Sadly a mall that might have once had some decent foot traffic was dead for a holiday weekend. Really Von Maur? Closed on Memorial Day? Thought they would have better sales. The children's place had stuff on sale because they were going out of business. Payless shoes was already closed. The sad boba tea shop needed some more life in it. Not much of value here, kind of a dead mall without even a food court. Only interesting quality was a woman selling Halo-Halo, other than that I only think people will come here for dicks sporting goods. This mall is awful. Businesses keep leaving. They have terrible air conditioning in the summer. No good welcome matts to wipe dirt off of your shoes in entrances. Filthy restrooms. How do they stay open? The davenport Northpark mall is so much better. I think the same company owns both so why does this one suck so much? read more

JC Penneys , Not just this outlet, the company. I purchased some gifts there on Dec 6 and was encouraged to use my Penneys card for an extra discount. then their billing date is the 8th and I must have missed it in the mail and I received a statement Jan 20 and my bill had gone from $71 to $100. A 41% penalty late charge. So much for saving money. We usually put every thing on Visa and pay it in full every month. Tried calls to the company to no avail. I will never use a Penneys card again, maybe never be desperate enough to shop there either. read more

Like the severed limbs of a felled dragon, many of the hallways at Southpark Mall end abruptly where an entire section was ripped out in the hopes of increasing traffic. Just as it's impossible to behold an amputee's stump without picturing the whole and functioning body part that used to connect there, likewise, it is impossible to wander through Southpark without recalling it at the height of former glory. The Gap is gone. B. Dalton is gone. The Buckle is gone. Aladdin's Castle is gone. Though a few big name stores remain and Dick's Sporting Goods has emerged from the rubble of the food court, the mall is now populated by grubby shops whose inventory is largely NASCAR blankets and moving waterfall clocks, all with a markup up of about 5000%. Whether American Eagle or Enchanted Palace Entertainment, all of the stores at Southpark share one major theme: abandonment. I was there at noon on a Saturday and was, without exception, the sole patron at every shop I entered. Breaking up is hard, but Southpark Mall seems to have hit its peak. Probably in about 1991. The fact that it's a dead zone likely has less to do with the people running the place and more to do with our local economy; nevertheless, you should probably hit up Davenport or Coralville if your shopping needs are serious. I have fond memories of this place. As a wee little child my mother would bring me shopping here every Tuesday with my grandmother. We'd visit Hallmark, JC Penny, and always grab a bite to eat at Dairy Queen in the food court. A lot has changed in those 20 years, and this mall is an entirely different experience now. There are a few major plus sides to this place, and also a couple things they could still improve on. But- to start out I want to mention, in my mind, the best attribute to this mall. This mall is constantly renovating itself and trying to 'stay up to date with the times'. They have a lot of seating spaced around the mall with free wifi hotspots. I come here specifically for the wifi often- and usually, in turn, end up spontaneously shopping and eating and supporting the shops inside. Absolutely brilliant marketing move on their part to offer wifi AND seating for wifi. They have tables and high-top booth seating. They also have plug-ins with electric outlets AND USB outlets. There are plenty of outlets so you can charge multiple devices at once. The seating is spaced widely so multiple people can share an area without feeling crowded in. The seating areas are very clean and well-kept. And the wifi is FAST. Honestly faster than my home wifi sometimes. Very easy to log into as well- no password is required. So, that's the major positive. But, my first 'down side' comes shortly there after. This mall is lacking in adequate lighting. Most of their walking areas rely on dim fluorescent lighting and sky-top windows. The shadows are heavy and some of the hallways almost seem actually dark. They do need to work on improving that issue. Other than that there is plenty of seating areas- including large cushioned couches, tables, booths, and massage chairs. And the mall in general is kept very clean. Mall security can be seen scanning the place often as well- which makes it seem very safe. There are plenty of stores here. Everything from Dicks Sporting Goods to Rue 21 to smaller lesser known shops. They have a nail salon, a massage center, tons of niche-market kiosks, cell service stores, clothing shops, a furniture store, seasonal stores, and lots of eateries. They used to have an actual food court area with a couple eateries in one spot. But I've noticed now the eateries are spaced out a bit. There's still a Dairy Queen in the center- a random pretzel shop on one end- and a Chick-Fil-A amidst a couple stores. It's really odd and I'd like to see all of the eating areas more centrally located- or at least in the same general area. Is this the best mall in the world? No. But it definitely brings a unique shopping experience to the Illinois-side of the Quad Cities area. I LOVE the Wifi (Northpark doesn't offer the same convenience), but I wish they had better lighting in the walk-ways and the food court was organized in one single spot. They're very 'meh', but worth stopping in at for a nice little stroll around, or (of course) to use the internet. read more

