The doctor took impressions of my mouth yesterday for both upper and lower partials. He used those old-fashioned metal trays with goop on them. When took the top mold, it did not hurt my mouth at all. However, when he took the bottom mold, he pressed down hard on the metal tray, and it hurt my gums badly on the right side of my mouth toward the front. As he was pressing down, it felt like my lower gums were being jabbed with a sharp knife. I was moaning badly, and he still kept pressing down hard. He might have used a tray too small for my lower jaw. They do not use the more modern and pain free method of taking digital impressions with a scanner (mouth camera) so don't ever have dental impressions done here. I called the woman at this office this morning and she acted stupid when I tried to explain how having this impression done on the lower part of mouth hurt me. She got snippy and called me a "smart alec". I suspect they might be running a butcher shop here with quacks who enjoy inflicting pain upon patients. I have to go back on the 20th of this mouth to have my new partials fitted and out in. I told the woman over the telephone that I hope that experience will be less unpleasant for me than the impression taking was. She claimed that patients normally don't feel pain when fitted for dentures. The woman over the telephone didn't even know what "digital impressions" were. read more

I recently switched to Southside Dental and I'm so glad I did. Today I had 2 cavities filled and my dentist was wonderful. She was caring, gentle and made sure I was comfortable during the procedure. I will be making this my permanent dental office and I highly recommend this office to anyone looking a good dental practice. Called to get my son a visit for a referral to have wisdom teeth pulled thought we were out of luck the office called next day and got him that same afternoon great because my son was in a lot of pain. Found he had a molar with bone loss and pushing sideways into his wisdom teeth dr Tim Connelly got that tooth pulled and removed same day pain relief and staff was super nice to my son made a follow up appointment for a cleaning in May thanks south side dental. read more

I just got ripped off by this Dentist, Dr. Tae Barto. I went in under a Physicians advise to get some missing molars, replaced with the use of two partials, to aid in my completely chewing my food and aiding in my digestion. What did I receive? Dr. Barto in his infinite wisdom, decided not to listen to me in the least as a patient. In fact, Dr. Barto, stated that my physician was wrong and I have plenty of chewing capacity. The Dentist, turns to his assistant after looking at my mouth and states, order a specific type of denture. And said now we will do impressions. Three weeks past and I get the partials. What the Dentist ordered, was these plastic, flimsy and flexible Valplast things. You cannot eat with these, it is impossible. The Dentist keeps saying it's a learning curve. When you cannot get two bites out of any soft meal, before they pop off, how can you learn? They don't stay in, no matter what I eat. They popped out on this little, tiny bite, I took of this bread. See picture. I went in for an adjustment. Now they are worse than before. They are UNUSABLE. I find out from my insurance carrier, I should not have had this type to aid in eating and that "I" selected the wrong type of parital. I did not get to select them, Dr. Barto did. We spent $1900 dollars on this fix. That don't work. They are worthless. Now after numerous emails, numerous phone calls, these people will not communicate with either me nor my wife. I want a complete refund on what I paid and they will not even communicate. Without the refund I cannot get further care from another provider. They are affecting my health and well being. They have consumed all of my insurance benefit, so I can go no where else unless I pay out of pocket. Dr. Barto, even told my insurance company that there are no adjustments that can be made to these partials to get them to stay in. They don't even stay in with the strongest on the market paste. My wife has left over 3 messages to speak with Owner or Dentist. No one responded. I sent three emails requesting refund and all were unanswered. Shannon lied to my wife on one call, stating they sent me an email and it was returned undeliverable. I say baloney to that. They lie. Shannon told my wife the only way to resolve this is for me to come in..... Come in for what? Dr. Barto already told Delta Dental there are no adjustments. So what am I to come in for then? If not adjustments can be made? For more demeaning and ridicule from Dr. Barto, as I received last time I was in for the last adjustment? That is right, Dr. Barto knows more than anyone on the internet. All research I found, he shot down. They were all wrong and he was right. He overruled my Doctor, stating I have plenty of chewing power. Dr. Barto is right and we are all wrong. I am asking again, for a full refund. You ignoring this situation will not make it go away. Please do the right thing for once. What I paid for was a Cosmetic/Flipper Device. This is not what I asked for as a patient. I wanted the chewing power to replace the four molars. Dr. Barto sold me a garbage flipper not meant for chewing. I will be shipping this unusable devices back to this clinic certified mail. read more

