    Labcorp - Blown vein

This was my first time at Labcorp. I usually use Quest but this lab order was for my dad whose…read morephysician uses Labcorp. The office is seriously dated. The waiting room is tiny and feels super old-fashioned. The bays inside where you get the actual bloodwork are just three areas of one room partitioned by two curtains. It's pretty cramped. In this day and age, it's weird to get your blood drawn in such run-down conditions. Still, I won't dock any stars because the most important thing is quality of care -- and for whatever deficiencies the premises may have (and there are a LOT, including what I have already described, but also a very wheelchair-unfriendly entrance), at least the quality of care is superb. I was honestly having a lot of trouble wheeling my dad inside. Not only did one of the other patients in the waiting room get up to help, but two staffers came out as well. Everyone was so kind. The tiny waiting room was packed. I'm shocked that me and our professional caregiver were able to find seats together along with a space to park my dad in his wheelchair. Check-in was a breeze. The two kiosks at the front of the waiting room may be the only objects identifying that we are in the year 2025! LOL! After using the kiosk, you wait until your name is called to the front desk. Make sure you have your lab order ready to hand to them because that's pretty much all they need to finish your check-in. (A thorough lab order will have all your contact info, DOB, as well as all your insurance info.) The phlebotomist was young but very kind. My dad is 73 so finding a vein took a while. The phlebotomist was very patient. When she needed help, she didn't hesitate to ask one of her colleagues, who appeared to be in a supervisory role. I didn't get their names. But I'll always remember their kindness. Although lab work and blood draws like this are fairly simple and quick procedures, I appreciate the wonderful bedside manner of everyone involved from start to finish, from check-in to the moment when we apply pressure to the cotton ball at the injection site. A consistent bedside manner across all aspects of healthcare is important and everyone deserves it, but I must say that it is especially important for elderly patients like my dad who can become easily agitated. My dad was super chill the entire time and a large part of that is because of the calm, professional staff. But yeah, the premises are kinda ick. Sanitary and clean, yes. But quite drab and dreary. Lol.

I also had to go to urgent care and to the ER to evaluate a blood clot caused by the blown vein. Part of the visit included recording my height and weight. The technician wrote that I was 3'5 inches tall. I'm 5'6 and this caused my insurance to question my bmi and recommend all kinds of unnecessary services. I asked to have my records corrected but Labcorp has not fixed them.

Why would anyone go anywhere else?…read more I am extremely claustrophobic and the staff was wonderful and comforting. Thank you!

Unfortunately, Washington MRI didn't abide by the COVID banner displayed before writing this…read morerating. Let me be perfectly honest when I made my appointment I thought It was with another MRI center in the Clinton area. I guess it could happen having two MRI centers less than 200 meters in distance on the same street. What's the old cliche' first impressions are the correct impression. First, I had trouble locating the office; which I should have taken as a good omen and missed my appointment. However, needing a MRI and crunch for time I continued my search. One would assume COVID guidelines would be in place when they enter a medical facility. Not at Washington MRI. I entered the lobby and was greeted by a receptionist who was more concerned about my insurance than anything else. You would assume an establishment with military decor would be use to retired veteran's insurance preferences. Anyway, no temperature check or COVID checklist. Not to be judgmental but the facility wasn't up to my standards. The waiting room seats weren't very clean and it looked more like it was under construction. The pictures on the website were nothing like the facility or equipment I used. The bathroom were filthy. I used a paper towel to open the door. The technician was professional and I could tell he was working with the hand he was being dealt. I know for a fact I'll never use this business again and I would strongly recommend whomever reads this do the same. Bottom line COVID should b taken serious; Washington MRI must not have gotten the memorandum from the CDC. And beyond patient care cleanliness should be a priority in a medical facility. If I were rating the technician I'd rated Washington MRI higher. In fact, he's the reason Washington MRI was able to obtain one star. Again, same your insurance the money and find another MRI center.

The front office could use some sensitivity training and have more compassion regarding the patient's needs when trying to just get a copy of the results since there seems to be a communication between them and my primary's office. The ladies in the back very pleasant but that front office and Glenda that tries????? to assist is NOT the answer.
