SPECTACULAR Campus, Stadium and Experience all in all!! SOU Stadium was this latest checkin!! We came from central California, Fresno to be exact to Tailgate and enjoy some SOU Raider football!! The atmosphere is electric, food inside the stadium but ESPECIALLY Outside is devine!! Tritip(s), hot links, stuffed mushrooms and bacon wrapped Jalapeno poppers are MANDATORY Tailgate cuisine!! Trust & believe when Big Fred is atta Tailgate, the food is unquestionably at it's best coming out the Smoker or off the grill!! The views are unreal, it's like looking atta national forest in all directions, mountains and hillsides galore, snow in the winter, lakes and rivers in the fall & summer!! BEAUTIFUL!! I've been to this university 3 times with my previous kids for the Shakespeare Festival and when my youngest informed me that she was interested in possibly going to school here I couldn't past up opportunity to bring her her to tour the campus. The campus has a nice atmosphere and the city of Ashland is a great place to enjoy walking around and take in the arts community. Definitely will be back here as a father of a student going here or as a tourist. read more

My time at Southern Oregon University not only brought a new perspective to life and learning, but taught me about community. This small school boasts great programs and an even more phenomenal teaching staff. The communication department in particular gets 5 stars for setting high expectations and celebrating the success of students. read more

This place is severely missed management. The food is terrible. The dorms are kinda sketch. They got rid of my sports team after saying they wouldn't. The list goes on and on and on. Highly recommend not coming here. I hope that this place can be fixed one day read more

As a 2009 (and 2012) graduate of SOU, I can attest to the quality education that this fine institution provides. I especially enjoyed the sense of (small) community that seems to be present in every aspect of the college. SOU is filled with caring and compassionate students and professors and ultimately people who wanted something different form their education. The class sizes are small and professors will know you by name. SOU taught me the value of diversity and respect in an educational setting and for that I am grateful. As a commuter student, it was definitely not the "traditional" college experience, but it served me well. I wish I had taken the opportunity to live in the dorms and experience even more of the college life here. read more

I'm a parent of a future SOU student as my daughter will be attending as a freshman for Fall 2015. We have visited Ashland twice and love the small town and its atmosphere. The town and school is surrounded by beautiful mountains on most sides (unless heading up/North on 5 freeway). Not to close and not to far as we are in El Dorado Hills, CA- 4 1/2 hours away. I see their library is ranked 19 from a respectable poll with some popular universities on it also. I'll wait for the 'academic' feedback from my daughter once she is well through her 1st semester and report but for now this university as far as size (approx 6200 students) and beauty wise, is great. read more

I moved to Ashland for reasons unrelated to SOU but I participate in the community choir and it's a wonderfully fun program! Jefferson State Choral Coalition is an evening continuing education choir program run by Dr. Kirby Shaw and we have a great time. I never thought I'd fit in at a community choir with older people (I'm 28 and the average age in the choir is, I would guess, about 50) but I have made some incredible friends and always feel that "class" is more than worth the price for the quarter :D read more

A campus in a gorgeous area. Having only stayed for my first year before switching to a program that Southern Oregon doesn't have. They definitely have a good amount of classes that you can choose from with the professors leaning towards the liberal side of of their subjects. The University is on a Quarter system which means a faster paced learning environment than what most are used to. read more

I went to school here. They take pride in their school programs, music program and athletic program. It's also in one of the coolest city/towns on the west coast. The town is cozy but yet they find any reason to kick it!! Gotta love that! Just recently returned for a visit and enjoyed every minute of it! read more
