Clean pool! Large warm hot tub! Pleasant music throughout entire property. Very nice/clean gas grill that we used to cook pork chops and baked potatoes on! We love this place and can not wait to go back next year when we are booking an extra night this time just so we have more time to enjoy all this place has to offer!! BTW: this is a great motorcycle destination as the roads surrounding have lots of curves with awesome views. Just head south out of western Missouri on Rt23 and ride the "Pig Trail" down ... set google maps destination for : Mena Mountain Resort ... and then just sit back and enjoy the ride!! The only other real con for me is that these are outdoor rooms - but there are no indoor hotels anywhere near this price point in the area. To be fair, every place has had good service for me so far, and no exception - the Ozark desklady happily gave me a second key to unlock the room that had my first key locked inside (I was really tired last night, sorry!). Rooms are very well maintained and kept clean. No loiterers outside, unlike other hotels on this vacation, and no smoking anywhere. This all shows, and it's why we're at the top. What I'd like to see for 5 stars: quieter room A/Cs, slightly softer beds, room lights a little less obnoxiously bright (no lamps, it's just a few overheads - all or nothing it feels like). It's close. A good choice for Mena travelers.

If I could suggest anything, it would be an update to the thermostats, a pretty penny, I'm sure. The aircon blew nice cold air that cut the humidity, but the thermostat didn't adjust easily, room 205 FYI. We couldn't just push it a tiny bit or the change wouldn't register, so I pushed it too far. Woke up in a hot room, tried to push it down only a tiny bit, didn't work. I managed to sleep enough, but it was cooling at 71 or 77. Really difficult to get it in between. I finally decided it was easier to sleep warm than sleep cold.

There is a steep grade climb up to the cabins, no issues for a car or truck. All of the cabins have a view. We stayed at the honeymooners cabin number three in the view from the screened in porch was amazing. The porch is where we spent most of our time. We used the Jacuzzi tub in the living room for a good hour of soak time before bed. The queen bed was comfortable for two people. Cabin was clean and spacious enough for us, And had everything we needed including a small refrigerator microwave toaster oven sink. Good size shower in the bathroom. We stayed in cabin 3, Honeymooners. The interior of the cabin is all wood but in really good condition and there was no smell of smoke. Good communications by text we never have to actually see anyone. Looking forward to the next visit!

And the owners, Barbara and Edward Clare are almost like family to all of their guests. When you stop in the main house they have a fresh baked loaf of bread for you--there's butter and blackberry jelly in your fridge at one of the two cottages. Now if you are looking for 5-star accommodations with the finest spa amenities, this is not your place. If you are looking for a country cabin with a fire pit, comfy bed, rustic beauty of the mountains all around you--then you have hit pay-dirt. This is the only place I stay in the area. Based on when you books you will pay $80-$100 per night, less than most hotels in the area. We stayed the night before in Mena and regretted it. The cottage has a fully stocked kitchen with coffee, hot tea and enough spices, pots, pans and dishes for you to cook what ever you want. I make breakfast every time I'm there. I grab some eggs and ham at the local convenience store and I'm set. The bed is comfy and the bathrooms is super clean. They have DISH Network, so you can watch television or enjoy the selection of VHS tapes. But really you should go sit on the porch and see the stars or listen for the wildlife to come scurrying by.

This historical B&B is nested in the small town of Mena, Arkansas. As we drove upon the property, I already knew that we were going to have a comfortable stay as the driveway itself is elegant. The exterior of the home brings back all the character and charm of the 1900's. The innkeepers were one the friendliest hosts I have met. Both Darren and Jill went above and beyond to ensure that we had the most pleasant stay. A plus on this, is that Jill herself is a baker and had different types of cookies and muffins ready for us daily. Highlights were the blueberry muffins (berries locally picked) and the Louisianna Tea cookies (original family recipe). They even had plenty of drinks stocked for us throughout the stay. Darren himself is a concierge and was so knowledgeable of the home's history and the surrounding areas. The house itself was comfortable and one of a kind. We were given the top floor of the home which felt like a suite. The house has been kept to its original state. Everything from the windows to the doors, and ceilings are authentic. As we walked into the first room upstairs, we could not help but notice the coziness of the decor. The room itself has two twin beds and is connected to the primary bedroom and bathroom. The space was huge and felt welcoming. The beds themselves were so comfortable that we ended up sleeping in daily getting caught up on some much-needed zzz's. I was a little worried about thin walls, but you could not even hear a pin drop! On our last day, we sat out in their back porch sitting area to view the beautiful sassafras trees. These trees are the oldest trees in the area and were absolutely beautiful. As the sun went down, we started to see the mesmerizing fireflies making the our experience majical!. This brought back so many memories since do not have these back in Vegas. This was just a priceless moment for us! This by far was one of our best stays while out traveling. If we are in the area again, we will book another stay but if not, we will stop by for the treats! Thanks to Darren and Jill for the wonderful experience!
