I ordered some Hungarian wood cubes for flavoring on 5/12/2026. Since ordering I have emailed them and left a voicemail. Today is 6/3/2026 and not a peep from these thieves. To update, I received a TrueBrew Beer Kit (West Coast Red Ale) from Brewers Supply in West Warwick, RI when in fact I ordered a TrueBrew Beer Kit (German Light) from Southern Homebrew in Edgewater, Florida. Neither one of those Company's will answer their phone. Had repurchase everything I bought from another company and the product was not only FAR superior, but also, it came in three day. Has this business closed?? Placed an order almost 6/22/23. It is 8/10 & order status remains "Awaiting Fulfillment ". Called at the end of June & promised it will be shipped at the first of July. Sent e-mail, Instagram msg, 4 phone calls-all have gone unanswered. The phone mailbox is now full. They did promptly take process a payment before at the initial order request was fulfilled. I ordered multiple products on December 4, 2024, it is now Feb 9, 2025 and received like 1/8th of my order - they sent an automated email saying a partial package was on the way and what I received was not even the full shipment of the partial order. This place is amazing! When you pull into the parking lot you begin to wonder if you're in the right place because it's located in a warehouse industrial park which doesn't have all the outside commercial type advertising. But once you walk in the door you are happlily greeted with Southern Hospitality and you know your in the right place! When I walked into the main warehouse area I was amazed with all the vast number of products they have for making wine, beer, spirits, cider, seltzers and even organic coffee & teas! I was like a kid in a candy store! After a detailed overview with Stan I purchased a couple of wine kits and equipment to get started. I also learned that they will be offering free wine & beer tastings very soon, and able to sell by the glass and debuting new 100% fruit wines which I tried at their May 6th tasting event! read more

I have visited this store in the past and the prices and selection were good. I recently placed an online order and promptly received an acknowledgement but it was never shipped. Multiple e-mails went unanswered. I was able to leave a voice mail a few days ago but now the phone has been disconnected. From reading other reviews this is apparently how they operate. read more

First ordered from Southern Home Brew (SHB) in 2017. Best prices for wine and beer supplies. I've been brewing and making wine for 13 years and have shopped many places - never found a better price on anything they stock. Very friendly and professional staff. They initiated clear and timely communication when (twice) I purchased items that were back-ordered. When UPS lost a package last year, SHB quickly shipped me a replacement free of charge. I will continue to order from SHB every few months. read more

This guy is a real jerk. I was going to make a purchase from him but quickly realized I should take my business elsewhere. He sells a product on ebay for $94.95 which is a little high for this product, but with shipping included, it's a good deal. However, this ass clown charges 100% tax for California addresses... that's another $94.95. I though it had to be a mistake, so I contacted him about it. He then told me it is too cost prohibitive to ship to CA, and he said if I wanted to buy it, I should go to his website. First, this is prohibited by ebay's TOS as it circumnavigates their commission. So, ebay does his marketing, and he cuts them out. Not a big deal right? Well, besides being unethical, he is also a world class asshole. When I offered him a "food for thought" solution to accommodate selling his product on ebay by creating a special shipping rule for Ca buyers, where by he could charge THE SAME $111.45 he charges to ship to CA from his website... Here is his reply. "Food for thought.... We do not ship to western states through ebay as that's our policy. You're obviously not a rocket scientist because our margin would NOT be the same as there are ebay fees which we do not have to pay on our web site. Additionally there are higher paypal fees as well through ebay as opposed to our credit card processor. So, as you can see, you have it all wrong. Get the facts before telling us how to run our business much less how much it costs us to do business. Thank you and we'd appreciate it if you would just go away as we do not have the time to play games. Incredible." So $111.45 isn't enough? That's what you charge on your website! eBay takes fees? IF IT WASN'T FOR EBAY I WOULD NEVER HAVE FOUND YOU. Pay the commission, get the sale. -STILL NO GOOD? So add another $15 flat shipping rate to CA purchases to cover the 10% ebay fee. That would bring the total to $125.45. Which is WAAAAY less that TWICE the price you charge now, still covers the shipping, and even covers the ebay fees. DONE. What a HORRIBLE customer service experience and terrible business. He wants me to stay away? No problem. I went to another retailer's website and got the same product for $102.36 including shipping. WAAY cheaper, and WAAAAY better customer service. They even gave me a $5 coupon. **UPDATE** This is the second time I have posted this review. I was in the store to purchase grain in Oct '11, when I got to the counter I notice grain weevils in the flaked wheat. When I told them I did not want the grain, they said there are bugs in all grain and would not take it back. I then wrote a criticism inline of this. Two days ago my wife went to the store to get some DME and bottle caps and they refuse to sell anything to her because it was for me. They said they would never sell to me again. I talked to the guys at the Fermented Brew Shop in Sanford and they were super nice. I'll be going there from now on. read more

