Not sure why this place has poor reviews, this is the biggest thrift store I've ever seen. It is easily the size of a grocery store and that is BEFORE you realize there is a lower level. For those with disabilities, this store has a long ramp up to the front doors and an elevator in the back of the store. Next up, unlike most thrift stores I've been in, the store smells clean. The merchandise is organized but, as with many thrifts, it takes a bit to figure out the layout. If you are mourning the loss of Goodwill merchandise to the Goodwill ecommerce store, swing by this place and check it out. The selection is insanely good. The persons working the registers were fast and friendly. The prices were a mixed bag. I picked up 3 books each for $2-3 but I suspect that they were priced so low because they came in a long time ago. There were other books I saw prices around 4-5. And still others were $30... but I'm not into those genres and couldn't say what their value was. This was my first and last time to Southern thrift market. For a place that has a majority of it donated to them for free this place is extremely overpriced for a thrift store. If I wanted to pay $20 for a shirt, I would go to a department store. Absolutely zero customer service (passed three employees) no one greets you, No one says hi nothing. If you want to pay overpriced for used items this is definitely the store to come otherwise most certainly not a thrift store. This is not your normal thrift store, for a few reasons: 1. It's huge. Like, MASSIVE. They have clothing and furniture on the top floor and housewares and linens downstairs. I've never heard of a two floor thrift store, but here we are. 2. The prices are higher than you might expect. Used to be good. Now whoever does the pricing is crazy. Some used simple shirts or vests are over 50. Because they are a known brand. Not high end. Just 1/2 way decent. If they have a new tag on them. Good brand or not they are crazy priced. I saw more than one with a T.J.Maxx tag. And the thrift store was at least double that price. The house hold items are the same, there were galvanized, trash cans about a month ago, the price for one of them, a used trashcan, was MORE than double what they would have been new at Home Depot or Lowe's. I had asked about them, and they told me well "That color is half off" still not worth it for a used trashcan, because they're half off price would have still been about $10 more than what I could've gotten it for new. We came to visit this Thrift store after seeing a video of it and check it out. They do have a lot of items for sale, so make sure to take your time when visiting because there is a lot to explore. I must say I was a little surprised at their "prices" because some clothing items were a bit pricey to our opinion. I was expecting to find cheaper prices on most of their items but that was not the case. You'd find cheaper prices at Goodwill or Salvation Army instead. Was there 3 hours exactly recently, I was shopping according to the color sale, when I was in line to pay I noticed that the colors were different and had been changed. I know that for the first 2 hrs I had been using them as reference and then went upstairs and there was NO colors posted. When I was paying I asked if they were changed and the lady said, "yes". I let her know that for 2-3 hrs they had different sale colors posted. She apologized and said they change in the morning. I was upset and let her know that obviously someone had not done their job. I asked for a manger who did not care in the slightest, and told the lady at the register I didn't want any of it. Everything I shopped for did not come home with me. It was a waste of my 3 hours, thanks Southern Thrift for wasting my time on my only day off. And I almost forgot to mention the music playing was horrible. It added to my anxiety levels. read more

Crusty, not name brand tshirts for $10. A Ross skirt with the tag on it reading $9.99 priced at $25! TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS. FAKE BAGS for $30! I can not believe it. I was flabbergasted. A table for $70 and they wrote the price right on the wood. They get this stuff DONATED. FOR FREE. And they're charging these prices. Insane. I found a crate and it had two prices on it, I mentioned it to the cashier and the manager overheard me say there were two price tags. Manager rushed over and said I couldn't buy the item even though I was willing to pay the higher price tag of $3 over the $2 price tag. It's just disappointing when you find an item you want and the manager takes it away and refuses to sell it to you because of their error of pricing it twice. Manager should be evaluated in her customer service skills. read more

I just got back from this place. Interesting. When I first walked in, I wasn't sure if it was gonna be what I was looking for. But then I started to browse the racks- the sorting method takes a second to get used to, but it makes sense. I found the people working there to be really nice and helpful. I ended up getting 13 cute pieces of clothing for $91 total, after spending about two hours looking. The pricing can be a little wacky. These are not super cheap Value Village prices- they can tell what people are looking for/buying, and they price accordingly. For instance, a pair of jeans I got was $15, and a really nice vintage plaid jacket was $16, but all my shirts & bottoms were around $5-$9. I didn't spend a lot of time downstairs. Prices of Mens sport coats and suits are sporadic. Goodwill charges $7 for sport coats and $14 for suits. The Mens pile just keeps getting bigger because the inability to sell-off. Lots of items for sure, but charging $20 plus for jackets and $50 plus for suits doesn't make me come back...even with the half off discount it's way more than their local competitors and Atlanta has plenty of good thrift stores. read more