My experience with this clinic was a few years back. I thought from the way they communicated with me, that they were a dental 'money mill' with the primary purpose of selling me as many services as they could. I went because I had a pain in my jaw that seemed to be related to a bad tooth. In fact, I was convinced of that. Story goes, I went through an examination and was told there was nothing wrong with my teeth. I was insistent that there was. After all, I was getting small abscesses on my gum around the area where the pain was radiating from. The dentist told me they were from me brushing my gum with a toothbrush. I thought the answer was absurd. The dentist (oriental guy) running the place was treating me like I was crazy. He told me there was nothing he could do. I ended up going to my primary care doctor for an opinion. My lymph nodes were swelling up like crazy. My jaw pain was severe. My primary care doctor suggested I have my lymph nodes removed for a biopsy, after all, he was not a dentist, nor was he trained as one. My thought was "Holy crap" this didn't sound right to me as I was still convinced there was something wrong with my teeth. I put the biopsy on hold and scheduled an appointment at the Broadlawns dental clinic. In the meantime I was prescribed a high powered antibiotic, clindamycin. My appointment with Broadlawns was scheduled, they had me come right in because of the intensity of my jaw pain. After arriving they immediately diagnosed my problem as having a dead tooth. A dental student made the diagnosis. A root canal followed over a couple of visits. Problem solved. The total time I was suffering through this took months to resolve. It was my own persistence and insistence that finally led me to a solution. read more

I would give them half or no star if possible. They are the worst! Your just cattle herded through an assembly line. They don't care two shits about you or your teeth or level of pain. I was treated with so much disrespect it was unreal. After my initial visit I had severe pain and went back and was treated even worse. They discounted my pain and didn't bother to investigate it. I then went to another dentist only to learn that South Side had left a root in the socket where they pulled my tooth! So much pain and agony for days and they didn't care. They don't deserve a dental license. They are crooks out for profit and nothing more. read more

The doctors seem professional enough, but are rather inconsistent with treatment. The wait is outrageously long, while sitting in the waiting room. And the waiting room seats are painfully uncomfortable. The only reason I'll be coming back is because they accept the insurance my kids have. read more

Durning my visit having work done on my teeth dr Bartos set there talking tito the assistance about a trip that she was going on to another place fora wedding and that if she downloaded movies for her kids for the fligt that she should be fine durning the flight.I then also durnung my apointments to southside dental to get a new upper denture and durning my visit i was told that my lower partial would not be approved by my insurance. After taking with my insurance they told me to have the dentist office send in for a pre approval for a lower replacement partial. When they did they sent in for a new lower partial and it was denied cause they didnt pay for partial now unless u have a larger number of teeth missing but the insurance told me that if they would send in for a replacement one that i would be able to have it. But when i talked to the office and the dentist called me back he then said what insurance told me was untrue. So i told him i would like to see the orher dentist in the office due to he had told us when my husband was in the office to have both a partial and a upper denture done he told me that was fine if thats what i wanted to do. So when i called in to set the appt to have my upper plate done since the approval on it was approved the receptionist said that dr bartos had said that he was not going to let me be seen at the office. He told me that i had the right to see the other dentist in the office on the phone so after i had told him i didnt want to stay with him cause insurance was telling me different than he was saying and the dentist my husband seen sid the same thing the insurance said he denied me to continue beung seen at the office. I truely believe he didnt like that i had been told by insurance that i would be able to get the partial if he sent in for the repacement then i wanted to change to the other dentist that he said was fine if thats what i wantes to do. Then he told the office to not allow me to contuine cause he knew what insurance had told me i would get the work done and he didnt want me to show him he was incorrect by seeing the other dentist in the office. read more
