The associate (male) ignored my wife who had a question for nearly 30 minutes. Awful customer service.

They promptly made my keys and did not tell me where to get the items I came in for; they walked me around the store until I got every item I needed. Real customer service! I passed a Lowe's and Home Depot on my way to Fort Dobbs Hardware and I do not regret my decision. Whether you just need a couple things to finish your DIY project, need camping gear or you are prepping for when SHTF; this should be your destination. Great service; friendly knowledge people, nice selection and good prices. Totally recommend

Can't beat it for the hard to find…read more This is not a Big Box Hardware Chain by any stretch of the imagination. Small family owned that excels on service. Despite not having the volume of the Big Box Stores, they are still competitive on price. In the past, they have been the one place I could count on to get Rock Salt for snow removal in a timely fashion. If they did not have it, they would put you on a call list give you a call when it came in. It's been a number of of years ago, but we had a power outage and I called about a kerosene heater. After all, I have been coming here oft and on for 10 years now. They had one and exactly one and put it on hold for me. When I showed up to pick it up later in the day, a young father came in desperate for a kerosene heater. Had a couple of small kids and his wife in the car and you could tell they were cold.] The only had one left but I let the young man go ahead and buy it for his family. Fort Dobbs Hardware made sure I had the next one that arrived. At one time, Statesville had two hardware stores like this but the second, Wagner's on Shelton Ave has been gone for a number of years not. If I need something a bit out of the ordinary, there is a good chance they will have it. Also good for advise on how to fix or repair things and to aid in proper tool selection.

Turner D E & Co Hardware Store - Grandson does not know it but one of his Christmas presents came from here for 2015.

The staff are nice and friendly and willing to help. This store has tons of items your big box stores could only dream of selling. Great place for those items that are tough to find but not in most retailers. The screws and nails are still sold by the pound! They have been in business here since 1899! Thats over 125 years in business. Come by and take a look an a living piece of history, you will be sure to leave with something.

I've been in a few times buying things and I'm still not sure if this is a working hardware store or a historic site. There's tables full of tools and merchandise and bins of fasteners and they'll cut keys for you and I've even purchased gardening tools here but they just might be functional souvenirs from the coolest gift shop ever ;-) Really, there's spare parts and fluids and coatings in wall cubbies for things that were old when Moses was young; an amazing array of scythes, buck-saws, and other implements of indeterminate age but obviously well used and cared for as you would expect in these surroundings.

I don't have a fear of dogs but when I go into a home improvement store, I am not expecting to see animals in every other aisle. At times I feel like I've stepped into Petco instead of Lowes. We have literally seen dog poop on the floor and on one particular occasion, someone accidentally stepped in the poop and tracked it across the floor. Disgusting!!! A couple of weeks ago I was in the store and I stopped to ask a customer service rep. where a particular item was located and when I turned to head in the direction of the item, I was shocked to see a very large dog (roughly the size of a Great Dane) standing less than a foot away from me. I was startled to say the least. The owner just smiled and he and the dog continued to walk down the aisle. I told my husband that the dog population in that store was getting out of hand. Yesterday, I was in the same store and my husband and I were looking at paint supplies when a couple came down the aisle with a medium sized dog. They stopped a couple of feet away from us. The next thing that we knew, the dog started yelping and hollering and carrying on. We quickly moved away and the couple pulled the dog away while talking to it and trying to calm it down. I told my husband that I was done and that I would not shop at Lowes unless they put more animal restrictions in place. I have been a Lowes customer for over 20 years but over the last few years, Lowes has gone to the dogs "LITERALLY!"

This is the Lowe's in Statesville off of Turnerburg Hwy. A bit out of the way so I don't come here often but maybe I should. Parked and walked in a lunch and Customer Service quickly processed my payment. Back to the back to pick up a second 6 foot table for my office. Each Lowe's in this area has a different floor plan which is madding but he are headquartered locally so each local store becomes a test lab for a new floor plan. Took awhile to find it but did and checkout was a breeze. A very good shopping experience and payed my bill, made my purchases and still had time for lunch.

The manager himself will spend time with you explaining the differences between similar items and then helping you load your purchases. Not every item on display is actually available in the store for purchase. Harbor Freight is not alone in having supply chain issues. The wooden work bench that I wanted to buy for hubby wasn't available in the Statesville store. I had to drive to Harbor Freight in Winston Salem to buy it. The large tool boxes that hubby wanted to buy weren't in stock either and had to be ordered. He ordered and paid for them on October 28, and three weeks later they're not in yet. No fault of the Statesville store. We've shopped in several Harbor Freight stores, and this one is our favorite.