This place is huge and sold an extensive amount of things. For example, I found Wii consoles and various brand named apparel (Ralph Lauren, DKNY, Ann Taylor, Toms, etc.). If you're not tired of the main floor, there's another down below that had a $0.39 deal this past weekend. My friend said they have weekly sales so it changes often. This one seemed to be a biggie since the solid colored tags (except the yellow ones) came out only to be $2.22 for items on the main floor. Wow right?! I love how the clothes and shoes were sorted by size. It made life so much easier to rummage through it all. For ladies' apparel, there were so many racks that some of us became overwhelmed with the options available. Even though I am not a thrift store shopper and have plenty of clothes that fills my two closets, misc bins, and drawers, this was a steal so I couldn't resist. This place right c'here (not here, but c'here,) was all that I was hoping for! I decided to come here, because my friend (I won't mention her name, but her name is Ellen,) has been posting fantastic pictures of this place. Her pictures showed unique items as well as much needed items..... Oh who am I kidding? There was no "needed items." I WANTED. I absolutely love thrift stores, and I couldn't wait until I had a chance to rummange. Guess what? There was no rummaging. Why? Because, the whole darn place was neat, organized, color coded, and clothes were put on their racks by their sizes! There was associates throughout the store, that was more than happy to help with anything. I had a question about the color and the prices (different colors mean different percentages off. Like Orange and Pink were 50% off today!) Guess what? I turned around, and boop! There was an associate right there to answer my question (obviously, I couldn't tell the difference between the color orange and the color yellow. Yup, they had to show me the difference. To my defense, it was because I hadn't come across an orange tag as of yet.) Anyhow, there are two levels to this place. The bottom level was mainly for books and children. What I really enjoyed about this place, was that it didn't smell like a consignment shop. It didn't smell mothy, musky or old. The prices here is for anyone who is on a budget and want lightly used, nice clothes. I tell ya what.... I was tired of going to thrift stores and being charged as if I was in a department store. Wow...what a huge building! My son and I really enjoy visiting thrift stores and this location did not disappoint. They have everything...clothes, furniture, kitchen stuff, phones, fax machines, manga, baseball cards, stamps, fake plants, art, vintage books, regular books, knick knacks galore, coffee mugs, shoes, records both regular and 45, old magazines, outdoor stuff, boxes of greeting cards, storage boxes, designer stuff, instruments, antiques, collectible dolls, collectible pins and buttons, jewelry of all kinds, children's toys, picture frames, baseball cleats and the list goes on and on. The prices seemed pretty reasonable. I bought a picture frame and a toy circus elephant and it was just over five dollars. My son got a Shark vacuum which retails for around $300 for $39. Sometimes they have some real treasures in the display case. I found a set of vintage 1847 Roger Bros. silverware in its original case for $30. Because pink tags were half off that day, I got the whole lot for just $15! It shined up nicely. On the weekends, the have four color ticket sales. IF YOU ARE A YOUNG ADULT WOMEN BE CAREFUL OF A MAN THAG WORKS AT THE STORE. I was walking around carrying clothes in my arms and a man stops me and asks to look in my tote bag and accuses me on shoplifting bc I wasn't using a cart to hold my clothes. I was carrying a rather large tote bag and the clothes were draped over the top of it. I STILL have them business and left promptly after he threatened me by saying he would call the cops even though I DID NOT COMMIT A CRIME. Even after he searched my bag and I explained to him that this was my first time ever visiting this store and didn't know that they had carts to hold (idk why me holding my items on my arm would make them think i was going to just walk out with them). I understand upholding no shoplifting but accusing and threatening a customer saying "you are not a good girl" and "good girls wouldn't steal that is very naughty" even after searching their bag to find nothing is not only unprofessional but also very inappropriate. First time here and will NEVER be coming back. read more

