If you are considering putting your loved one in memory care, I would highly recommend putting a…read morecamera in the room so that you can monitor the care they are receiving. My family also installed a bed alarm to alert the staff if my mother got out of bed because she needed assistance to prevent falls. Even with all of these safeguard, my family still had to call the staff to ask for help! The staff there were very kind and attentive but like many places they are understaffed! We found a very skeletal coverage on weekends and especially holiday! I would also encourage third party care such as hospice to check on your loved one's wellbeing. Our mother had dementia and she went through rapid decline. Her last days were very difficult for our family. We used this facility for 2 and half years and they are on their 3rd director! It is imperative to provide care to our aging parents that require constant monitoring, clean surrounding, nutritional meals, social and physical services. All of these services require staff that are trained to provide excellent care. As my family experienced, many of the patients require compassionate care from individuals who can and are willing to assist them with their physical and psychological challenges. Communication with the family is crucial as they make this journey with their loved one!

Our family and mom, were very nervous about this change. The staff at Celebration went beyond our expectations to help mom transition to her new setting. It is clear, that the staff has been trained to purposely connect with each resident, learn their names, key into when they need assistance, and create a feeling of family and a "home" environment within the building. Mom has told us several times how "happy" she is. She feels cared for, seen and safe at Celebration. In January, there was a multi day winter storm. The director and staff were prepared in advance and stayed in the building 24/7 throughout the duration of the storm. This level of commitment provided my mom and our family a strong sense of security and is a prime example of the "resident focused" level of care we have received at Celebration. Our experience at Celebration has made this transition in our mom's life one that has added to her overall well being, stablized her health issues and increased her feelings of joy. Our family strongly recommends Celebration SL. CB and Family

HarborChase McKinney When I realized that our loved one…read moreneeded assisted-living care, I began the search. My desires for a good facility were broad and many, but I wasn't about to settle for second best. Here is a partial list of my criteria: Cleanliness, good food, varied activities and outings, committed staff, complete levels of care available as residents age, on-site nurse, community involvement, family interaction and the list goes on. Of course, the price each month had to be reasonable. I looked at 15 different facilities in the Richardson, Dallas and Plano areas. I saw places I would never let my loved one go into. I worried that my loved one's needs and my standards were never going to be met at a fair price. Then one day I visited HarborChase in McKinney. This facility was exactly what I had been looking for and more. As we toured around and I met several staff members, I was struck by the happiness and positive atmosphere created there. It was comfortable to be around everyone and I knew right away this was the place I could trust to take over caring for our family's loved one. After a long meeting with the executive staff, all of my questions were answered to my satisfaction. We then took our loved one to check out the place and look at a beautiful studio apartment with a patio. He was hooked immediately and HarborChase became his home and our second home. We have never looked back, and our entire family is so grateful to the caring staff for always, every day, going the extra mile to ensure everything promised to us is delivered. Vicki Moore

They were wonderful getting her signed up and actually had her at one of their sister locations for the first couple of months while they waited on their new facility licensing. They took care of the move into the other facility and then the move back once they were open. They went above and beyond getting her acclimated and getting her to join in on activities. Grandma passed a few weeks ago and her care was exemplary right to the end. Ashley (Executive Director) and Tamera (Head of Patient Care) we're always available to answer questions or concerns and kept us updated whenever needed. Everyone there felt like family and we will actually miss seeing them on a regular basis, because they were such a big part of our lives this past year. I can't say enough about how grateful we are to them for taking such good care of Grandma.

We visited dozens of sites on the internet, and drove to six places in the north Dallas area. The one place that jumped out to us was Parkview in Frisco. We have never been sorry that we chose this as our home. It is a an attractive facility, and the landscaping is beautiful. Parkview has several different floor plans and apartment sizes, but we chose a two bedroom, two bath apartment that meets our needs perfectly. It has a modern kitchen, large living/dining room and a comfortable balcony with a view. All utility expenses (except TV and phone) are included. Our maintenance needs are also included and fixed rapidly just by a phone call. But it is the friendly residents and serving staff that puts Parkview ahead of other retirement complexes. Smiles and hello's greet you in the hallways and warm conversations are the norm in the dining room. And by the way, the food and service iin our Embers Restaurant is first class, with a wide variety of selections and all prepared and served well. We love to take cruise vacations, and our life "aboard" Parkview is very much like that on a premium cruise ship: daily activities, entertainment, dining, etc. So if you are looking for a retirement place, you should come by Parkview in Frisco. We think you will like it . . . we certainly do. Bob M P.S. Here's a link to a website we publish highlighting life here at Parkview in Frisco: www.parkviewers.com

I've noticed that there's ALWAYS a happy buzz in the restaurant - which to me says a lot about how much people enjoy themselves and I've NEVER seen that so consistently at any of the other many many communities that I've been to - and the food is GREAT! Parkview actually have the ONLY restaurant that I've been to in the US where I can get a salmon cooked and served as it should be - and I'm from northern Sweden so I definitely know my salmon! :-D ...and the grilled chicken salad with the Chef's homemade dressing - O M G it's so fingerlickin' gooooood I wished they sold it bottled!! The last time I visited, I got the chance to see their new Assisted Living and Memory Care next door and...WOW!! That is the most astonishing AL/MC that I've EVER seen - on any side of the Atlantic ocean! It seriously looks like a serene SPA with a Texas-twist - it's sooooo beautiful in every little detail and it's amazingly well thought through to help the residents thrive. It totally astonished me and still, I have a veeeery critical eye when it comes to living conditions and surroundings! :-D I definitely recommend this place! :-)
