Our student group for this CPR and First Aid course was composed of people from many professions and of different age groups. Jonathan did a great job of not only updating all of us on the latest changes and techniques in CPR and First Aid, but also in providing examples from his personal real-life experience. This perspective was invaluable because it explains the "Why" of what is involved in performing CPR, and also what is really important to the bystander who may find himself/herself in a situation requiring timely, critical action to help save a life. Jonathan is knowledgeable and a very effective instructor. For us he taught both a group of Girl Scouts (tweens and young teens) and adult leaders. He ably tailored his approach to the audience, responding to what they knew or what they did not and using their comments and questions to shift focus and emphasis as needed. He not only taught the necessary skills and techniques, but also gave the confidence and calmness in approach to equip students to handle emergencies. Mr. Riffe was the best CPR/First Aid instructor we have had over the past 10+ years. It always helps to have an instructor that has experienced what s/he teaches. The atmosphere was not 'up-tight' and EVERYONE was at ease. There were a few comedy minutes, too. The expectations were met. The cards for completing the course were issued after the training. Our training with Jonathan Riffe was great! He explained everything so it was easily understandable, answered our questions and demonstrated procedures for administering aid so that we would feel in the know and confident if we ever had to perform CPR, help someone who is choking or administering first aid. Had Jonathan do a CPR course for a Girl Scout Troop (6th graders). The girls were SO engaged and throughout the training. They are still talking about it a month later!