They have moved to Canal St? west of rte. ! I visited around Christmas while on vacation. They do have a fairly good stock. But there were moths in most of the grain bins. I bought 5 one pound bags, but put them in the microwave to kill any bugs later that day.. They have a very strange way of selling the malt grains. They give you a Ziplock bag a Sharpie and a scale on a cart. They then want you to measure out exactly 1 pound. I misunderstood and came close??? I figured they would re-weigh the package and apply the price per pound.... This isn't the most friendly or most competent company in the world. They do have good prices on their products though. Whether or not you receive the product is another story. You won't receive a tracking # or a shipping confirmation either. It will just show up at your door one day - if you're lucky. I called them once about an order ( after 2 weeks ). The guy I spoke with was very unfriendly. You may save a few bucks by ordering with them, but the savings aren't worth the headache - IMO. read more

I went to this business to get supplies for making mead (honey wine), there were three employees in the store, all behind the counter. I was the only customer in the whole place and asked were the energizer and nutrient were... instead of coming over he just points and tells me. I mill around, and still didn't see it, my friend found it for me... Then when the guy does come out he looks down at the stuff I have gathered, and tells me, "that what I have is going to make a really light mead and I'm not going to be happy with it, that I need to get a champagne yeast." I hold it up for him thinking he doesn't see it well, and say this one? he says yes, that I need a brewing yeast they sell by the pound. I told him that the yeasts that I have are good, (not to mention they are champagne yeasts) and that i'm not a newbie, he counters with his are good and he's been doing it for 50 years. I then ask him why his yeasts are not refrigerated, he says they don't have to be (however, in other good stores, they have been!) I say oh, how come on your display boxes it says keep refrigerated?! (But, again, I guss he knows more). I can't believe a store like this is still around. If I didn't have my heart set on making mead this afternoon, I would have put everything back and gone elsewhere. I ended up getting what I came for, but was so chapped by the very bad attitude and horrible customer service! I will go somewhere else for my next batch, in 30 days. I wish I would have read all the other bad reviews before I made the hour and a half trip up to the store. I originally ordered 2 wine kits online from Southern Homebrew, and when I ran out, I decided to drive up there to save on shipping costs. I immediately noticed that their wine kits were around 15% - 20% more expensive in their store. When I asked someone behind the counter if they would price match their website, they rudely responded "no." They said prices were lower online to help with the cost of shipping. Needless to say, they have lost my business forever. I found a great local place in Melbourne and I'll never drive up to Southern Homebrew again. read more

I had a very positive experience at this store. They are no longer on Dixie Fwy, they are now on Canal St. The new owners are a wife and husband team. The wife was on duty when I visited. I wasn't ready to make a purchase. I was just looking for information and advice about how to proceed and to see what wine supplies I would need and what was available at this store. She was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly and provided top notch customer service. They have an extensive inventory and wide range of everything a novice or experienced winemaker would need. The prices are very reasonable. When I'm ready to buy my supplies this is where I will go. I see negative reviews here but it seems they were written when the store had a different owner at the old location. For example it is no longer necessary for the customer to weigh out their own grains for beer making - everything is already packaged and weighed accurately, clean with no bugs in the bag. If you weren't happy with the products and service you received back then, give the store another try. Perhaps those old reviews from previous ownership will be removed. If not, I'd suggest you ignore them. This is now a store with the highest regard for great customer service. read more

Owner is a very rude, angry man who seems to have contempt for anyone who has a problem. I've been in the store several times when he was there cussing loudly at someone on the phone while his employees looked on embarrassed and apologetic. I saw him cuss out a customer but not sure over what, but the customer stormed out, and once heard him saying really nasty things about someone he had a problem with. Fortunately I have never had an issue while there, and the other staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, but they do talk about him behind his back. I avoid this place now and just buy elsewhere online mostly since there are no other homebrew stores in the Daytona area. read more

SUBSTANTIVE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE: I placed an order with Southern homebrew, I received an order confirmation just after order was placed online on May 30th. On June 10th after not receiving a shipping confirmation for my order I sent an email. The next day I got a reply telling me the wine kit was on backorder and they were waiting on an ETA for it. On June 24 two weeks later, I had to send another email to get an update on my wine kit. The next day I got a reply that their shipment would be in the next day and they should be able to ship my kit out on Friday the 27th. When I still had not gotten a wine shipping confirmation by July 2nd. I again had to ask where my order was. The reply was that they did not get it in and were not sure when they were going to get it. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS WHY THEY CAN'T BE MORE PROACTIVE IN CONTACTING THEIR CUSTOMERS WHEN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS ARISE, WHY DO I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY ASK WHERE MY ORDER IS???