This is hands down the best thrift store I've ever been to! It's so well organized compared to Good Will and other stores I've been to. It's huge and has a great selection. I didn't have time to go through as much as I wanted, but I still got some good things. I liked how expansive the shoe section was and there were actually nice shoes. Same with the bags, belt, and jewelry. It's a bit pricier than goodwill, but it's worth it for the store to be so organized. When I went there was actually an amazing sale where everything $25.00 and under that didn't have a purple or green tag was $2.99, so I got 6 things for $14.12!! I'm very happy with my experience here and I'll definitely be back soon! read more

The only complaint that I have is that prices can be high on some pieces, but they have certain color tags 50% off daily as well as special sale days throughout the week (Tuesday's all clothes 50% off, etc). Honestly one of my favorite thrift stores in the Atlanta area! Go early because it gets crowded about an hour after opening and the good stuff gets taken. Their prices are the lowest out of anywhere I've seen in Atlanta. They also have a bigger selection of men's clothes than anywhere else. read more

The good-Nice clothes! I found some really cute pieces here. The clothing is in good condition. And if you're selective they look newer. The bad- you can't separate dish sets that cost $80-$100 something dollars. This store may be paranoid, as they were following me. Backstory- I heard a call for security on the speakers( no big deal) when I started browsing upstairs and look- automatically a yellow vest staff member magically starts fiddling right next to me. Ok -no biggie, maybe she's restocking. First I did my upstairs shopping , purchased and took the bag to my car . I recalled I wanted to purchase some children's clothing downstairs so I came back,walked downstairs and started browsing- "security! " and here comes the staff hovering and following again. Absolutely not worth the time. It's less a "thrift store" than a badly overpriced flea market where you can't bargain. I saw two used, Casio-type keyboards, both over $100. That kind of pricing was typical. They've got tons of mass-produced prints lining the walls, in like the $30 range, but that's roughly what you'd pay for new prints at HomeGoods. At any actual thrift store they would have been $5-$15, mainly for the mat, glass and frame. They had a cheap Joan Miró print -- college-apartment quality -- priced at $80. I didn't see a single item remotely like a "deal." What good is a huge selection if the prices are several hundred percent higher than at competing stores? read more

I have loved Southern Thrift Market and I have shopped here for years. In the past few months their prices have increased substantially. They are on average in my opinion only a dollar or two less than shopping for new items at Ross or Burlington. They are definitely more pricey than thrifting at Goodwill. The only way to get a decent deal now is with buying the items marked 50% off based on the color of the day. I am pretty disappointed with their changes in price. read more

I'm glad I read some other reviews before going. That helped me know what to expect. As described in other reviews, the place is massive. The upper floor is the size of your average GoodWill, maybe larger, and it is PACKED. The clothing is organized by both size and style, which is helpful and a nice change from some other local thrift stores. All of the stuff on the top floor is priced individually. There is a lower level, also very large, where everything is a bargain price which changed by the day. It is as low as $0.39 some days, $1.99 other days. The main advantage of this store over other stores is that it has a TON of inventory. If you were looking for a particular color or style, your odds of finding it here would likely be higher than finding it somewhere else. The down side of this store is that the clothing prices are high. HIGH. I'd say eBay prices for nicer brands, but there aren't a ton of nice brands. Most of it is quite overpriced considering they are brands sold at WalMart, Target, Marshall's or Kohl's. I would expect these prices at a higher end consignment store, but here I feel like I'd be overpaying for the usual mass produced stuff you can find at any thrift store. I don't think it's a great destination for a bargain hunter. There's a possibility for a bargain in the basement, but it's quite picked over so don't expect many true hidden gems. Housewares, books, other categories are priced more reasonably than clothing, but still above other local thrift stores with no unusually exciting merchandise to speak of. This place is cool. This place is huge. This place has awesome stuff. However, this place is rigid and uncompromising. I found some really great items, one was a wedding veil. I saw that it had a number 2 written on a tag and circled. I didn't know what that meant so I went to ask. They said it meant that it was a 2nd part of another item. The other item being a wedding dress. That's fine, but I'm interesting in buying this alone as I already have a dress. Then they say I can't because it's priced together. Mmm, okay. Well where's the original dress? Dunno they say. Hmmmm, okay. So I roam around more and decided to follow up again before I cash out. Did you find the dress? Yes. How much is it? We don't know. There's no price. Okay, well can I just buy the veil then. No, has to go to production and it has to be sold together. Maybe Tuesday. (It's Sunday). Cool, I get it. Can I leave my number because I'm interested. No. Come back. Well, are you sure it will be priced by then? No. Maybe Wedneday is better. Okay... who can I talk to about just buying the veil? No one. It goes together. Like literally frustrating. You sell tennis rackets and their bags separately but you can't detach a veil from a dress? Anyway, no hard feelings. This place does have some really good stuff but to echo some others, this place tends to overprice items. Luckily I was just in for some bottles that were mostly 99 cents each. Good luck! I like this thrift but they have got to get better are there announcements. They close at 8pm on Fridays they start making announcements at 6:50pm, that goes on every 3 to 5 minutes after that at that same time they announced that the fitting rooms and the jewelry counters where closed. At 7:30pm the announcements are again 3 to 5 minutes attached with if you are not on line at 8:00pm you will not be allowed to pay for your merchandise. It was really annoying. This is not the first time. I understand wanting to go home but that is extreme. Be serious who loses if one of those customers are not allowed to pay. So I returned nothing has changed the announcements started a few minutes before 7pm showcases & fitting room are closing at 7:30 Why are they starting this at 7 every few minutes until 8pm but I guess if you don't don't like the way they do it you just go somewhere else. read more