Still one of the best malls. It just has some kind of cosmic energy. I would be surprised if it's sitting on a portal. I time travel here to the 90s often. I miss the food court but feel the mall is bouncing back. They need more restaurants and a craft Brewery. Love you South Park! read more

Good WIFI... enjoy the sitting area and cable television. Security guys will help you if there is a problem. Sometimes I am there so long I forget where I parked so I have to walk around extra laps. That's ok at the mall though because people just think you are exercising. Need people passing out free samples at the food court to get that fifth star. read more

So it has been a few years since I have been there and wow! I don't know what happened but the place looks like it could go out of business any day now. I just walked out and every store I wanted to go to was no longer there. Unless you want the department stores, bath and body and dicks, the place is a desolate mall. So many empty spaces not much for food. I'll drive the extra 20 mins across the bridge to go to the other mall. I will never come here again. I used to enjoy this place. Now it looks like I walked into hell. Empty and lonely. read more

Tear this thing down already. Some of my first jobs were at this mall in its good days. I loved it back then, but this place is now beyond sad. It reminds me of a similar mall in Bloomington IL. They realized it was at the end of its life. Most retailers pulled out and they did something drastic. They bulldozed the entire place and built a beautiful outdoor mall. Retailers returned. Nice restaurants, better bigger retailers. Why do we continue to try and save this place. The building is run down and embarrassing. The exterior, parking lots and entrance bridges are falling apart. The best thing South Park has to offer is the sketchy carnival that comes every year. read more

I visited this mall from Des Moines with my family for the very first time this past Saturday and I would have to say I was somewhat impressed with what I saw. The mall was bustling with shoppers and I honestly expected the mall to be dead and full of empty store fronts. That was not the case at all. In fact, the mall has several anchor stores: Dillards, JCP, Sears, Younkers, & Von Maur. My kids took a Christmas train ride that went all through the entire mall (wasn't on tracks) and they had a blast. After the ride, their ticket stubs were good for free ice cream at the Chic-Fil-A in the mall. The entire area around the mall had several popular stores and restaurants from which to chose from. I was throughly impressed with the experience. If you go, definitely pay a visit to the Bishop's Buffett inside the mall.. Excellent food and top notch deserts! read more

I work here, and that's the only reason I ever come to this mall. North Park isn't the best but it's quite a bit better; it just seems like nothing but department stores can ever stay open in this mall. Even long-time staples such as busy restaurants and popular little shops close down all the time. read more

I really hope South Park is making a come back. It has always been the worst of the 2 malls on the QC. They made a good decision tearing down the food court and pulling the stores together. They have a really nice area for kids now. It looks like they're trying to make some major improvements. read more

This mall has been going down hill for a long time. They have revived it a little bit by adding some new stores, but overall North Park has always been better. I can't tell you how many times my friends from the IL side said they would rather come to North Park to shop. It has an eerie feeling to it. If you want a good mall to shop at, just head on over to the IA side. read more

Do not expect a lot out of this mall and you won't be disappointed. They have some national chains here like Sears, JCP, Limited, Old Navy, and GameStop. But do not expect much else. They have a train that serves as a ferry taking you around the mall for I believe $3. There is also a RPG/trading card/collectibles shop called Trademart here. Besides that, there is a run down arcade that has less than 10 games half of which are broken. The mall doesn't even have a sign showing you where the hidden mall office location is even when it is open. The office closes at 5PM weekdays and does not offer any refunds. There is a Bishop's buffet, a Chik-Fil A, and a dilapidated food court whose skylight isn't even lit at night. They have a vending machine that sells fresh movie theatre style popcorn for $2, something that I have never seen anywhere else. There are a couple martial arts dojos that are open occasionally, but not often. They also have a radio shack, a Hot Topic, and some other miscellaneous clothing stores. That is about all there is to this mall. read more

I/m trying to leave a review for penny's. Not the mall. But, this is what is available..... My story: I shopped at JC Penny.com for lamps. I found the perfect and most beautiful lamps for my space and ordered them to be picked up at the JC Penny in Moline, Illinois. I was so excited; these were going to be such a nice addition. When I got them thank God I opened the boxes. They were horrible. Supposed to be glass, blue changing to beige, so pretty. What they sent was green changing to really ugly orange. The entire lamp was ugly. ONE STAR for the lamps, but that's not Penny's. That's the manufacturer. Penny's was immediately apologetic, looked up the lamp on the internet, saw that yes, it was not the same, refunded my money immediately ($450) with no questions asked. FIVE stars for Penny's customer service. So, five stars minus the one star for their mfg, they get four to end up with. My hope is that they fine their manufacturer somehow for falsely advertising their products. It looks badly on Penny's. read more
