Very patient, very knowledgeable and saved my wife's vase from disaster (I got a bit over zealous on the blowing part). After we finished, they explained the cool down process (it takes about a week) and we scheduled our pickup time. The whole experience, for both of us, wasn't that expensive and we had a great time. The parish that the Centennial Barn is connected to is a small Catholic parish that really does try to help the needy while serving their congregation. They even take in older people who are not able to take care of themselves. The Centennial Barn is actually a ministry of the church, as it brings in money to help support the overall budget of the parish. However, you don't have to be a part of the church to rent it for a function or even a wedding. The inside of the barn is really cool! It has strung white lights all over the inside, as well as white trim and big red doors that give the barn a classy but country feel. There are bathrooms on the first floor, as well as the second. There are stairs to the second floor with several rooms off of the main level that provide spots to have people dancing or serve food. The backyard of the barn is open with some room outside to have a live band or even some dancing. There is a cemetery in the back of the property.... but it is not really that noticeable. It doesn't take away from the feel of the barn -- but it is something to note.

The band had to set up downstairs by the dance floor. The bar, drinks, and gift table were also situated on the lower level. The guests were located upstairs. A few of the tables were in a different room than the wedding party which is not ideal since those tables could not see the wedding party. The food was also served in a different room. I actually kind of liked being able to lean on the railing upstairs while gazing down on the band and the dance floor. So, I can't say I really had a problem with the setup but I could see where not everyone would choose this option. There was also a nice patio out back that many enjoyed. It was a nice night, it was a little quiter and easier to chat with people than it would have been if we had been confined indoors. The place was nice, the service was fine, but I was a little disappointed that because of the cleanup process many of the wedding party could not go out after the reception.

A significant portion of each lesson was spent with the instructor talking--often about himself--rather than focusing on active teaching. Furthermore, the approach to learning drum charts relied entirely on rote imitation; the instructor would simply have my son copy his movements. As a result, my son actually began losing his ability to read charts and became overly dependent on the instructor. He can now only play the specific songs he was told to copy from memory, rather than learning how to independently decipher drum sounds and learn songs on his own. I had hoped the program would focus on building true musical independence, not just mimic a teacher.

We chose CCAC for our wedding reception because it was in the same neighborhood as the church where…read morewe got married. When we started planning, Raine was the event coordinator. She was immediately buffaloed by straight-forward questions, and she just would not stay organized or save/file any documents we supplied at her request, so I ended up having to make a packet of all of her info so she could keep track better. I really felt like I was her secretary, but she was supposed to be working for us! A few weeks before the wedding she was letting us know when to have our vendors come drop off our orders, but she would change the timeframe day to day, which led to me having to keep updating our florist, caterer and table rental people. Working with her added so much work on my end since I had to keep updating the vendors on when they could come drop off our order when Raine shifted the timeline and then sending the same information over and over since Raine didn't save it the first time she requested it. Luckily for us, Raine was replaced by Liz about 2 weeks before the wedding, and our experience immediately improved! Liz seems to be someone who is on top of things and cares about her clients. Liz was great about anticipating our needs beyond what we had already considered. As far as the space itself, the CCAC ballroom is a little bare, but we were really happy with how it looked with our decorations. They have a great lighting system, so we were able to program the lights on different modes for dinner versus dancing. Our guests had the chance to go around to the art gallery and onto the roof where there are a few firepits, so it was excellent for our guests who weren't big dancers. I think having other spaces for everyone to go gave everyone the chance to stay through to the end of the night. I was really happy nobody left early! For the price (about $4500), I thought the plastic folding chairs that come with the rental were a little flimsy and uncomfortable, so I splurged on banquet chairs from an outside vendor. My main selling point with CCAC was that it was walkable from our church, so I really didn't consider anywhere else. If I had worked with Liz from the start, and if CCAC offered better chairs or a little lower price I think I would easily give CCAC 5*!

The teachers have devoted their time and talent to teach young children to love music. From classes ranging from two year olds to teens, Baldwin music offers programs for students of all ages and skill levels. Chartered in May of 1947 the club recently celebrated its 75th anniversary with a couple of speeches and a couple of evaluations (standard for each meeting) and then wrapped it up with cake and refreshments. This is a great group where you will have fun while gaining presentation and leadership skills. The pace is designed to meet your needs with plenty of productive guidance from the other members. I don't see why people wouldn't stay for the second show for a mere $5 more! I do like that there is small stadium seating and higher top chairs in back so you're not staring at heads. My main problem was the lights went out on me 3 times in the bathroom. I walked in after someone, went to unzip, and suddenly darkness. I used my flash light on my phone to try finding a switch and tried pulling on a light string but that wasn't correct. It came back but still went off 2 more times in my should-have-been-a-minute-tinkle. Also, it would be cool if they served alcohol, even if limited, but I did like the prices of soft drinks. I feel like everyone overprices but they do not. Highly recommend for a cheap date night for laughter. Plus there's tons to do in the area before.

What a wonderful two weeks of live theater and art, a celebration of spontaneity and universality. Every year, the Know Theatre reviews dozens of applications for the best plays and art displays to feature in these two weeks - what results is a mix of home grown talent and award winning Fringe plays from across the country, even some from other countries. The plays last an hour but every one I've seen almost leaves you asking for more. I also wanted to give a big shout out to the community that participates in this festival. It is a broad age range and a diverse group of people, but all are affected equally by the high energy one gets from performing and seeing such original works of art. The shows are well run by volunteers, staff, and interns, and they take place in OTR, all in walking distance of the Know Theatre. After the last show of the night concludes, the Know Theatre hosts the Know Underground parties and events in the downstairs lobby and theater. This includes variety shows and interviews with the performers and directors of the plays as well as live music. I look forward to Fringe every year.

2015 Review - from a chronic Fringer…read more I love the Fringe Festival here. Granted, I have never been to another Fringe, but from what I hear, the Fringieness of CincyFringe is set to stun. Seriously though, I have yet to find another group of eclectic, open minded and welcoming bunch like the folks who frequent CincyFringe. This is my second year attending the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. I went in 2014 and dreamed about going again soon. The line-up for this year, of song and dance, dance and theatre, shadow puppets and one-woman specktaculars is not to be missed. There is something for everyone! For those with younger or more delicate ears and sensibilities, be sure to pay attention to the rating systems for content. Otherwise, don't be afraid to pop into a show even unplanned! You never know what's in store once you enter the doors of a Fringe show. However, as time goes on during the festival, and carrier pigeons and instagrams alike spread the word, tickets are snatched up quickly! Be sure to book your own tickets in advance if you're dying to see that part comedy, part zombie, part musical performance. When you're done enjoying the show, be sure to head to the Know Theatre for the evening's Fringe Bar Series. Every night there is a new theme, like discounted drinks (yes, there is a full bar beneath the theatre!), Fringe-oke, and riding Segways. And hit up the food trucks posted outside the door, guaranteed to fill your stomach with tasty bites.