I was SO excited to check this place out. The previous reviews are right in that it is ENORMOUS, well organized and clean. They had a clearance-type deal in the basement where all clothing down there was $1.99. Problem is the clothing in the basement was worth no more than $1.99 as it's where they send their off-season, picked over stuff. What was really disappointing though was that their clothing prices were WAY too high. I'd estimate that the majority of things I found that I would have purchased were priced 50-75% of a comparable brand new item. Knowing this was a new shop, I grabbed a few sample items and tracked down the store manager. I very respectfully asked her about the wild prices, and she said that they price them under guidelines that the owners from New York gave them. Then she said it could have been from trainee employees. Then she said that is why they have half off tickets (so do most thrifts.) Then she boasted where else would I find a $1.99 basement. What she did not do was offer to reduce prices that she agreed were out of whack. I had high hopes for this place but they aren't going to be in business long when their main product is clothing that is priced way too high. read more

I found this gem via a FB ad. What a refreshing change from the sea of Goodwills and overhyped Value Villages in the area. I felt a slight rush as I stepped in not expecting it to be so large! Set aside some time to browse it up. Not only is there a full selection on the main floor priced reasonably, (par for the course some brand names lean a few dollars higher)... there's a downstairs feat. $1.99 threads, along with a ton of bedding, purses, books, etc as well. I really enjoy the lack of chaos here. I actually hesitated to write a review because I don't want Southern Thrift to fall victim to being labeled a "hot spot" and become encumbered with obnoxious clientele but that's ridiculous of me. This is a solid shop with pleasant employees (you read right) and for once I can speak positively about FB. Speaking of which, follow them on FB. Lots of worthwhile deal days. read more

This is a massive space that will demand some time to get the full benefit of. The store is clean and well stocked and there's a spacious bargain basement where all clothes are $1.99. Downstairs is also where you'll find dishes, glassware, some other housewares and a little furniture. There are lots of great pictures and art work surrounding the main floor, but pricing was extremely uneven, a trait not uncommon in thrift stores. Overall, there are some decent mid-level name brands to be had, but I didn't find the super deals and high end brands I get at my favorite thrift store in town. If you live in the area it's worth checking out, but I wouldn't make a special trip to shop here. read more

The absolute worst organization of any thrift store I've shopped at. This past Sunday, I bought a table, 4 chairs and a few smaller things. At checkout, I asked if anyone could help me load it, and said "if not, do you have hand trucks?" I was told that a manager would bring it to the back and I should pull around there. I waited for over 30 minutes before calling and being told that she was opening the door now. She opened the door, but my furniture was nowhere to be found. They'd left it where it was on the floor. Fine. We get the hand trucks and I roll the table to the back and was told she was right behind me with the chairs. She never showed up. I had to go get the chairs myself. If you'll remember, I had no problem doing this myself, but I was told there would be help if I waited. I will not be back at this store. The prices aren't low enough for this level of incompetence. read more
