I'm writing this review to warn other guests, particularly African American families, about the…read moretreatment we received at this hotel during our stay from Thursday, November 14th to Sunday, November 16th, 2025. The Good: The housekeeping staff was excellent. The assistant manager and the woman who checked us in on Thursday evening were professional, courteous, and immediately began working to resolve a significant billing error where my card was overcharged multiple times (prompting my bank's fraud department to call me). They assured me the issue would be fully resolved at checkout. The Unacceptable: On Friday night, a staff member (an older white woman) made racist comments about my brother-in-law, calling him "intimidating" and "scary" while he was simply having a normal conversation with his mother in the lobby. Her reasoning? She didn't like their "tone of voice," despite no argument or raised voices occurring. On Sunday at checkout, while confirming the refund status, ANOTHER racist employee--who apparently has worked there for 10 years--became aggressive, yelled at me, and threatened me. She then locked herself in the office and called the police on me rather than calling the manager for assistance. A maintenance worker had to contact the manager instead to help deescalate her rage when I asked her to please call someone to get some help or explain to her what I was saying. Before locking herself in the office to call the police on me instead of her manager, she oddly mentioned her brother was a bank manager, as if that somehow meant she couldn't make mistakes or did not need help with this particular issue. She did not seem to understand the term "reconciliation" as it applies to billing. When the manager finally called her, she stormed out of the office and violently shoved the phone in my face, which was genuinely frightening. The manager confirmed the billing error and processed the refund before I left. I told him that the police were currently in the parking lot and I can only assume that they came so quickly because she lied about what was really happening. I requested to speak with him again about the staff member's behavior, but have been unable to reach him since. Bottom Line: THIS IS DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR AND HIGHLY DISTURBING. I have never been treated so poorly in any hospitality setting, and I have never had the police called on me. The racist treatment we received from staff members on Friday and Sunday was traumatizing and completely unacceptable. While some staff members were wonderful, I WILL NOT recommend this hotel due to the presence of employees who should not be working in customer service nor with the general public at all. To the excellent housekeeping staff and assistant manager: I'm sorry you work alongside people who bring such disgrace to your profession. I strongly advise everyone, but especially African American families to avoid this establishment. I am working to reach out to their corporate office for further resolution as this cannot stand. UPDATE: Clld twice, left messages with "Amanda", either she does not pass on the messages, or Mr. Patel is refusing to call me back. Leaving reviews on Yelp to add to my social media posts and I am going to reach out to corporate so that they are aware of how their franchise is operating. I will also continue to post until Mr Patel and I have resolved my concerns about the safety of all guests no matter who they are or what they look like.

There are no table games here, and drink service is strictly automated via a button on the machines. On the positive side, the facility was very clean, and the staff we did encounter were friendly--though we rarely saw them. For dining, they have a food court setup for $20 a person that includes Italian, Asian, and American options with a fountain drink counter. A heads-up if you go on a "Senior Sunday" (ages 50+): the announcer was incredibly loud. Overall, it was nothing spectacular. Out of the three of us, only one friend walked away a winner, and even then, it was pretty minor.

Most recent visit was to celebrate my birthday (2025). This was a girl's weekend with my mom. We shared the double queen with a fridge and nice seating area. A nice surprise when entering were the balloons and card by the staff along with my gifts from my mom. The bed was nice and soft and the bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. Once settled in, we went down to enjoy the food at the Market that has several food stations that is sure to satisfy your tastebuds and while not one to hit the machines heavily, I did take advantage of the free play. I plan to visit agin and maybe check out the movie theater, bowling alley or enjoy some time at the spa.

The hotel stay was great and I have stayed here every time I came back home for an event. However,…read moretoday 10/7/23, the service at breakfast was horrible. I found hair in my food and the food attendant refused to keep the food items stocked. At 859 AM there were no more grits, eggs, and sausage and she said that she wasn't making any more because breakfast was too close to being over. Mind you that breakfast ends at 1000. 12 people came after I sat down and they had even less to eat. I am not asking that Hampton Inn Jackson waste money with having to throw away food, but at least serve until 15-30 minutes prior to the posted closing time. The check was Excellent The room was Excellent The food service Horrible I wanted it to be 1 star but that's not fair to the people who work there that represent Hampton Inn

Love the way the room was staged. The Christmas decorations throughout the hotel were beautiful and tasteful. As we drive away, I wish we had taken photos to share. Breakfast was well presented, as full as I have ever seen at a Hampton Inn. The dining area was tidy, and everything I had was the right temperature. There were plenty of other guests, but the Breakfast attendant was doing a wonderful job. Portia, the front desk manager, was friendly, professional, and seemed to truly enjoy speaking with me and others in line. A smile goes a long way. When I bragged on the lovely Christmas decor, Portia let me know that she had decorated the hotel on her own. What a treasure! Between her professional manner and warm attitude and doing such a great job of decorating, I really wanted to say "woman, what are you doing here?!" Great stay. Thank you, Hampton Inn of Jackson, Alabama.

It was the only hotel that was available in the area that looked decent enough for us to stay , as we usually stay at the Holiday Inn in Selma . Also , the hotel description said that it was in the Edmund Pettus bridge area AND IT WASNT . Mattresses were dirty ; I even captured something crawling inside the comforter . Bathroom wasn't clean , corners were very dirty . Bed decor sheet was dirty as well . Table , nightstand , & tv stand were all peeling . I killed 2 roaches on the nightstand . Hair dryer was filthy . Carpet just pure dirty ! I had to buy cleaning supplies just so it could feel halfway clean to us . Major renovations needed ...NEVER AGAIN !!!

The first thing you will notice is that it looks a little different from most Quality Inns (and trust me, as a Diamond Elite member, I've seen a LOT of them). If it looks familiar, it's because it used to be a Jameson Inn. Lovely exterior, though some better landscaping would be nice. It's winter though, so there may be more flowers at other times of the year. But what you really want out of a hotel is a clean bed, right? This hotel returns to the Quality Inn standards, presenting a comfortable mattress, clean white sheets, fluffy pillows, a down comforter, and a gold bed scarf. There was also a table but no desk, and your choice of a straight backed chair or an office chair. The vanity was really nice -- long counter and sink area and bright lights above the mirror. Fridge and microwave worked well. I didn't use the coffeemaker as I bring my own. The iron was missing, but I didn't care. Lights and locks worked fine. Electrical outlets, like in most hotels, were a bit sparse, and I ended up using the extension cord I always carry. Wifi Internet worked well, even though I was far from the main office. I was in building three, and it was quiet, clean, well-lit, and felt safe. There was also a small area of grass for pets -- this hotel does allow dogs for an additional per night charge. I did not eat breakfast here and doubt I will. Quality Inns are not known for great breakfasts. There are plenty of fast food places nearby as its on the main drag through town. There is a Walgreens and Sonic very close, and Walmart is about a half a mile away on the same road. After so many bad stays recently, I was almost ready to leave the Choice Hotels chain. This hotel changed my mind. Solid five stars. I'll be back soon.
