I don't leave reviews for doctors but I had to speak up: Oct 8 2024 I was seen. I had a sore throat and was congested, yet the doctor that day claimed it was a sinus infection and prescribed me antibiotics. I had to ASK, ASK....to be tested for COVID and strep. The doctor was okay with it, but the nurse who saw me that day overheard me and said in a very snobby and know it all tone "she doesn't need that test". By the way, if you were that nurse just know the walls are transparent and the patient can hear everything you say. They also didn't caution me to monitor my symptoms and see if it progresses worse. Oct 10, 2024 - at lunch time I decided to take a COVID test and sure enough....POSITIVE FOR COVID. Luckily I didn't start the antibiotics bc I was very distrustful of the diagnosis. The nurse and doctor who saw me should know that I can tell they either don't care about their patients or need to be re-educated on how to do their job. The urgent care had only one other person being seen at the same time as me so they were not in a rush. I feel very disrespected and will not be coming back. read more

A coding error resulted in a $175.34 for pain medication for an impacted tooth. Not paying this bill because you don't understand how to code correctly. I have MEDICARE and I use this clinic all the time...cuts, rashes...etc. my co pay is $20. So you can go fuck yourselves. read more

I am from out of town visiting my mother, and I had a VERY bad case of cold soars. My mother suggested I visit Southern Urgent Care (on a Saturday). She and my brother both go to Southern Urgent Care and love the professionalism of the staff. I was checked in and seen right away.. The time that the practitioner took with me was amazing! She even left the room at one point to look up viral infections that I may have caught that would cause this level of blisters. She prescribed four medicines for me and strongly suggested that I visit a dermatologist when I returned homes. I did visit my dermatologist who could not get out of the room fast enough. He may have spent 7 minutes talking to me. Unlike the practitioner at Southern Urgent Care. She spent about 20 minutes with me and was very kind and professional!! I was diagnosed with shingles here and given Decadron prednisone and Valtrex..I had an extreme drug reaction ..my flesh pretty much rotted off. And coming back to my doctor in Athens Georgia ,he said I did not have shingles at all.. that they should've taken some type of biopsy.. he thought I might've had impetigo .I almost died . a few years later I received a bill for $20 can you believe it. read more

Last Wednesday my 11 year old granddaughter was playing basketball at the Islands YMCA. She injured her foot and I was fairly certain she broke something. I called Southern Urgent Care to insure they could X-ray her foot and the woman on the phone told me they could but they closed in 20 minutes. I told her we were just around the corner and could be there in a couple of minutes. She again told me in a very irritated tone that they closed in 20 minutes. We arrived in about 3 minutes and the lights were off and a woman stood at the counter looking out the window! It was 15 minutes before closing. She knew we were on our way! I will NEVER go there again. This was not the first time I had an unpleasant experience with them. read more

BEWARE LACK OF TRANSPARENCY AND EXTORTION. score one star for the staff. Staff was friendly enough. nurse was a little unprofessional, but very personable. Maybe thats just how it rolls here. The lack of stars comes from the surprise billing. Where I found out that I was not billed for just the flu test I agreed to but also about five other tests that I was not informed of at all and are seemingly irrelevant to the flu. As well as a second bill from the office itself for a another bout of charges that only gave the insurance code for them and no explanation. I called the office to get my records from them to see why all the extraneous testing and charges, and was informed that it would be $15 for my records. This medical facility and it's utter lack of transparency is a prime example of what is wrong with our health are system. Avoid like the bubonic pluage. read more

Staff was friendly, and doctors were great... The billing I received afterward was outrageous. I called first to make sure I could afford it. I was told it would be $145 total. I said, "What if I need an x-ray?" $145 total, I was told. I showed up, paid $145, had an x-ray, and was given a sling for my arm (one I could've made at the house for free.) I thought I was done, but over the next month and a half, I started receiving bills from various places. I ended up paying over twice what I was told. Honestly, this is why I don't go to the doctor. Next time I get hurt, I'll just self diagnose and self-medicate at home. read more

We are a family of five and we have been here more times than I could count in the last six years. We have never once had a negative experience. I should have read previous posts before going in! The gentleman at the front desk was nice enough. The Nurse that saw me first was aboslutely atrocious. I wanted to leave within seconds of talking with her. I never go to the doctor and for that reason I went to an urgent care because I wasn't feeling right and needed some re-assurance. The Nurse did not give me any warm fuzzies AND, when she was giving her assessment of me to the doctor before he came in (outside the door) I could hear EVERYTHING SHE SAID, and she was totally mocking me! The doctor was OK, he ordered an EKG, the Nurse came back in to do it and didn't know how to work the machine. It was absolutely uncomfortable and I should have walked out, but I didn't. I would not recommend to my worst enemy. read more

I would just like to say how much I was impressed with my experiences at Southern Urgent Care. I have been there several times and have always been treated kindly and never once had a bad experience for myself or my husband. I am always diagnosed and treated quickly by the doctors and they are very helpful explaining whatever questions or concerns I may have. I went to Southern Urgent care with my new insurance information and it was past the hour to verify so I waited until the next morning to return about a sinus infection. After checking with insurance, the girl at desk told me that I didnt owe anything. I said ok! Then went in to see the doctor. I was very satisfied with medical staff as they were polite and efficient. Two months later I received a bill for close to $100. I called the billing office and they were also polite and courteous. They suggested calling the clinic. After speaking with the rude office manager that talked over me and insisted that that's what I owe, I am paying the balance and will never return there. Don't believe what the incompetent office help tells you so that they can move on. read more

This clinic is proof that most medical staff are c students. That includes the dr. After reading the reviews it seems things are no different from 2017. They tried to have me take unnecessary blood tests to boost their income. 130.00 for three minutes of the singurlarly worst exam ever. Don't waste your money on conveyor belt medicine. read more

