I have always wanted to attend the cooking class at the casino. A group of 16 senior travelers were instructed on grilling steak and shrimp on a salt block. How interesting and tasty. The salt blocks were heating on the gas stoves when we entered the class- 20 minutes on low and another 20 on medium before placing our salt and peppered steak and generously oiled with a combination of olive and canola oil. After steaks were done we grilled shrimp on the salt block. The group cut up assorted veggies and sautéed on the stove and placed a pan of fingerling potatoes in the oven to roast. We plated our food and returned to the classroom to eat lunch together. Our meal was completed with a delicious brownie sundae. Hoping to return again and join another class!

Outstanding Recognition for Kaycee S. at Wind Creek Wetumpka…read more I absolutely have to take the time to recognize Kaycee S., the bathroom attendant at Wind Creek Wetumpka, because she truly made an impression on me during my visit. First, the job she was doing deserves recognition all by itself. I witnessed the amount of work she was putting into keeping the front entrance restroom clean, tidy, and sanitary. Unfortunately, some adults were coming into the restroom and leaving behind unbelievable messes, including toilets that had not been flushed, feces that needed to be cleaned, and even soiled adult diapers. These are things nobody really thinks about when they walk into a clean public restroom, but somebody has to clean it up. Kaycee was that somebody, and she handled it with such professionalism and grace. What impressed me even more was her beautiful spirit while doing it. Despite having such an unpleasant and demanding job to handle at that moment, she was still smiling, sociable, friendly, and welcoming. She never allowed what she was cleaning up to change the way she interacted with the guests around her. She even looked out for my belongings for me, which I greatly appreciated. She was attentive, kind, and genuinely pleasant to talk to. You can tell when someone is simply being polite because it is their job, and you can also tell when someone genuinely has a good spirit. Kaycee has that kind of spirit. I love when I run across people like her because you don't encounter that type of energy every day. Some people have a natural ability to make an environment feel brighter just by being themselves, and Kaycee definitely lights up a room. Her smile, personality, kindness, and willingness to help stood out just as much as how hard she was working. It would have been very easy for someone dealing with those kinds of restroom conditions to become frustrated or unpleasant, but that wasn't what I saw from Kaycee. I saw someone taking pride in her work while still treating the people around her with kindness and respect. Wind Creek Wetumpka, you have an exceptional employee in Kaycee S., and I sincerely hope management recognizes her. The employees doing the difficult jobs behind the scenes are sometimes the easiest to overlook, but they are also a major reason guests are able to enjoy a clean and comfortable environment. Kaycee, your hard work did not go unnoticed. More importantly, your beautiful spirit did not go unnoticed either. Thank you for your kindness, your smile, your conversation, for looking out for my belongings, and for taking such pride in what you do. Keep being exactly who you are because you truly light up a room! You are appreciated!

My uncle and I have been making a two-hour trip to Wind Creek locations in Alabama for months, and what we've experienced is beyond frustrating--it's a consistent pattern that feels completely stacked against players. When you factor in the time, fuel, and money just to get there, the experience is flat-out unacceptable. The payouts are consistently terrible. Not just "we had a bad night"--I'm talking about repeated trips, across weekdays and weekends, where machines barely hit at all. You can walk the entire floor and see the same thing: people visibly frustrated, hardly anyone winning, and machines that feel like they're designed to take and never give back. Out of all the times we've gone, there was only one stretch--around February--that the machines seemed to pay anything back. Every other visit has followed the same pattern of extremely low or nonexistent payouts. Here's the bigger issue that people need to understand: Alabama does NOT have traditional casino regulation or oversight like other states. These aren't fully regulated gaming environments with enforced payout standards and transparency. That lack of accountability shows, and it's the players who pay the price. If you're already driving any significant distance, do yourself a favor and go to another state where casinos are actually regulated, audited, and required to meet fair payout standards. At least there, you know there's some level of oversight protecting the customer. Bottom line: save your time, save your money, and avoid Wind Creek casinos in Alabama altogether. There are far better--and far more transparent--options elsewhere.

Like most folks, I wasn't going to complain about my stay at the Atmore, AL Fairfield by Marriott,…read morebut after tonight's interaction with their staff, I changed my mind. I had requested that the room not be cleaned. So, as I'm staying 3 nights, I needed some replenished supplies. I inquired at the front counter (about 10 minutes ago). And apparently there are no more facial tissues boxes available because "We don't do preps until Monday." What is that all about? Is it that there really are no more facial tissues available in this building, or is it just laziness? I guess I'll need to drive to Walmart and buy some facial tissues. Additional issues below (see pictures for references to these issues) 1. Room 417 is in general disrepair and lack of proper maintenance. 2. The drawer that won't stay closed is a safety risk for guests. 3. I fixed the shower door that was off the track, but the other door has difficulty moving. 4. Why are all of the metal lamps rusting or is that dirt/grime, I don't know because I'm afraid to touch any of them. 5. The room is not clean. 6. Other than the small trash can in the bathroom there is no other trash can in the room. As there is no restaurant in this hotel, having to fetch food and bring it back creates a lot of trash. 7. The air conditioner is VERY loud. You have to turn the TV up really high to be able to hear the TV sound over the VERY loud air conditioner. I stay at this location about once a year when I'm in town to visit my parents. I don't know what Marriott's standards are, except for what I see when I'm in this room. Unfortunately, I cannot leave since my stay was not refundable.

The rooms were comfortable. Many of them have private balconies with chairs and a table to start and/or finish your day. Sadly, you may also find it necessary to sit on the patio to make phone calls because cell phone service inside the rooms was horrific. At least it was bad in the Spa building. Really bad. I did not get to play golf or go to the spa. All in all, I really enjoyed my stay here. I was here on business but would like to return for pleasure and enjoy more of the amenities. Enjoy your stay.

Hubs and I are not complicated people (yeah, right!) I am a Southerner, so I think I've known about The Grand Hotel for a long time. I wanted to stay here for a quick escape from my (albeit wonderful) everyday. I was pretty picky in room selection ~ I wanted a balcony with relaxing chairs (nope ~ not a high top) and a view of water. Our second floor room in the Spa Building delivered perfectly. The Grand has an app listing all the things it offers ~ I can't list them all here. Still the lawn games (bocce, corn hole, ping pong, mini golf) and bicycles merit mention! Don't miss the 3:45 pm history of the hotel and cannon firing! It's expensive to stay here, but it is fun. The grounds do not disappoint ~ the staff miss no detail in keeping this property in top form. Our room was nice ~ but my theory of hotels is that no matter how luxurious the lobby, the rooms are basically the same. Our room is beautifully decorated (calming colors!) and has all the requirements! We so loved our stay!!
