was huge and very upscale for Mexican food which I appreciated. Service was also great and that was hard to come by on our entire vacation so props to them. The food was amazing. Every single thing I ate was delicious. The street corn and ACP were faves. We also tried two desserts and I still think about them to this day. Their cocktail menu was also great, I wanted every margarita but obviously that wasn't possible. Ambiance and service were both excellent. The restaurant was clean and not crowded at 3:45 PM. Three of us ordered from the lunch menu and one ordered the chicken chimichanga from the supper menu. The food presentation was excellent, but two of the meals (Mango salad with chicken and chimichanga with chicken) were only average due to either overcooked or just tough chicken. None of the deserts except flan are made in house. The restaurant was out of Tres Leche cake, but the butter cake with ice cream and caramel sauce was very flavorful. Cantina Imperfecto is a gem! The food , the drinks, the vibes.. all super perfecto! My husband and I frequently find ourselves there for date nights and always have a fantastic time. Drinks are the best in the area & the staff is very welcoming. We love to sit at the back bar when Dj is there but regardless it's enjoyable at any time/seat. Service was fine although we ordered an appetizer and 3 minutes later the entrees came out which is exactly what the waiter said would not happen. The carne asada French fries were outstanding, the steak was seasoned and cooked well and their queso is sinful. Quesabirria was not seasoned and the broth was flavorless. The chicken fajitas were a huge portion but again flavorless. Shrimp fajitas were again huge but flavorless. Full bar I would go back for those French fries. Everything else was a pass. read more

Grilled Grouper had chopped rather than the whole piece expected and did not have much flavor Quesabirria was disappointing - the tacos were so soft they fell apart and the consume was very bland. We really wanted to love Cantina Imperfecto because we love their sister restaurant Drift, but it left quite a bit to be desired. We started with drinks - the margaritas tasted artificial at best (we had coconut and watermelon mint), but the standout was the smoked tequila old fashioned. For an appetizer we ordered the dip trio - the hummus was phenomenal, the cheese dip was good & what we expected, but the "guacamole" dip was not good at all & looked like something you would get out of a squeeze tube. Now they do make actual tableside guacamole & that looked good - but do not expect that on the trio. For meals - we got birria tacos, the molcajete, steak fajitas and veggie fajitas. The birria tacos were delicious. The fajitas were huge portions & also very good. The molcajete was hard to eat because nothing was sliced through and they didn't bring a plate for it. As for atmosphere, it was fairly loud inside the restaurant and our server was very soft spoken so it was hard to hear him at times & he got a few of the drinks we ordered incorrect. I got the southwest salad with shrimp and my husband got the tampiquena which is a brunch item, I'm not joking when I say one of the best bites of steak I've ever had. The decor is beautiful - their designer did such a great job. And on balance, the food was tasty. The service, however, was disappointing and I was appalled at all the upcharges. Cheese on your fajitas? An extra two dollars. Ask for more than the skimpy three pickled red onions and four slices of pickled jalapeño on the carnitas? Yep! Another $2.50 in upcharges. So a total of $4.50 additional for basic requests that should in no way be an extra charge. I'm glad we ate here, but wouldn't return or recommend it based on how lax service was and the unpredictable nature of the bill. read more