Ear pain 2 days. First time here. Sooo much better than the other urgent care (I won't publish the name) that is near it. Professional, kind, but most important-I can sleep again since the pain is gone. They took time to explain everything to me, asked me if I had any questions and actually stood there and waited to see if I did have any. I avoided this place due to poor reviews online. Unfortunately I wasted two hours driving around to find a place that would take my insurance for a chest X-ray. I eventually found myself back here. However, I was VERY pleased with my experience. The facility was great and the staff was caring and knowledgable. I was served quickly and in a way I felt they really understood my condition and concerns. This is the only urgent care on the islands with X-ray that takes insurance. They also have a fully competent staff and are outfitted with everything you will need. I ended up going back in for on-going issues with asthma triggered by a nasty virus. I wasn't charged for my return visit, that was a very nice surprise! I wish I had never been swayed by grumpy reviews and just gone here first. I won't hesitate to use them again. read more

Misdiagnosed me. RUDE. Nurse did a strep test and I saw her, as she was throwing the wrapping away from the swab, wipe the swab on the top of the trash can as she walked out. Looked accidental but careless. Waited ten minutes for it to come back, never saw the doctor again. Nurse came back and practically threw some papers at me and said, "you're good to go." No information on whether I had strep or not, so I had to find her and ask. She said it was negative, even though I knew something was wrong as my lymph node was huge and my throat was in pain. No explanation for anything. Went to a different doctor two days later and I did in fact have strep. read more

I took my father to this clinic in the morning as he was vomiting, in pain, and naseaus throughout the night. I suspected dehydration as he had been working out excessively in the heat. This clinic did not take proper tests to determine a diagnosis and send him away with anti-nasea medication and told him he was fine. His symptoms worsened throughout the day and we had no choice but to take him to the hospital. At the hospital he was diagnosed with heat exhaustion, dehydration, and prostatitis, and had to be on an iv for hours. I DO NOT recommend this clinic as my father was not cared for professionally, even after we questioned the service and told the doctor what had occurred leading up to his sickness. The clinic potentially endangered my father and did not provide appropriate care. DO NOT support this clinic. read more

Too bad this place has gone downhill, particularly with new competition across the parking lot. I went in with severe lower back pain. After 40 minutes I asked the woman working the desk how much longer it might be. She was not nice at all, informing me she was double-checking my insurance. I asked her if that's what was taking so long and she said yes. BS. It doesn't take 40 minutes to verify insurance. Also, I heard her chatting away with other employees while i was waiting. She then pointed out there were two people ahead of me. They actually took someone in who came after me but i didn't say anything else. Then i looked at these reviwas and decided, after 50 minutes, to leave. The woman didn't seem the last bit concerned. Whoever owns this place needs to do a serious checkup. Horrible totally messed up my insurance then took over an hour and a half to see the doctor after the nurse. Do not go here for anything.

Wow they are just nothing but rude at the front desk. I arrived for a workman's comp visit,I had already talked with the person who had setup all the info for them.claim number insurance and any thing else they needed. I arrive there they had no idea what was going on then so very rude and nasty nurse came out and said they need a form filled out and faxed back to them. I tried to explain that how the person with that info was in another city no where near here ,I said Ive never had to go thru this much runaround ,and she says that or find someone else. search a nice person. read more

Misdiagnosed me with flu but didn't do flu swab (but gave Tamiflu)! waited a few days but after no improvement went to regular MD, had PNEUMONIA. My Dr was appalled they gave Tamiflu without flu swab. read more

I wasn't going to write anything but I really want the male Doctor there to have a learning experience. I was there 12/3 with concerns that I was almost 3 weeks late on my period and had mod cramping but all my urine tests were coming back negative. My general practitioner couldn't see me until 12/10 but since I had the cramping I really wanted to get examined sooner and have some blood work done to make sure everything is ok. I call southern urgent care and they inform me that blood work can be done but first I need to have an examine by the doctor and take a Urine test which is fair enough. I arrive there and almost an hour later I am seen by the male doctor I give him the run down of what's going on and that I would like some blood work, he then continues to tell me that I'm probably just excited because I have been trying to get pregnant but since my urine test is negative and my urine looks negative that there's no reason for blood work to be done and that if my cramping gets worse or if I feel like I'm going to pass out to comeback and then we can proceed with blood work and ultrasounds. If that's not condescending enough he then has me wait another 15 min to hand me paper work I think it's to check out it's actually paperwork of WHY women have cramps. I then leave after being there for an hour and 20 min only to pee on a stick that I knew would be negative. Fast forward to a week later when I see my general doctor she ACTUALLY listens to me and takes blood work and it turns out I am 7/8 weeks pregnant. The only nice part of that urgent care is the front desk staff and the assistants. I hope that doctor learns to not treat everyone like a text book and to actually listen to his patients. read more

Up until the last couple of visits I have always enjoyed taking my children and myself to Urgent Care. However, there front staff has gone completely down the tube. I was unfortunate enough to choose to return to Southern Urgent Care last Tuesday, September 29th due to an open wound I incurred during a minor household accident. I waited a long time to be seen but when the doctor finally came to see me, he said my wound was "borderline for stitches". He decided not to use stitches but glued the wound together and put 2 strips on, telling me to wait until the strips fell off, in about a week. The strips came off today and the wound is still open and looks terrible. I went back and waited more than an hour for "follow up wound care" which consisted of the tech saying it didn't look infected, there would be a "small" scar, and she would recommend just leaving it to the open air and not doing anything except putting some Benadryl lotion around it for the itching. This is ridiculous. I could have done this amount of "healing" with Neosporin and a Band-Aid. Instead, I had to pay a $100 copayment and waste several hours for crap treatment. I will not be back. read more
