I ordered 2 eclairs and the lady behind the counter asked me what kind of filling I wanted, so I replied Bavarian cream. I didn't know they're are different types of filling for eclairs because there isn't. Eclairs are Bavarian cream. The Bavarian cream tasted like it was watered down. On a side note someone came into the store just as I made it to the counter, in my book I was next in line, but the lady behind the counter bypassed me and went straight to the new guy who just walked in to take care of his order before mine. They already had me feeling like they didn't want my business. No worries, lots of donut shops around that have eclairs they know what they're doing. read more

YAY! A cute and small little donut shop right down the street from where we live! Like we could literally walk there. The little couple that works there is so sweet and friendly. The shop is cute and looks like your typical donut shop. The blueberry donuts are a MUST. I'm also a big fan of their sprinkle donut. I was a little bummed as the selection was limited when I went in the store. Some lady had just left though with about 10 boxes of donuts so we got stuck with the leftovers - NOT complaining. If she left us the "bad" donuts, I cannot wait to try the rest of them. Looks like they have a pretty decent selection when they have donuts. We will be back. I have been going to Southern Maid Donuts for over 10 years and let me tell ya, they are my favorite donut shop in all of Flower Mound! They are conveniently located on Flower Mound Road, across from the Neighborhood Walmart. They parking lot is relatively easy to park in; they have spots in both the front and back. When you walk in, the staff is sometimes busy but they work hard and are overall friendly. Sometimes they wear masks, but sometimes they don't. They have plenty of donut options: maple, strawberry, eclairs, filled donuts, and so much more. They can fill many of their donuts with white cream, yellow cream, abs jelly filling. My favorite item on the menu is the sausage rolls. They have regular ones and spicy ones with jalapeños. You have the option to have your rolls warmed up or at room temperature. The prices are average and the quality of food is great! Give Southern Maid a try if you haven't already! read more

Fresh fresh fresh! Got a cinnamon roll off the rack and it was still warm with that "just fried" softness inside. So good. Have to try a filled donut. They fill them as you order with what you want inside. Choice of six or so fillings. Wonderful and again, fresh. Individual donuts are $1.10 but I paid less than $10 for a mixed dozen plus my cinnamon ( or sin o man as i think of it) roll. I consider that a bargain, especially when they sprinkle a few donut holes on top gratis. Highly recommended. read more

Support local family businesses. This is a great spot worth every star. It doesnt blow you out of the water with anything, but they make some solid donuts. My favorite being the chocolate glazed covered in crushed peanuts on top. The donuts are not too cakey or airy, they have a solid texture and do not feel too filling after eating it (makes you feel less guilty eating a donut). Love this place. My favorite are the glazed donuts dipped in cherry icing!!!! It is a sugar overload but it is sssoooo gooood!!! They always have what you want and if they are out they will make something right away that is close. That to me is the sight of a great business. This place is right down the street from my parents house so my mom picks up breakfast from here on weekends! I'm not a huge donut fan, but they have amazing pigs in a blanket! I can eat 10 of those! Great donuts. They make fresh throughout the day. Notice Dunkin' Donuts which opened recently. Did side by side comparison and it wasn't even close. Southern Maid donuts were softer and had chewy texture. Dunkin' Donuts were heavier and chalky texture more like cupcakes. I've been coming to this particular shop for years, as it was always on my way to school and I walked. I would frequently stop by for breakfast in the morning, sometimes weeks in a row at a time. The owner came to recognize me as I came in almost every morning during a time period and order some Jumbo Sausage Rolls, which I couldn't get in very many places around me. Their donuts were always good too, but I could never eat more than 3 at a time because I don't really have a sweet tooth. Even so, I've never had an off day with their products, and those Sausage Rolls still never fail to disappoint. They used to always give you a few donut holes gratis with your order too! Because I came so often, a few times I've even gotten a baker's dozen+1! That's being generous! Unfortunately, I moved away to college and now don't visit them as often.
